Montpellier Vs Bremen
VS
Result - - Fernando Torres x2 & Karim Bellerabi - Andre Carrillo & Luciano Vietto
Montpelliers quality eventually told out over the 90 mins with Bellerabi getting in behind the aging Ashley Cole. Bremen very much missed Maher alot of their creative was missing but the pace outwide gave Marky's full backs serious issues but just couldn't get the equalizer.
Genk vs Basel
Vs
Result - Genk 2-1 Basel - Alexandre Lacazette x2 & Paulo Dybala
In the end the wingers cutting in for Genk overloading the midfield was enough to push them across the line against a very good Basel side. Personally id have liked to see Adriano & Dybala start for Basel would of got them a draw against Dier & Chiellini.
Granada vs Twente
Vs
Result - Granada 0-0 Twente
Bit of a borefest here, Azzy has set up very well against Hero, He's got the midfield area covered ("Coq Blocked") and has an outlet to get out with Xavi getting the game moving from deep and the full backs are good enough to keep Hazard/Costa out the game with help from the DM's when cut inside., I don't see Granada causing much of a threat on the break but i see them having enough chances to keep it competitive with Ljajic/Grey making use of the space Rafinha/Gibbs leave when pushing up the pitch.
Verona 0-2 PAOK - Default win
- Montpellier:
- ---------------Frey
Yedlin - Manolas - Howedes - Willems
------------Clasie - Pirlo
---Bellarabi - Barkley - Lavezzi
--------------Torres
Subs: Julian Speroni, Jon Flanagan, Jose Fonte, Seydou Keita, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Zakaria Bakkali, Samuel Eto'o
Tough game today against Bremen, they have some exceptional players but we have the midfield pairing and attack to cause them real problems. Clasie and Pirlo can dictate possession in the middle of the park, while Bellarabi and Lavezzi can target Bremen's fullbacks with their pace. I've gone with Torres upfront as he seems to have recaptured his natural form, use your pace to make runs in behind for Clasie and Pirlo to look for the ball over the top, target Terry's lack of pace to get in on goal.
Defence: Frey to stay big for one on ones and distribute to Clasie/Pirlo. Howedes to track their striker, beat him to any passes towards him and force him to drop deeper to frustrate him, Manolas to be the first to any second balls. If they play a second striker, Manolas to mark him and Clasie to track any AM. In possession supply Clasie/Pirlo. Yedlin and Willems to overlap the wingers going forward and get crosses into Torres. Make sure you get back into position ASAP to avoid being caught out. Defensively force their wingers wide and block the crosses. Don't let them cut inside.
Midfield: Clasie/Pirlo sit infront of the back four, get the ball and look to supply the front four. Bellarabi and Lavezzi will play wide so they are able to switch from playing alongside Barkley when we're attacking but drop and form a midfield four with Pirlo and Clasie when defending. Utilise Yedlin and Willems overlapping and use them to play them down the wing or use the space to cut inside. Barkley to play as our AM, drift left and right and deeper to drag their DM out of position and look to supply Torres with plenty of opportunities. Bellarabi and Lavezzi as the wingers, both pick up the ball wide and cut inside to leave space for the overlapping fullback, shoot or create when in advanced positions.
Attack: Torres to mark the deepest Bremen defender, use your pace and positioning to worry their defenders, drift wide to drag defenders with you, to allow Barkley/Bellarabi/Lavezzi to make runs down the middle into space for Clasie/Pirlo to pick them out. You more than capable of scoring and assisting, so get shots in where you can and look for your teammate in a better position. Switch positions on occasion to keep the Bremen players guessing and drag them out of position.
Subs 70 mins:
If winning: Barkley and Torres off, Keita and Eto'o on. Switch to 4-5-1 with Keita playing at CM alongside Clasie and Pirlo, and forming a midfield three, Bellarabi/Lavezzi to wide midfield. Absorb pressure then look for Eto'o on the counter.
-------------------Frey
--Yedlin - Manolas - Howedes - Willems
Bellarabi - Clasie - Pirlo - Keita - Lavezzi
-------------------Eto'o
If drawing: Torres off, Eto'o on. Like for like, new striker with fresh legs, utilise your pace and experience as we push for the winner.
