Welcome to Season 7 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1992.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Open Window

Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them.  Teams may only bid for one player at a time.

The window will open from the 9th of June but only to those sides that finish 8th and below at first. They will have a week to make one signing each before the window is open to all.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 15:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Last season Bam I got hammered in one game for fatigue where CJB went through previous rounds and added up how much my props had played. As I recall it cost me the game. Hence this season, especially the last few weeks, I have been rotating like crazy.

Fair enough, might have to look at rotating a touch more in some areas, I'd imagine it would mainly be the pack though?

Just seen Chris Henry returned for Ulster on Friday, hope he can get some game time so I can think about playing him again

So if parrisse was marked down despite having a week off does that mean all 6n players are marked down Again this week as they will not have had 2 weeks off ?

Mat, for me I will look at players on an individual basis. If you look at the team I'm putting out this week, players like Marler and AWJ who started all 5 games for their countries are on the bench and will be gradually brought back in. Ben Youngs however is starting for me, as I can't see him having been as fatigued in the 6 Nations as those two guys.

It's up to the individual how they predict I guess, as long it's consistant I can't see the problem.

I wouldn't mark down either of those Pete if you started them, the 6Nations has quite a few rest weeks and should be fine if you are unloading your bench.

I was surprised Parisse got marked down as he played 1 game in 3 weeks in the 6Nations, I've played him in 5-6 games in a row on here before and haven't had him marked down for fatigue etc.

So would people have Ford as ok to start?

Also would any of you recall Ashton to the England squad, he's looked very good for Sarries the last 2 months, could see him doing a lot of damage running off Ford and JJ. Alongside Wade, he has to be the form wing in the AP?

I marked it as any forward or half back who started in the last game should not have been playing in the round of games just gone, less so on the outside backs

Going forwards I think all are fine to play as will have been back with the squads for 2 weeks after the 6N, and an extra week recovery time.

If everyone is looking at built up fatigue towards the end of the season then that's something I'll do too, but otherwise I won't bother

It would be interesting to see Ashton with the added creativity as he's still our best finisher. His kicking seems to have come on leaps but his defence is still 50/50. He either nails them or is nowhere near.

Had his chances but has defensive major faults flying out of the line. Good attacker but we have moved on. Also with his disciplinary record he is very hard to consider

I was thinking about his discipline as the thing holding him back as well, Wade is our best finisher - not many wings get a hat trick at Franklin Gardens - would love to see him in the England squad prior to the WC.

Should have a good test at Toulon this weekend, with all the injuries Toulon have we might actually have a chance (a very very very small chance).

Has Ashton ever got a yellow for England?

I'd like to see him tried. He played under the most defensive minded setup we've had for years. If May can score a try, imagine what Ashton can do given good ball.

I saw a quick few highlights. Looked so assured, and the two dummies he pulled off to help score the tries were great little bits of play. IF PSA doesn't consider FTD as starting, let alone being in his french RWC squad proves he doesn't have a clue!

Obviously needs to do it in more then one game but on that form would have to be the french 10. Although in fairness Plisson had a great game as well v Clermont. Kicking from hand was top class.

Have only seen some highlights but Will Skelton was immense for Tahs at the weekend from all reports. Have always thought of him as an impact sub but his fitness/work rate is massively improved this season.

Would people rate him as a starting option now in the league?

I would have considered him starting, but who would you swap him out for with your Attwood/Retalick combo?

For me I actually wondered if we would ever consider putting Billy second row? I know it would take a hit on the line-out, but Morgan is a decent jumper and underrated their imo, because we want him on the ball whenever possible.

Its all about rotation Flux Wink

Talking about young 2nd rows how would people rate Itoje now? Looking great for Sarries recently and getting more and more game time now.

Think we'd lose out at the breakdown in a big way. Billy is an explosive ball carrier but doesn't bring the work around the park you get from Launch/Lawes/Parling/Attwood. Morgan has a decent work rate but not to the levels of Read/Vermulaen/Heaslip etc so would put alot of pressure on the flanks and Cole to compete.

Do you think Cole will keep his place SJE.

Personally think Wilson will stroll back in as we need to have a go forward scrum. Our scrum went ok in 6n but we did not dominate like we were in the AI's with Wilson.
For me Wilson was the best scrummaging tight head about pre injury. Yes you miss what Cole brings around the pitch although you get less penalties.

I think Cole off the bench would work well.
He is a top player and has that athleticism that could work well there. Shame you could not mix the 2 together as wilsons scrummaging with coles work rate would be unbeatable

Itoje is having some good sub appearances but would struggle in this game SJE as he has very few if any starts in big games.
The lv cup final vs exeter was mainly reserves

Imagine he will be starting next year. Sensational prospect and looks the real deal. Really impressed

Luke jones is a real athlete and developing well.
Naholo has signed for clermont and will be a real threat in Europe.

Team of the week time.

Pollard and Perenara in again.
That is 2 powerful wingers in this week and reggie goodes at loosehead has been really impressive

That's an awful team, seem most of the games this weekend and has minimal reflection. I doubt PR see the games sometimes

Of my players in games I saw Pollard was man of the match officially and played well. Dagg had his best game of season and made some great breaks. Perenara had a good game despite the yellow card. Naholo and nadolo both had good games so from what I watched they have picked players who went well.

Disagree, TJ had worst game of season. Pollard was average. Awful team.

Pollard was official man of
The match which you don't give for average to be fair. Was not a great match but he impressed throughout.
To be fair you thought he was average when he scored 30 points and also when he tore NZ apart so it may be you.

"Pollard impressed yet again for the Bulls, kicking 16 points against the Crusaders. His defensive solidity, game management with the boot and running threat easily make him South Africa's form fly-half. Man of the Match too"

Out of interest Would you have picked nadolo and naholo?

From your random quotes, I take it you didn't see the game?

I don't understand how people can big someone up without actually watching them.....

Itoje is top class SJE, think he will become an incredible player for England and can see him getting in and around the squad next season. Only issue at the moment I see right now is that he needs to add a bit of bulk. He's best young English talent coming through by some distance.

Nyakane makes it - is he not as crap as I thought then?

I know he's my player but have quite liked the look of Jacques du Plessis since he was moved to lock - they have some good youngsters coming through in the forwards over there.

Du plessis is a monster and the Bulls are much improved. Hougaard is much better on the wing than at 9 and offers a threat for them

The worst offender for bigging up posts nothing during the game or after, but waits till a "team of the week" is published days after.

You crack me up Wink
