Robert Guerrero Vs. Keith Thurman
Just got announced yesterday, what a fantastic fight.
Guerrero came up well short against Floyd, but has shown he has something to give at Welterweight and is a major nights work for anyone at the weight, apart from the main two, you'd think. Thurman, the big exciting up and coming puncher against the more proven fighter, should be fun.
Seems that Al Haymon waited out 2014 giving us dross and not matching his fighters up on purpose waiting for him to get the NBC deal, as now he seems to be matching all his big fighters up against each other once again like 2013, where we had a host of great matchups.
Guerrero seems to have a solid chin and is big at the weight considering he came up from Super Feather, but Thurman looks a machine at times and has shown he can box as well as bang. Guerrero just looks as though he'll be too easy to hit and Thurman can seriously hit but most importantly can move well too. Think Thurmans variance in attack will be too much to handle for Guerrero who seems quite one dimesional at the higher weights and has turned into a bit of a plodder as opposed to the quick counter puncher that could throw great combinations and move well on his feet.

Tends to dispel your original theory that this is going to be a fantastic fight doesn't it?AlexHuckerby wrote:Just got announced yesterday, what a fantastic fight.

I think Guerrero is one of the most underrated fighters of the modern era.....Not sure how his power stacks up against Keith....

If Guerrero retained his jab and movement from his younger days it would be more competitive, however the current version who tries to force his way onto his opponent's chest and out work them. With Thurman's power and timing I reckon Rob gets cut down in the first half, be a more exciting fight if I'm proved wrong though!

Guerrero that modern P4P great is a 13/2 underdog against an untested fighter, guess his stock was only worth something when he fought Floyd.
Target practice for Thurman, never rated Guerrero at the top level.

This was announced a while ago. Guerrero's too hittable and has only patchy form at 147 - Thurman should knock him out.

Re: Robert Guerrero Vs. Keith Thurman
Feel Thurman will just be too powerful for Guerrero
Guerrero was much more dangerous at 135 where he boxed a lot more whereas at welter he tends to go to war and outwork his opponents. He is a lot flatter on his feet and has been hit cleanly in every fight he's had at 147.
Kamegai hit him a lot and Thurman you'd imagine is a harder puncher as he's knocked out quality and Guerrero can only take so much untill his chin cracks
Good fight for thurman needs to impress, Thurman LKO

Re: Robert Guerrero Vs. Keith Thurman
Guerrero has regressed in recent times. He's not listening to his father anymore. Just always looking for a slugfest. If Guerrero uses his jab and awkward southpaw style he can cause Thurman issues. And as far as I'm aware(99% certain) Guerrero's only ever been dropped once, by Joel Casamayor, so Thurman didn't KO Bundu, I don't think he'll KO Robert.

Common theme there Rodney, you don't seem to rate anybody.

Points win for Thurman I think but he won't have it all his own way. Hopefully Guerrero drags him into his type of fight to make it more exciting and test Thurman.
I don't rate Thurman as high as many others so this could prove tough for him or prove me wrong.

Chin versus punch. Could be quite a fight!
RG isn't anything special above 135 so Thurman should comfortably take this, but stylisticly it should be a good clash.

Rated The Ghost @ 140 and below, but most defo not @ 147. If he's that longer shot then it's worth putting a cheeky deep sea diver, as you said Thurman is untested. Do think he gets past him with ease, probably by stoppage... at which point I'd like him to get it on with Khan before the latter goes on to ramidamdam.
