Boxing quiz question Empty Re: Boxing quiz question

Post by DuransHorse Sun Oct 26, 2014 11:48 am

With my inferior boxing knowledge I confess I didn't know but thanks to Google I just looked that up. Mike Tyson Vs Joe Cortez was 1981 and Tyson was 15. Obviously it was not THE Joe Cortez. Any idiot with boxing knowledge second to none would know it wasn't THE Joe Cortez... Wouldn't they ONETWO? Although your wording did state it was THE ref himself rather than a clever play on names... But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Boxing quiz question Empty Re: Boxing quiz question

Post by Derbymanc Sun Oct 26, 2014 5:59 pm

Can I ask questions I already know the answer too and state my knowledge is great on said subject too?

Seriously though I do have 2 questions if anyone can help.

1. Did Jamie Moore retire on sky sports after being beaten by Khomitsky? I'm sure he stated he was retiring as he didn't think he was good enough for world titles?

2. Many many moons ago (when Frank still had SS's ear) there was a young lad that fought, he had no trainer or anyone with him. I remember Jim Watt going on that he should be signed up as he was very good (despite losing) does anyone else remember that and if so, what happened to the lad?

Can I ask questions I don't know the answers to? Not trying to prove I'm an oracle on boxing or my Dad's harder than anyone else's but I like a bit of trivia...

Adamk answered the question correctly. He did know. That means adamk is the oracle of all boxing knowledge as he knows more than ONETWO whose knowledge is second to none... other than adamk... although adamk was confused by the question as Joe Cortez the ref wasn't KO'd by Tyson.

This teasing of onetwo is unfair. Spelling's not his strong suit. He  intended to say 'my boxing knowledge is second to nun'

It takes some humility to admit a lady of the cloth has superior (forgive the nun pun) boxing knowledge.

The number of heavy caliber rounds I'd love to fire into STRONGBACK/ONETWONO-MAS?

59 rounds - how much Anthony Joshua will have to fight before he faces a half decent opponent.

59 Rounds - how long they'd have to have fought before Audley threw a meaningful punch at David Haye?

59 Rounds - The length of time I'd be happy to watch an already unconscious Tyson Fury be hit repeatedly in the face?
