Pascal v Kovalev
God knows why this potential barn burner hasn't garnered more attention...
Question is, where in Britain is showing it? Eh?

Re: Pascal v Kovalev
I think this is an excellent match up and has been unfairly overshadowed by the Floyd/Pacman news. Kovalev is fast cementing himself as the best LHW out there and is taking on everyone who wants to fight him (except Stevenson, who ran away). Pascal is teak-tough and is no mug so should provide some half decent opposite. Many are writing this off as an easy KO win for Kovalev but Pascal doesn't fall over easy. I think it'll be all guns blazing until one of them (likely to be Pascal) runs out of gas. My prediction is UD for the champ or a late rounds corner retirement.
I have no idea what channel it's being shown on though. Shame.

Agreed, a good fight but overshadowed by THE fight.
Pascal has disappointed me in his career but I think he'll put up a decent effort but lose on points.

Every fight until about November will be overshadowed by that fight. Kovalev split decision in this one.

Re: Pascal v Kovalev
Hmmmmm, don't think this is a particularly exciting fight to call
Pascals biggest weakness is that he doesn't throw a lot of punches and doesn't have great stamina, and you are putting him in against a guy who throws lots of punches round 1-12 and each one with power. Yes Pascal is quick and skilled, but does he have the firepower to stop kovalev or make it close? I doubt it he hasn't really shown real power at 175
It may be a bit tricky at first as Pascal tries to use his speed and athleticism but Kovalev will catch him and wear him down. Is pascal tough enough to survive? maybe, but i feel like kovalev will stop him in the 9th round or thereabouts

Re: Pascal v Kovalev
Have to disagree with your assessment of Kovalev there, he is no volume puncher, it's easy to forget he was blowing at the end of the third against Cleverley. He starts fast but after the third his work rate drops dramatically and he becomes far more a boxer puncher waiting for an opening. It's the same with Pascal who starts quickly and then fades, both have stamina problems for me.
If Kovalev doesn't end it early then Pascal is good enough to see the final bell, winning the odd round here and there; 117-111 Kov.

I've never rated Pascal. Kovalev will knock him out no problem

It's on Sky sports. Kovalev points for me. Pascal has decent power so I'm interested to see how Kovalev takes his shots. Think he'll be ok and this could be a cracker.
Both seem to tire around the midway mark and that coupled with the power v chin angle should make it exciting.

Re: Pascal v Kovalev
Similar to what HH says, never been impressed with Kovalevs engine. Feel Pascal has enough to knick rounds later on in the fight and with the help of a dodgy card.

Think this is Kovalevs relatively easy here. Only question is can he knock him out? Yes for me.

I have a feeling this fight won't go past the mid rounds. Kov's going to do some Krushing.

Not got it in for anyone on here, just didn't see the point in you posting the same thing three times when everybody understood your first post. Not everyone is as slow as the Welsh mate

Pascal got out worked by a 90 year old Hopkins. Twice. How does he beat Kovalov?

My thoughts exactly, he's never been difficult to hit either, Froch caughthim left right and centre, don't think he stands up to Kovalev's thunder shots, myself. Somethings catching him at some point and I'd be suprised if he can continue on after.

Re: Pascal v Kovalev
I'd completely forgotten about this fight but will be staying up to watch it tonight.
If Kovalev doesn't catch Pascal early and close the show before the 5th I think it'll be a points win for Kovalev, for all Pascals flaws he is still one tough cookie and won't buckle easily.

Re: Pascal v Kovalev
What concerns me over Kovalev the most is his chin. As in the ams, he does have a few stoppage losses there. Also in the Hopkins fight when I think straight right had his knees buckling.
This could end up being a 3 round war as both like to start quickly.

Re: Pascal v Kovalev
I'm hoping Kovalev wins for the fights in the future that will open up. I'd be a lot more interested in him v Stevenson than Pascal. Beterbiev is also being fast tracked and has said he'd fight Kovalev now. Love to see that fight in the pros.
Chin wise, it did look (against Hopkins) that there may be a flaw there. Massive target too for a counter puncher like Stevenson. Perhaps it's going to take a few more leg buckles from Kovalev for Stevenson to get in the ring with him.