If losing: Willems and Clasie off, Sigurdsson and Eto'o on. Change to 3-1-4-2; Push for goals.

VS
- Bremen:
- --------------Wolf-------------
Carvajal-Terry-Martinez-Cole
--------------Rode-------------
------Gundogan--Kroos-------
Carrillo------Vietto-----Buffel
Player Instructions:
Wolf - Command your box, come and claim the ball play the ball into our possession.
Martinez - I want you to sit on thier striker today, likely to be Eto'o or Torres and just not allow them any space, you should be able to beat them for pace if they break away.
Terry - Stand your ground, i want you to get on the end of everything coming into the box, you are in charge there today and need to be aware of the Montpellier attacking players getting at us.
Carvajal and Cole - I want you both to watch for the runs from the wide areas, Holtby is out injured today but it's likely that Sigurdsson will fill that role, don't allow him any space or time on the ball.
Midfield 3 - Our gameplan today as i feel we will be without the ball for lengthy periods, your job is to pressure Montpellier into losing the ball, close them down and make it uncomfortable for them, we may naturally be on the counter attack for periods in the game even though i don't want to sit back we need to be prepared so that we can hit them on the break. The movement on and off the ball has to be smart as we could get caught out at any moment. Marky is a good manager and his team is filled with quality but it doesn't mean that we can't win. Gundogan you will move forward the most of the 3 in the midfield and look to be another option in our attacks considering we are missing Maher this week by roaming around behind the 3 attackers looking to make things happen. Rode you will be sitting in front of the defence looking to protect that back 4 and make it difficult for Montpellier to get through.
Carrillo - Welcome to the team, i want you to get at the Montpellier defence, i want you to cut inside and look to have a shot or even look to play others in. I want you to be a problem for them and make plenty of runs in and around them. Defensively you will need to get back and support the midfield in the wide areas.
Buffel - Defensively again i want you to get back and defend in the wide areas, look to make distracting runs and get the ball inside to Vietto.
Vietto - I want you to play on the shoulder of your marker, likely to be Fonte. Whoever it is, don't make it easy for them to mark you, watch for the passes into you and look to make runs in behind. Look to take every chance possible to work the keeper.
Subs: Di Santo on for Vietto - 85th Minute.
- Genk:
- -------------------------------De Sanctis-------------------------------
----Caceres--------------Dier----------------Chiellini--------Digne-----
--------------------------Mavuba-----------Diame------------------------
----------------Tadic---------------------------------Son---------------
----------------------Lacazette---------Ibrahimovic---------------------

TACTICS
We are playing Basel who are going through changes with their new manager. However, this is a game we expect to win and keep a clean sheet, with Chiellini our leader at the back. We are playing a narrow 4-4-2 with our widemen looking to get central and find space around the final third, playing with a lot of freedom. As a team, we should look to generally be physical and look to rough them up as they look a bit lightweight.
PLAYER ROLES
De Sanctis - Don't let them score.
Caceres/Digne - Look to get forward on the overlap to provide us with width when possible. They will have players on the wings that will want to cut in, so defend on the edge of the area, show them wide.
Chiellini/Dier - They could play two upfront, if they do, then I want a tight back four lead by Chiellini in a zonal system. If they play one, Dier has the role of man-marking the main striker matching him for pace and power.
Mavuba/Diame - Both of you are full of energy and power. Use that to dominate them in the middle of the park. Cover every blade of grass and look to take it in turns getting forward, use your physicality to impose yourselves on the game.
Tadic/Son - Playing as 'wingers' but you both have the freedom to drift around the final third of the pitch. Tadic, I want you to get a little deeper and look to be a creative attacking player finding that killer ball. Son, I want you to drift in trying to find room in behind in between their RB and CB, pulling them around and ruining their organisation.
Lacazette - Look to drift around looking for space, use your pace to get free of their defenders. Look especially between their CB and LB for space. If they push up get on the shoulder of the last man. Try to drag players out of position for others to exploit.
Ibrahimovic - Bully their centre backs, who aren't the best physically. I expect you to win any aerial balls against them, use your power. Also look to shoot from range, you are my main striker and you do it well.
SUBSTITUTIONS
If winning - Bring a striker off, Honda on. Move to a 4-2-3-1 to see out the game. Diaz for a CM, fresh legs in midfield.
