You are now the new Director of the Cardiff Blues, what do you do?
Question in the title, how would you turn the fortunes of the Blues around for the remaining season?

Probably brush up my cv, perhaps erasing any mention of the Blues.

Hammet doesn't seem to get any criticism when compared to the Blues previous coaches. I'm wondering why he's exempt from it? Are his hands tied and he's making the best of what he's got?

give them chance.
any one with half a brain can tell you that they will come good around april then i imagine a pretty strong season next time round for them.
No matter who is the coach it takes time to put a stamp on the team, i imagine he doesn't even know his strongest 15 yet.
So Blues fans should just bite the bullet and accept that they where staring down the abyss and the new boys will take time to get them out of it.

Are you serious? He's been in charge for six games and inherited a poor side. He arrived when pre-season was already pretty much over. Was he meant to work a miracle?
Thats why there is only one thing to do; wait and see if he can turn it around. There are no overnight successes in this game. It will be next season you reap the fruit if he is successful.

It's by no means a poor side that he has, it's a lot better than previous ones. Do you think I'm holding him responsible? Because that isn't what I said. I asked why he would be exempt from it when Burnell and then Davies got a lot of it. I think they can turn it around, they can beat Grenoble.

Re: You are now the new Director of the Cardiff Blues, what do you do?
It's a side that won 11, drew 1 and lost 16 last season. Not that poor a side, mid-table, but he's inherited a side that loses more than it wins and I'm not sure how he changes that overnight. They have had a very difficult start to this season in terms of playing mainly playoff contenders and he wasn't here in pre-season to put any kind of new structures or style of play in place.
So yeah I think he should be exempt from criticism for at least the first half of the season.

He needs to get them altogether in a room and throw the book at them all, show them a few video's of how the Ospreys are playing for each other, show them some video's on how to tackle and put them all on performance based wages, the like's of Cuthbert, Gethin Jenkins, well most of the pack, would all be playing for nothing on recent performances, they all seem to be pampered prima donnas who are using their names as a justification why they are there, there is something seriously wrong there, they all need a good kick up the arris, why hasn't the chief gotten hold of them and threatened to smack them across the back of their heads for falling off tackles week in week out, come on, Dan Evans is not a giant yet he steam rollered through two players to score yesterday, at the moment I would not play any of the internationals, they do not deserve their place in the side.

LD, I don't get why you don't get behind your region but coat-tail the Ospreys. It's a case of jeepers creepers if you ask me.

I watch all our regions, in fact, I have wasted a lot of money on the Blues this season, I will not be doing it anymore.
p.s I do not have a region.

You seem overly fond of the Ospreys for a neutral though.
Yes you do, the Blues .

The Blues are not my region, heck, they do not even want to be anything outside of Cardiff, I am fond of the Ospreys because they have stuck two fingers up at everbody and they are playing for each other, they are a breath of fresh air, look, as I do not have a region, I pledge my alligience to Welsh rugby, it means I can cherry pick my games, at the moment the only side in Wales worth watching are the Ospreys, and that is who I am going to watch more than others from now on.

Move the club en masse to Ponty and rename Sardis Road the Blues Arms Park

Realistically, I wouldn't move away from the Arms Park, purely from a logistics point of view, Cardiff has much better transport links than the Valleys.

Re: You are now the new Director of the Cardiff Blues, what do you do?
Saint let me enlighten you, there are a group of about 10 - 20 people associated with Dowlais RFC Junior section, who are and have been ST holders at the Ospreys since at least when we went to the Liberty, 4 or 5 of them travel to most or all the European Games, for the first game of this season the said Junior section was the guard of honour when the Os ran onto the field against Treviso, I've mentioned it a few times already the Ospreys are running roadshows around Ospreylia, in the first week they were held at the Brewery Field, Aberavon, Liberty Stadium and Dowlais RFC, they don't class the Blues as their Region.LordDowlais wrote:The Saint wrote:LordDowlais wrote:The Saint wrote:LD, I don't get why you don't get behind your region but coat-tail the Ospreys. I first ask for a pay rise.... always best to get that out of the way first.
Then I ask for more financial input from the gravy train basterauds at WRU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then I get down to business with the new funding and ask for another increase in my salary.
THEN................................. well, how should I know!
I've never been a director of rugby, don't really have the skills for the role, but don't blame me for taking the job when it was offered.
