The League Cup Final Thread
How do we all see this one panning out? Can't see anything other than a Chelsea win myself.
Mourinho is overdue another trophy and if his men can contain the English Pele that is Harry Kane then the Blues should notch up another piece of silverware.
Over to you, fellas. Cheers

Chelsea 2-0 Spurs
A typical Chelsea performance where they grind out the win. Although Matic and Mikel are missing, I still think Ramires and Fabregas will have enough in midfield, although Eriksen's strength is finding gaps in the opposition midfield and I think that could happen often, but Ramires' energy and Fabregas' dog, scrap and battle tactics in midfield could see Chelsea through.
I don't think Kane will score, Terry and Cahill will outmuscle him in the air and with both of their tackling abilities along the floor, Kane will find it difficult to get around them and I think he will get marked out of the game. Especially with Chelsea's solid defensive shape where the full backs tuck in like CB's so there is no space to slip through balls into the box.
Spurs could score because of some of the vulnerabilities that Chelsea have ahead of this game, but I stick by my scoreline and I think it becomes unlikely that Spurs will win his trophy.

First tackle and he is squaring up to dier.
I hate that constant acting the hard man - he isn't. He is protected by being a professional footballer. Would have had some sense knocked into him if he'd been an amateur for a while.
I can understand losing the head occassionally but he's always at it.

Costa is always at it, hand in the face of Benteleb in front of the referee who does nothing.

He'll end up like suarez missing 10 games a season suspended before leaving.

Shocking goal defensively.
Lazy free kick to give away and then a shambles defending the freekick.

If he plays there more often and beefs up a bit he could be Essien 2.0.

Chelsea represent all the worst aspects of football to the extreme, it seems a breeding ground for idiots like Costa.

He isn't though, a gritty bastard wouldn't be moaning constantly at the ref, going down easily or trying to act all hard.

excellent second half that, as soon as we got the first goal Spurs never looked like coming back.

'Finals are not for playing, they are for winning'. Mourinho pretty much summed himself up there. It doesn't matter how you get there.

He's a battler for sure.
Bob Paisley, arguably the greatest manager of the twentieth century, said of the Kop: ''They were not so concerned with cultured football, but with triers who gave one hundred per cent.'' I believe that goes a large way to explaining why Costa's ugly style can still be so attractive and appealing. He may often be close to and at times over the line but he gives everything for the team cause.