If drawing - Lampard for a CM. Try to score the winner. Bring on Wilson late on.
If losing - Lampard and Honda for CM and Caceres. Honda is a RWB, Lampard CM as we become extremely aggressive and go for them. Bring on Wilson late on if still struggling.
Vs
- Basel:
- --------------------------------Casillas------------------------------
----de Sciglio----------Mexes---------Martins Indi------Gaya------
--------------------------Blind--------Illaramendi-------------------
-------Kuyt-------------------Grenier-------------dos Santos-------
--------------------------------Dybala-------------------------------
Subs: Sommer, Adili, Poconogli, Umana, Elneny, Sinkgraven, Adriano.
-Casillas organises defence using his experience, de Sciglio and Gaya tuck in when defending and go forward when attacking, Mexes marks the striker with his physicality and BMI sweeps in behind the defence, playing out from the back.
-Blind is the holding midfielder, covering the full backs, switching to a 3 at the back when we have the ball, Illaramendi is the deep lying playmaker, spreading the passes to the full backs and further forward, everything needs to come through him, playing forward passes and supporting Blind when defending.
-dos Santos and Kuyt hug the touchline to spread the defence and create gaps in he defence. Grenier looks to run beyond Dybala into the gaps created to create space in the midfield to give the ball to Dybala's feet. Grenier looks to create and move the DM about and create gaps for dos Santos to come inside as the inside forward and exploit when he gets the ball.
-Dybala looks to drop 5 yards deeper to receive the ball at his feet and to drag the defender out of position. Look to link up with Grenier and get in front of his marker from low crosses from wide areas. Look to use his pace and energy to spin off the defender and leaving him 1v1 with the deepest CB when he wants the ball for feet, but sometimes, drop deeper and look for a pass for him to run onto.
Set Pieces (A) - dos Santos, each side and corners
Set Pieces (D) - Mexes in our own half
Subs (if winning after 70 mins):
Adriano for Dybala - Same stuff as Dybala, fresh legs
Elneny for Illaramendi - DM alongside Blind, fresh legs, tighten the defence up, tougher to break down
Adili for Grenier - AM, fresh legs to make an impact and run at the tired DM's legs
Subs (if drawing after 70 mins):
Adriano for dos Santos - Switch to 4-4-2 attacking in hope of getting a winner and to pick the ball up, turn and run at a tired defence
Elneny for Illaramendi - Not to leave ourselves too open at the back, both full backs bomb on and him and Blind cover (Blind to cover LB and Elneny RB)
Subs (if losing after 65 mins):
Adriano for Gaya - 3-5-2, Blind goes to CB as ball playing CB, Adrian goes up top with Dybala, Kuyt RW, dos Santos LW and Grenier in AM
Elneny for de Sciglio - He goes alongside Illaramendi in the 2 deeper midfielders and holds, just like Blind did
Adili for Kuyt - Give us a different outlook on the RW and to run at the tired LB.
- Granada:
- ---------------- Buffon ------------------
Ivanovic - Jedvaj - Alderweireld - Durm
Gray - Fletcher - Xavi - Coquelin - Ljajic
----------------- Kane -------------------
Subs: Stekelenburg, Veltman, Motta, Buonanotte, di Natale, Zivkovic, Streller
General:
Last week’s result was disappointing – I expect you to go out there and put it right this week. We are up against a strong Twente side so you will all have to work hard, play hard, talk to each other and come together as a unit. They may have have big-name players like Hazard and Tevez but we have what they don’t – a strong work ethic, a physical presence, and sheer determination. You are going to put the screws on Twente’s creativity and use the pace of Gray, Ljajic and Kane to spring counter attacks to exploit the gap between their defence and midfield. Play this game tight, play it physical, soak up the pressure and you can come away with the three points.
Defensive Tactics:
- Tevez likes to drop deep and run at you – I want Fletcher to pick him up, as he knows his game so well being a former teammate. Jedvaj and Alderweireld will sit back, marshal the back four, and step up to tackle attackers if necessary. Beware Hazard’s movement and shout to each other if he makes a run into space so someone can cover.
