press coverage of ireland vs england
Reading the papers on Monday morning I found it very odd that the headlines suggested that England had been stopped in their attempt at a grand slam rather than the view that the favourites Ireland were in fact on course for a slam. No sensible England rugby fan would have expected to win but all to often our press seem to influence some odd opinions. Anyway Ireland roll on England get a tick for trying to play rugby but a room for improvement in game management, and hopefully a cracking game for the neutral at the Millennium stadium next week end.

Papers written for any audience will stress the impact on those readers. So should Ireland win v Wales the Western Mail will probably say something like "Welsh Title hopes Dashed" while should Ireland lose the Irish Independent will state "Irish Grand Slam Dreams in tatters".
Reminds me of the old sketch:
"Plane crashes into school, no <insert nationality here> hurt."

Or even worse, "three (nationality) seriously injured amongst the 100 killed in the crash."
