Mickey Rourke Empty Mickey Rourke

Post by adamk Thu 20 Nov 2014, 1:17 pm

Just been reading an article that Mickey Rourke is returning to the ring next week on the Provodnikov-Castillo card in Russia.

Surely this cant be allowed?

He's 62 and not fought in 20 years!

Fair enough his opponent is 1-9 but he is 33 years younger than Rourke.

What are you views?

Cheers

rourke couldn't fight in his prime, so am guessing the guy he's fighting will take a dive

For a guy who hasn't fought in 20 years he sure looks like he has.

In fairness he did a right number on Enrique after he'd chessed him off by high-tailing it out of there with his money and his gal. Messed him up with body shots.

*Hopes that every one else is aware that it was Mickey Rourke who played the villain in Enrique's 'Hero' video or else a massive kicking for having knowledge of such a girly video will no doubt ensue*

Ironic in the extreme that he starred in the film "Johnny Handsome"

Mate in my old rugby team (blindside flanker, big tough bloke), used to sing 'Hero' before every game in the changing room. Word perfect. Never quite understood why, but it seemed to work for him.

That doesn't excuse you from being a big girl though, Chris lad.

Well you guys are happy for a 50 year old with limited recovery abilities to fight..

So why not Rourke !!!...and he is unbeaten...I imagine some of his victims are getting ready to fight Quigg on an undercard soon..

It is sadly, Dave. Provodnikov really dropped his birthday cake against Algieri. Says he wants to be out of the game by the end of 2015 and his chances of a really brilliant pay day before then probably went up in smoke with that loss.

From potential Pacquiao opponent to fighting the washed up remains of Castillo. Day-umn.

Micky Rourke won in the second round with body shots. It was a fixed fight and he looked like a nob throughout.

Ray Leonard was only out for three measly years when he came back and fought Hagler and look at all the fuss people made out of that. Rourke was out for TWENTY!! It kind of put Leonard's comeback into perspective. Clearly, Rourke's the real boxing great.

Despite the quiet beating the other guy was dishing out to to rourke, the fight itself was like Ali Liston 2.... Rourke a picture of poise and grace as he switch hits and pot shots, and then a phantom ko shot so fast you could swear it didn't land.

All a bit sad,

I dont think the ref read the script on this one. Rourke took his glove off to celebrate after knocking the guy down, thinking the fight would be stopped...it wasn't.

guy gets up, knocks rourke down with an accidental body shot, rourke gets a minute to recover. Other guy get stopped with a farcical punch in the 3rd.

Great shout Derby, but they didn't get much action in the shoot if that was the case. His haircut certainly looked made for film.

Got to give Rourke some credit though, he's in good shape for a 62 year old.