- Ivanovic is highly experienced and will possibly be up against Hazard. He knows how to keep Hazard quiet – get stuck into him early and often, never let him settle on the ball. If you tackle him he’s liable to get booked for diving – make sure he knows he’s not getting an inch from you today. Durm to take care of the other winger in similar, physical fashion. If Hazard switches wings make sure you show him onto his right foot, and keep him on the outside at all times.
- Coquelin and Fletcher will sit ahead of the defence patrolling, getting stuck into the AM and working with Xavi to ensure that the opposition CMs have no time on the ball.
Attacking Tactics:
- Xavi to orchestrate moves from deep. As we are playing a counter attacking game, search for Gray, Ljajic or Kane who are all expected to surge ahead when we win the ball, putting the Twente defence under pressure in an instant.
- Gray and Ljajic are to muzzle the FBs by not sitting back – we are playing a counter attacking game and if you are poised to break, the FB can’t get forward. Obviously if one does try the overlap, come back to assist the CM and your own FB, but the main focus is on getting into space to blitz Twente with pace on the break. Then either break onto goal yourself, or if he is free, put a ball into the box for Kane to nod in.
- Kane to play the leading role, I want you to move between Subotic and Pepe to shake off their marking, then use your strength and pace to slip past them and through on goal. Crosses into the box will be thick and fast – ensure you pick on Pepe’s lack of mobility and cut across him to head in.
Sub:
If losing on 75 minutes: di Natale on for Fletcher. Focus on putting crosses into the box for the two strikers.
---------------- Buffon ------------------
Ivanovic - Jedvaj - Alderweireld - Durm
Gray ------- Xavi - Coquelin ---- Ljajic
--------- di Natale -- Kane ------------
Vs
- Twente:
- ------------------Rafael------------------
Rafinha---Subotic---Pepe---Gibbs
--------McCarthy---Rakitic----------
-----Costa---Suarez---Hazard----
----------------Tevez-------------------
Up against Azzy this week and whilst he has the great English hope up front in Kane, he's badly missing Sanchez and also loses Roncrete from his starting eleven whilst for us only Calhanoglu is missing and Suarez is a more than adequate replacement. Whilst Granada are yet to find a formation that suits them we're sticking with the tried and tested 4-2-3-1, our team has a good balance to it with players in positions that suit them and everyone knows their role. If they're again playing with a wingback formation then look to double up down the flanks and tire them down for an assault in the second half.
GK: Speak with your defence, organise them for set pieces, be on your toes constantly ready for to strike. Play safe and look to catch the ball rather than punch, ensure you dominate your box.
FBs: Both of you are forward thinking fullbacks and both are comfortable in possession of the ball so I want you both to push their wingers back, their wingers can't pose a threat defending in their own half. If their wingers have the ball then don't go to ground, stay with them and force them wide into corners then block the cross. Look to double up where possible with our wingers going forward.
CBs: Pepe to keep Kane in his pocket, ensure early on he knows who's the daddy and don't let him get goal side. Subotic to double up when needed but mainly to ensure a second striker or a winger doesn't break into the box.
CMs: McCarthy to stay back and keep a close check on their AM, don't allow him time on the ball to dictate play and nullify his threat when he's in a central position, be a terrier at his heels all the time. Rakitic to pass the balls out to the wings especially linking up with Hazard but has the remit if in space to run with the ball if there's the opportunity.
Wingers: This week look to come inside as much as possible and stretch the Granada defence especially if they're playing with three at the back, look to double up on their flanks with our FBs and really tire their wingbacks, this will be crucial in the final third of the game with the quality of Costa and Hazard.
AM/SS: Suarez to play in a high AM role this week with the instruction to time runs into the box as the wingers cross to either latch onto them or to open them up to provide space for Tevez.
ST: Use your engine to never stop causing problems for the Granada defence, drag your markers about and don't be afraid to niggle them, let them lash out to get them treading cautiously and for set pieces in dangerous positions for Hazard to strike.
Subs:
Medran, Rabiot, Fernandez, Blackett, Angulo, Muric, Ould-Chikh
Result - Granada 0-0 Twente

Obviously I'm happy to win, but;
Yedlin and Willems are two of the quickest fullbacks out there!
the pace outwide gave Marky's full backs serious issues

Re: Week 3 Results
By that theory Danny Rose should be one of the best full backs in the world but he's not cos he can't defend despite his pace...So all in just cos you have pace doesn't mean you can defend it.
