Frampton vs Martinez
Thought there would've been more discussion about this as it's on this weekend.
I personally see it going similar to first fight with Frampton on the outside looking to catch Martinez with counters or on the way in.
How do you all see it going?
I'm going Frampton UD.

I'm going same as last fight.
LKO for Carl or a wide UD in a competitive fight.
Hopefully sets up a quigg slaughter.

Frampton to win by KO inside 3.
Frampton gave Martinez too much respect last time. This time he'll end it quickly.
Then hopefully he beats the hell out of paper champion Quigg.

Will Quigg move against one of the big names later? I havent been convinced they are looking for those fights. He supposedly had his pick of Frampton, Martinez and Santa Cruz for his latest fight.

Agreed hayemaker!! I'm ok Haz, off out that weekend so can't make it. Thanks though.
Why you not going?
Quigg won't fight a big name.... Ever as a champion.

Re: Frampton vs Martinez
You know what the closer this fight gets the more I'm sensing an upset. People over here are acting like Carl only has to show up to pick the belt up. Martinez has been walking around town here this week giving interviews and what not and he seems really in the zone and confident that he's not leaving with a loss this time. Having went back and watched his last couple of fights I have to disagree with Frampton and co that he hasn't improved. I think he has. Martinez is 4-1 to win this fight and in sorry to say at odds like that I'm going to have to take them. Reading some Irish boxing pages I'm seeing people comment with things like "Carl will box his ears off AGAIN" sorry "again"??? What fight did they watch because up to the KO last time there was about a round in it either way and Martinez was still coming on strong. The KO really came out of the blue. It's a proper fight we are getting for a change so just going to sit back and enjoy. If Carl wills then il celebrate as I'm a fan. If Kiko wins il celebrate because il have won a few quid.

Agreed. Somewhere between 6 and 9.
Don't share Reborn's pessimism, Framps is a class above and it's a disgrace that Martinez is allowed to carry a belt and call himself 'champ' after the beating first time round.

Re: Frampton vs Martinez
Agree with Damien that it'd be foolish to think that all Frampton needs to do is turn up here, although I'm still picking him to win.
Frampton himself says he "gave Martinez too much respect" early doors in their last fight, but those early rounds that he spent boxing going away, using his foot speed and jab etc, were the clearest rounds and easiest ones to score in the fight. He started fighting in at close quarters with Martinez as the fight wore on, but was that because he'd made a conscious decision to do so, or because Martinez made a tiring Frampton do so? The rounds at this point were all competitive, but Kiko was definitely building up some momentum through rounds 5-9....But then of course Frampton found the pay off punch.
Although Martinez was having his moments, at the end of the day Frampton got the better of him that night when he boxed and when he banged, and while he might have improved since then, Frampton seems to be developing more of a ruthless cutting edge with every fight and his power seems to be growing all the time. If that right hand was a once-in-a-career kind of deal then Carl might be in bother as the fight goes on, but Shane McGuigan's training seems to have him in tip-top shape (he threw more shots in six rounds against Parodi than most could manage over twelve) so even if he has to go the long way round in beating Martinez, I think he can still get the job done.
But it's a proper fight, no doubt. Frampton by late stoppage for me, failing that a hard-fought decision.

Frampton seems to have it all..............Fight on the front and back foot..........crisp combinations......decent chin............and good speed...
I honestly think old man Rigo would struggle late with this kid.......
Best thing I've seen over here since Naz..
Pick Frampton to win...........Rigo is knocking on..

I'm with Reborn on this, I fancy our hometown hero will not have it as easy as the majority of fans seem to think. By no means am I saying Frampton will underestimate him, as I think he is too focussed on that and will know from the first fight it was far from one-sided. Kiko looks really fired up all week. I'm gonna go with an upset too on this.

Sure you aren't trying to big up your hero by making it a bigger challenge than it is...
D4 was an expert at this....Mosley was finished when he fought Floyd but never looked better for Manny..
Toppy will be on in a minute calling me a hypocrite...
But my point remains..

Re: Frampton vs Martinez
I see your point Truss but when I say I'm going with an upset I should have clarified I meant I am going down the bookmakers to put money on an upset, though still think and hope Frampton will win a very close fight. Though if you heard some of my friends talking, they are expecting Frampton to blast him out in the first half of the fight like he did to Parodi and I can't see that happening as Kiko looks much improved.

Re: Frampton vs Martinez
Let's hope Martinez team were on the ball when signing the contracts and there isn't any funny business going on .....
Like the temperature in the arena suddenly going from 80 degrees to 110 from the Chief support to the main event...
After all it used to get very hot in there when Mcguigan fought a slippery boxer !!
Just ask Bernard taylor.

Re: Frampton vs Martinez
Have a words Truss. Old man rigO would pick Frampton apart. Frampton can't out box him, though he could outfight him. That would prove his undoing. Frampton, knowing his only way of winning, would try to fight. Rigo would use this aggression against him. He'd be countered on every attack, cleanly.
Great fight between Martinez and frampton though. Can't wait.

Jetlag sports bar near soho show boxnation. I think Frampton finishes the fight almost identically to last time in rounds 6-9

I think kiko can only keep up his relentless pace against lesser opposition than Carl. Someone with nous who knows how to throw combo's off the Back foot should be able to nail kilo over 12 rounds.

Re: Frampton vs Martinez
I am picking Frampton but Kiko's power gives him a great chance and he's been on a very good run since the last fight.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Martinez win - because he is a damn good fighter. Frampton looks special and he should have enough against a truly World Class opponent.
Rigondeaux is still the man to beat.

Frampton win, stoppage round 6/7. Would have preferred a quigg, lsc, or rigo fight.

Tricky enough fight for Frampton. Kiko at 4/1 looks decent odds to me.
