My Top Fifteen Clash Songs
Seeing as there are always a lot of fanatics of Ver Clash I am sure that it will be easy to think of lots of songs that deserve to be praised.
By the way, ten songs seem too little, and I thought that everyone would choose pretty much the same ones. Here are my top 15, therefore.
15. Remote Control.
14. London's Burning
13.Somebody Got Murdered
12.Career Opportunities
11.The Magnificent Seven.
10. Armagideon times.
9. Straight to Hell.
8. Safe European Home.
7. Tommy Gun.
6. One More Time
5. Washington Bullets
4. Know Your Rights
3. London Calling
2. Spanish bombs
1. White Man in Hammersmith Palais.
I will be sure to disagree with this list soon enough...may have to rearrange a bit soon so forgive me if I do just that.

Some good choices Andy, as the Clash are big favourites of mine may as well stick my thoughts in. One I would have to find room for is Rudie Can't Fail, even has the bonus of appearing in Grosse Point Blank. Also, despite it being a cover I fought the law would have to feature somewhere. Tough list to do though

Re: My Top Fifteen Clash Songs
Of course, you're right."Rudie" has been my favourite Clash song at one stage! An oversight.
When I lived in Battersea in the 90s I used to get the 19 bus, and was pleased as punch to do something so Clash-like. I was actually living in a high-rise flat ,which Mick Jones also did when he lived with his nan as a kid,not far away from where I lived.
Funny that you mention the film; I had seen the film and liked it without knowing that Joe did the soundtrack.I had to beg my mate to watch the film-he got me into the clash,so one more great stoner night was had in that flat in Battersea!
To friends of mine who were old enough to remember the 70s punk era , when I droned on about them ,they were somethign of an anachronism...now it seems that they are bound up in my nostalgia, but for when I was in my twenties!!
Was lucky enough to meet Mick Jones in 1999 in the Charing Cross Road. He was a gent, and looked very sheepish when I told him that B.A.D. were still in my mix-tapes!
Cheers!

Re: My Top Fifteen Clash Songs
Some good choices so far, I'd throw in
Janie Jones
Death or Glory
Crooked Beat
Junkie Slip
Train In Vain
Stay Free
White Riot
This Is England
Also have an embarrassing soft spot for the version of Career Opportunities sung by the kids of one of them (as well as Lily Allen's version of Straight To Hell).

Re: My Top Fifteen Clash Songs
Oh too right about the "other" Career Opps version.Oddly,I heard Sandinista before "The Clash", so it was that version I heard first!
"This is England" I did think about including...I do even own "Cut the Crap"...did you know that when they reissued the catalogue for cd, they tried to forget about that album?!It took a while before it snuck out.
Pretty much any song off the 1st album could be included in a list. I picked the ones that I like a tiny fraction more, for reasons I know not....
I realised the other year that I don't think "London Calling" is anywhere near being my favourite Clash lp..."Jimmy Jazz" and a few others wouldn't make my cut.

I did deliberately not include Rock the Casbah, also!Madness. An embarrassment of riches though.

Re: My Top Fifteen Clash Songs
Pretty much an impossible task. White Riot and Rock the Casbah would surely have to make the list but you'd have to take a couple out and I wouldn't know where to start.
Have pretty much their anthology in the car, and I think there are real differences in music styles from start to finish. As such I find I go through stages of liking the different stuff. At the moment I'm probably listening to Tommy Gun and Complete Control the most.

Not especially Julius, but I am aware of being a sad git as old Clash fans can be quite tiresome!
