Ken has struggled with his post boxing life a lot. Can only wish him all the best for his recovery, one of the very finest these shores have produced and a truly hard man.

Amen to that, Jeff. Ken never expected any favours from life and since retiring, he has never got them. Partly his fault at times, but isn't that the case for most of us?
Still my boxing hero, still an all-time great lightweight and one of the 5 best fighters ever to come from these islands. I hope that he recovers to enjoy a happier few twilight years.

Hope he gets well soon. Only found out about him after randomly finding his autobiography onboard.
Seemed to hold a lot of anger about the Duran loss which led to some issues. Sounded like a decent fella though and had to fight for everything.

Hopefully he manages to get through this and live a better life after. Such a shame to hear about another sporting star losing their way after retiring.

I was watching a few Bucanan videos at lunchtime from the days of his pomp and whats clear to see is how confident and articulate he was. Watching recent interviews shows how damaging addiction can be. Classy little fighter with a great jab and movement.

A guy who never really got the recognition or acclaim that he deserved on these shores during his career, and who hasn't found peace in retirement. Shame. All the best to him in his recovery.

Apparently the ex boxer John Duddy is playing Ken Buchanan in an upcoming film about Roberto Duran. DeNiro is playing Durans trainer.

Usher* is playing Ray Leonard in that film. Will be quite interested to check it out. Won't be as good as the 30-for-30 doccie where Leonard looked like he wanted to beat a confession out of Duran. My favourite 30-for-30
*Usher is the early 2000s pop star who wasn't beaten to a pulp by Mickey Rourke in a music video

Leonard still looks young enough to play himself.

Re: Ken Buchanan In Hospital
Feel sorry for the lack of acknowledgement the general British boxing fans give Ken as I reckon 90% of fans under the age of 30 have no idea who he is.
Ps - Duddy could speak in a Welsh accent and most wouldn't know any different!

Duddy has landed a few small acting parts. The Duran movie is the second role he will play alongside DeNiro. Appears Bobby has a bit of time for Duddy.
Inbetween the acting jobs Duddy works as a removal man in New York. Thomas Hauser wrote a good article on how Duddy was ripped off by his manager and.promoter who happened to be brothers.
