To enter All you have to do is guess the score of each game. You gain points on how close you are and the game outcome. This weekend's fixtures are listed below. You can see the full rules in the spoiler below.
The rules are as follows:-
- Spoiler:
- 1) Each week you will be asked to predict the scores from that weekend's games. All predictions must be made before the start of the games.
2) You will be get points depending on how close you are to the actual score. Points will be awarded in the following way:-
- You will get 20 points for getting the correct match outcome.
- You will get 10 points for getting a teams score correct.
- You will lose one of those 10 points for every point you are away from a teams score. Therefore you must be with 10 points of a teams score to gain points.
- If you get a match score spot on you will be awarded with double points. So if the correctly predict a match's score you will receive a maximum 80 points.
Example:-
Your prediction - Ireland 17-31 South Africa
Actual result - Ireland 25-31 south Africa
Your score 32 points
You would receive 20 points for correctly predicting South Africa to win. As you were 8 points off Ireland's score you get 2 points for that and another 10 points for getting South Africa's score spot on.

Re: Autumn Internationals Competition - Week 4
Just a stat that may influence some predictions. Ireland have won v Australia on 9 occasions. On all but one of those occasions Ireland have limited Australia to a single figure score.
The one exception was Ireland's famous 27-12 win Australia in 1979.
Interestingly of the 21 times Ireland has lost they have all but two times lost with double figures scores in relatively more high scoring games.

Possibly but my gut feeling is that it will be a 18-7 win for Ireland. You heard it here first Cyril. If you lay a bet in the bookies on that I want half, ok?

Re: Autumn Internationals Competition - Week 4
Yeah, so do I Cyril.
It may surprise some that Ireland has beaten the Wallabies only 3 times since that match in 1979.
In the corresponding 25 year period the Wallabies have won 18 and there was the draw in 2009.
I'll still back our blokes to pull this one off. I'll be very surprised if they get held to 7 points and don't get at least 2 or 3 shots at penalty goals.

Oh we're working on you, Bilt. That's down one from you're previous stab at it. But you're still not factoring in the red for Folau in the 36th minute. It's gonna happen.

4 times plus one draw.
If you look at games in Dublin or neutral venues in the last 10 years:
Australia 2 wins Ireland 2 wins plus one draw.
I think that is a more relevant stat for this match.

Always back your convictions, chum.
Take the ball with the chain... and go for it!
I also have that feeling the Boks will put on a scintillating show for us all.
I reckon we could have some decent sized thrashings. NZ especially.
Probably overdid the England-Samoa one though. I hope that is a good close one too but I'll stick with what I've got.

Interesting how some people think there's going to be a 30+ point swing between last year's Ireland/Aus game and the one this weekend.

why not? There was a 18 point swing in the Ireland SA game.Cyril wrote:Interesting how some people think there's going to be a 30+ point swing between last year's Ireland/Aus game and the one this weekend.
Its fair to say the game v Oz last time round was an anomoly. This time round they have the new coach and ours is settled. The logic is there for an Ireland win.

Well we'll just have to wait and see on that one.Ireland got thumped by Oz last year but since then have only lost 2 matches by 3 points or less each time. That's what makes the Oz match last year an anomaly,if Ireland keep playing and winning against top quality teams then the win against S.A. won't have been an anomaly.
