and he bundled Middlesex today creating a big win for India

Dhoni is stubborn and neck deep into favoritism.....so he won't look beyond his CSK mates Ashwin and Jadeja though so no need to worry

Raina carting England around the ground now. Good chance there'll be a chase of 300 and we know how good England are at those. It'll be over before I finish work is my prediction.

Should be a pay back time for Indians and hopefully they don't goof up like how they did in the tests.

3rd oDI starts this morning...Rohit Sharma ruled out of the rest of the series, with a broken finger..

Will be interesting to see who would be opening along with Shikhar. Murali Vijay is the replacement picked but is unlikely to be available for selection, so in all likelihood, it will be Ajinkya Rahane partnering Dhawan with either Ambati Rayudu or young and exciting Sanju Samson coming into the middle order. I am not sure Rayudu really is international class. Samson is really the hope of the gen next, but is he ready? The young lad has a good temperament, and perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to give him a go.......

Hopefully the others can back hales up and stick about so he can free flow.

Dhawan has been exposed after a great first year in int'l cricket. Looks short of class tbh.

Well the series so far shows:

1) That Eng haven't worked out the modern Limited over cricket...which has evolved so fast and so many nuances in how to strategize and play this game...with the advent of IPL and other secondary and tertiary leagues.
swapping batting positions, bowling PP; the mindset when bowling or batting in tough situations....there is so much that has evolved..

They have a very talented team......real  quality seam bowling allrounders  and batsman WK and add Broad to it , they will be awesome

what they need is a coach who has played the modern Limited over cricket...like Fleming or Craig White

2) That India obviously are masters in working out the limited over format....to the extent that  they have lost the art of playing the conventional format.
AND
when the ball grips even a little bit for the Indian spinners the entire team becomes really high quality and all the lights on Dhoni's system get switched on.

and that's how they won the champions trophy last edition...and made iot to the finals of the T20 World cup

BUT
I doubt they will get anywhere close to such helpful pitches in Aus...where the slow bowling will just sit up ready to be whacked off the back foot and throuhg the line

Dhoni does not know how to set the game or nail it using the faster bowlers ( that he has in Yadav and Aaron)

So do not count India to make it even to the semis.
with good startegizing a even half figuring out how to play the game Eng have a higher chance to make it to semis ( they should add Balance to the side though)

Completely understand what you are saying, KP_f but I still think India have got the goods to go far in the WC.  

I think they will account for Pakistan at Adelaide, their next match v SA at the MCG should be a cracker. They will steam roll the UAE at the WACA... and they should be able to win against the Windies in Perth as well. Once they are on a roll they will be very hard to stop indeed.

You will have lots of support here. So too will England, SL, NZ, Pakistan and even Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Quite a few Saffas here as well.

Just on yesterday's match - never thought I'd hear such booing for Anderson in a home match. Actually felt a little sorry for him for the first time. Sort of.

At 29-3 after 11 overs, England are in real trouble. And the important thing is that the Indian spinners haven't really come into the picture as yet. The important thing for India now is not to let things slip.

Good start from England... haven't watched all that much, pitch seems to be a tad on the slow side, and the spinners haven't even come on yet.

I still think England would be better off just throwing caution to the winds and seeing what happens in ODIs. Not as if the current approach is doing much.

Kumar has bowled well, and Dhoni, of whoom I was critical in the test series, is a much better ODI captain and has been very good today.

Ali looking to take the attack to Kulkarni. England should make use of this powerplay to give the innings some momentum. If Buttler can get going, the last 14 overs could be a test for the Indian bowlers.

Ali has looked good so far. He's trying to take Ashwin on now, and the powerplay so far has gone well for England. India wouldn't want these 2 to be going too long.

That stubborn streak of Dhoni coming out a bit as he keeps on the spinners. Ali happy to take them on. Ali has his well documented issues with the short balls, of course ODI cricket is a different game, but Dhoni shouldn't let him get away with things easily. More alarming for India, Buttler is quietly settling in.

It was a splendid opening spell from Bhuvneshwar Kumar that set India up nicely. Morgan and Root threatened an England revival of sorts but Some good field placings and a good catch from Raina got Morgan, Root just gave it away, and despite Moeen's efforts, England couldn't make much progress.
Their bowlers are yet again asked to do far too much. Can they pull off a surprise performance?

Anderson getting booed from the Indian supporter is understandable, but booing Moeen Ali is a disgrace.

It has been a hopelessly one sided ODI series.......just like the last 3 test matches.

Simply shows where he priority of the two teams as nations lie.

both teams should have captains for the other form that do not play the first form of game......I think.

Just nail them 4-0 it will be a fitting response for the test debacle.

Yes, as I said the other day - I can understand why they are booing Anderson but it still makes me feel very uneasy to hear - even as an Aussie.
Not nice to give it to Moeen either. It's quite a distressing situation for the viewer. Imagine what it's like for the players. Such a great shame really.
The standard of behaviour of certain sections of the "fans" in this series needs to be addressed. Surely an announcement can be made regarding the Code of Conduct at the grounds. It's spoiling it for everybody.

First ODI hundred for Ajinkya Rahane!. A very graceful effort indeed. His ODI performances so far has been rather average, hopefully this is the beginning of him really kicking on in the format........

Agree that the 2 thrashings do not cancel each other out. India's caputalition in the tests, and England's horrers in the ODI series are both terrible........

The Indians are consistently useless in tests when they play away from home. They are pretty OK at home when playing the longer format.
Doubt we can say the same about the England ODI side. Other than a decent patch couple of years ago, England have been consistently hopeless in ODIs, home or away.......

Cook needs to go really. He needs a rest from cricket and his game just isn't suited to modern ODI cricket.

I'm usually wary of making mass changes and blooding a lot of youth, but England have nowhere to fall to at this point. We need somebody well versed in foreign cricket at the head of the ODI side, its obvious at this point English methods are horribly outdated.
