Tattoos - Do you have any?
I have tattoos on both my shoulders. I didn't have my first one until I turned 30. Had the last one done on Wednesday and I wouldn't have anymore done now
I hate people who have tattoos and think that anyone who hasn't got one is a sissy but then I also hate people who don't like them so constantly harp on about 'what will that look like when you are old' and 'if my child came home with a tattoo they would be out of that door in a shot' etc
I think body art is good providing it is done decent and a person doesn't go too over the top with it
So has anyone else got some or am I the only "thug" on 606?

Got two large tattoos on my back, a half sleeve on my upper left arm, three on my left forearm/wrist, three on my right forearm/wrist, one on my right upper arm, one on each calf and one on my stomach

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
I have one on my calf, is a cover up for an ill considered football badge many years ago. Am considering having the other calf done next year, but can't decide what to have.

Is a dragon dave, was somewhat limited for the cover up to be decent. Do like it though, is very well done.

Cover-up work has improved so much over the years but it's costly to get the good stuff

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
Bloke I use is £60 an hour, which is not cheap, but the way I look at is is given you have got it for life why would you save a few quid and end up with something rubbish.

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
Agreed, I started watching this show on VIVA about covering up dodgy tattoos and some of the work on there is fantastic...but I dread to think how much it would cost.

No one ever scored with a Villa tattoo anywhere on their body. You might get some action if you're prepared to rim Doug Ellis but otherwise it's a real turn off.

We don't score on the pitch, but do off it.
I have a little shamrock on my shoulder, interesting to read comments above, as thinking of getting something done over it.
Was gonna get the Villa badge done, the more recent one, but decided against it.
Speaking of football tattoos, my mates who are brothers and blues fans, one has the Birmingham City badge covering his entire back.
The other has Birmingham city football club tattooed just below is neck, on the front.
Ah gotta feel sorry for those boys.

I have one tattoo on my arm, a consequence of an incredibly drunken lunchtime in Plymouth in 1977.
I don't remember getting it done. The first I knew of it was when I woke up in my bunk back onboard. Initially, I was only aware of a throbbing pain in my head, my eyes were hanging out on stalks and I had a tongue that tasted like the flip side of Tarzan's loin cloth. That was pretty much par for the course for lunchtime sessions in Guzz. What wasn't par for the course was the additional throbbing pain in my arm which couldn't possibly be anything to do with alcohol.
Looking down, I saw the square of blood soaked tissue that had been taped on my forearm and the first thing I thought of was that I must have gotten into a fight and been glassed or something. But that's not possible because I have always been a really rotten scrapper and had I been in a fight I would surely have been black and blue all over. Or probably dead. Or both.
So, out of sheer curiosity, I peeled back the tissue and there it was. It was at that point that I noticed everybody else looking at me, sniggering and grinning like Gibraltar rock apes.
It's still there and I think I can honestly say without fear of contradiction that I've never been that drunk again since..... well.... mostly.

Not a fan, agree with Truss how they look. Sleeves are the worst in my opinion, followed by names and dates and stupid quotes.

Some tattoo's look good, some look terrible.
I've been like Westy since we had the kids, constant debate with myself (and the missus) about getting something with their name on. Problem is the cost and it's not really my thing.
Plus knowing my look it would come out looking like a smudge.

I was thinking of having my kids names put on my arm. I've always detested tattoos, but that was back in the 80's, when your normal bloke with a tattoo looked like a thug. Things are different now, so why not?

I'm not sure why you'd bother, especially with names. What would be the point you are tying to make by having your kids named etched on your body?

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
The same way as why do you bother by anyone presents, telling your kids you love them etc etc.
It's something your doing for your kids, especially if you don't get to spend as much time with them as you do.
It's a way of expressing your love for them, not everyone wants to do it which is fine, some people do which is also fine.

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
Ha ha ha, what possible benefit would ones kids get out of having their names somewhere on someone elses personage?
If scribing their names on you is the only way you can demonstrate your "love" for them, then you must be a poor communicator.
I'd be rather embarrassed if my parents had my name tattoed on them.
Can just imagine the situation.
"Hey Tommy, I've got you a present"
" Oh great daddy, what is it, what is it"
"Just let me roll up my sleeve, and I'll show you"
"FFS dad, that's crap, can you take it back, I want an action man"
Each to their own, but let's not pretend it's for anyone elses benefit other than the vanity of the person who gets it done.

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
It's not a present for the kid you wally,
It's something you do for yourself.
The fact that you don't like them and like to (try) and belittle the people that do says a lot more about you than it does about anyone else.

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
Wait a minute, you said it was something you did FOR your kids.
I simply asked why you would do it, I wasn't necessarily belittling you for it.
Yes, I don't like them, but pretending you're doing it on their behalf is pretty laughable.
I suppose your kids name is marginally better than a Football Team tattoo.

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
I'm assuming you don't have kids then SR
It's like a memory on your body for them, it shows your proud of your kids and you want the world to know.
It's hard to explain if you don't understand SR.
Of and for the record my 2 were dead excited to find out their Mam was gonna get their names tattoed on her. (Due to costing couldn't afford it in the end.)

Re: Tattoos - Do you have any?
I don't have kids, but then again, there are billions who do have kids and who don't require a tattoo of their names to remind them that they do.
Why would you need to show the world you're a parent and proud of it, why do you care whether they know?
What you also forget is that the only person that cares about your kids is you (and your wife), no one else (outside your family) does, so your tattoos mean nothing to them, other than to provide a moments mirth.
I'd prefer to simply look at a picture than a cliched font scrawled across my forearm. Again, my preference, I'm not denying your right to do what you want, but your justification seems a bit odd.
Seems a somewhat chavvy (if you don't mind me saying) gesture.
