Re: Out of Character v.12
This is what the law states:
According to the FA's rules, a penalty is awarded if an opposition player commits the following offences "in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force":
- kicks or attempts to kick an opponent; trips or attempts to trip an opponent; tackles an opponent
The FA's guidance on simulation is that the referee "must be convinced" there has been "no physical contact whatsoever" and that the referee "should be 100% certain that a player has simulated (feigned) an unfair challenge" before booking them for unsporting behaviour.

That's the point. No way the referee, at that speed and from his line of sight, can give anything other than a penalty.
Whether he dived or not is by the by.

But it was Rooney's dive that made it look like a penalty. Rooney stays on his feet rather than throwing himself to the floor and the referee isn't put in that position
Rooney simulated a foul, the referee from his position bought it and gave a penalty

Re: Out of Character v.12
True enough. I can see why the referee gave it though. I don't think it was an obvious dive that the ref should have seen. The goalkeeper gave Rooney the opportunity and he took it.
I don't think it's right but I don't blame Rooney for doing it. Moral high ground on diving is non existent as it is so wide spread. I see it in Ebbsfleet games in the Conference South. Just one of those things in the modern game.
Out of the three men involved, the goalkeeper is more at fault.

Re: Out of Character v.12
Just finished watching the Walking Dead and although not the most action packed episode I thought it was amazing.
- Spoiler:
- I felt like it had a lot of symbolism within it. The Group almost bledning in to the Walkers near the start was great for showing just how close to death they were. I also thought when the Barn was under attack the way that the first three people to react were the three who were almost contemplating giving up was a great way to show a new start...same way with the sunrise at the end.
The ending itself kickstarts the action again as well, really interested to see what happens next...such a good show!

How lame was that ending of Eastenders then.
Like being asked to bet on who will the premiership out of all the teams in the league, and then being told it has been given to Ebbsfleet Utd by default!

Re: Out of Character v.12
I watched it with the Mrs and actually thought the show was pretty decent, the acting still sucks in most cases but the tension and build up throughout the night was done really well... I would certainly watch it more if this kind of story telling was used more often.
I kind of felt that the younger brother angle was a bit of a cop out and it felt a bit anti climactic.

Well Mat that was a 90 minutes I'll never get back - Johnson's goal was probably onside but neither side were great tbh

Re: Out of Character v.12
Just been to watch the new fast and furious movie, i really enjoyed the last two and having seen that this had gotten good viewer and critic scroes i was really looking forward to it
Was sooooooo disappointed. Really think it may have been given good reviews because of what happened to paul walker as i really dont think it warrants them

Hoping to see it soon. My girlfriend said it was alright. Not the best of them though. Still it does tie up the chronological loose ends we had after Tokyo Drift
