Romeo Romaeo - A case of marmite? Empty Romeo Romaeo - A case of marmite?

Post by ShockmasterV2 Mon 22 Sep 2014, 11:03 am

I don't post here much, but continue to read and learn thanks to you guys. What i'd like to know is people's opinions on 18 year old prospect Romeo Romaeo. 4 fights into his professional career and 4 wins. With an eye-catching unusual style he would normally be endearing to the British fans. This however, is not the case. Romeo Romaeo is trained by his father, who was seemingly at the route with his son's fall out with the ABA in the past, disagreeing with their training methods and members of the training team there. Whilst watching him Saturday night i was disgusted with his showboating which led to large sections of the crowd booing his antics. The commentators tried to dress this up as "pantomime banter" but i felt it was unnecessary and disrespectful to his opponent. Basically i'd just like to know people's thoughts on this kid, do you believe his boxing ability will take him to the top? What do you think of his training methods and fathers input? Is this sort of showboating unecessary at the start of his career?

Above his a video of his first professional fight, although the back somersault is impressive what do you guys think?

Cheers

Seems a little bit precious for someone who has achieved nothing as a pro.

Fell out with the IFL TV boys and refused to do an interview, subsequently acted like a tool on Twitter and blocked me for asking him why he didn't want to have an interview done.... I didn't even follow him.

He was angry about a perceived slight that Kugan Cassius had tweeted about boxers buying followers that he thought was aimed at him.

Time will tell if he can back up the bravado.

I don't understand what happened there. The opponent seemed to be sparked out a good ten seconds after the last punch landed.

Yeah i'd also heard about that, especially the rumour with regards to buying twitter followers. What bothers me most is his Dad's over-bearing nature and from a personal point of view, sooner or later he'll want to live his life his way not through the eyes of his Father (sorry about getting deep).

Does anyone know where I can sell my allegiance on Twitter?

If anyone wants me to follow them for money, I will.

Seems an alright lad on the face of things. Can't question his dedication thats for sure but will he burn out too soon. Seems to do a lot of things along with boxing. I think as far as marketing goes he looks like he has the so called x factor but to be honest I have not heard him speak.

I used to think Brook had the x factor before he opened his mouth and I heard him speak for the first time. Good God. Only Mike Tyson can get away with being the baddest man on the planet with the voice of tweedy bird.

Out of couriosity, how did Floyd Mayweather act in his first 8-ish fights? Because I'm guessing it isn't how he acts now. Why anyone thinks they are the 30 fight Floyd after 3 fights is beyond me.

My money is him reaching British level and getting decked.

I was thinking this a few weeks back. He's just disappeared.

I remember noticing he had 80,000 Twitter followers a few years back. I found his account recently and he had about 500.....weird?!

I think he went bankrupt after blowing all his cash on twitter followers. Currently working in Burger King to pay off the debts.

Just adds to the bizarreness of his career really, from skipping, acting like bear grylls, his Father... Just bizarre really!
