a question for trivia enthusiasts
Looking at the tournament spread in the W/L thread, I was wondering:
Has any player played all ATP tournaments? (250, 500, Ms, GS - or World Series etc. etc., but not the Futures or Challengers)
If not, who has played most different tournaments?
And who has won the most different tournaments?
(PS: I don't know the answers)

My guess would be a workhorse like Berlocq or Grannollers.

Probably someone who went up and down the rankings, Agassi maybe, Davydenkos a good shout its not likely anyone too well known though, as they have preferred tournies when multiple ones of the same level happen in the same week. Granollers is probably too clay oriented.
Maybe Santoro?
Maybe Santoro?

Re: a question for trivia enthusiasts
I went to check on the number of different tournament wins for the 10 players with the most tournament wins
nb of tournies / name / % of unique tournies
55 for Connors, 50%
54 for Lendl, 57%
48 for Nastase, 86%
40 for Vilas, 65%
37 for McEnroe, 48%
37 for Borg, 58%
31 for Agassi, 52%
28 for Sampras, 44%
27 for Fed, 34%
24 for Rafa, 38%
It doesn't really follow the number of tournaments won. Would it be correct to suggest it shows that there is an harmonization of the schedules of top players (with goes with the higher prizes and higher professionalisation certainly)
Looking at the following current player leading the score board, I would not change the conclusion, as the total number of tournaments won make it less relevant
21 for Djoko, 47%
18 for Hewitt, 60%
18 for Murray, 64%

Santoro is certainly a good pick!
With such longevity and rank he probably went through a lot of smaller tournaments. It would seem he entered 450 tournaments in his career!! (6 trophies and 444 loss), even more than Connors!
I will not count how many unique tournaments it represents, but probably in the Top 3 (Connors, Nastase or Vilas could complete this?)

I suspect so. I am not sure, but I do not think Masters 1000 tournaments were compulsory in the days of Borg, Mac etc (they were not called Masters 1000 then either).biugo wrote:Would it be correct to suggest it shows that there is an harmonization of the schedules of top players (with goes with the higher prizes and higher professionalisation certainly)
