Anthony Crolla
Great news that Crolla has been given the all clear to resume boxing.
Must have been a nightmare being so close to boxing for a world title only to get so badly injured, especially whilst doing something so public spirited as attempting to apprehend two burglars that weren't even in his own house. From what I have heard others say about him, that sums him up perfectly.
He can now get back to concentrating on his world title attempt later this year.
I, for one, wish him all the very best for the future

Not sure how clever Crolla is. He appears to have very good skills but gets into wars. He does also flatter to deceive a bit in that he has a lot of style which makes him look better than he is.
Definitely one of the Brits that is always worth tuning in for. I hope he gets another shot in the next year.

dunno how you can call him idiotic for trying to look after his neighbours and by showing the little toerags they can't get away with it. (Flippin hate scumbags that rob peoples house's and wish we had a law where it got tattoed on their scummy little heads)
Good news for Crolla, lets hope he gets another shot soon.

I forgot, someone does something like this and instead of saying fair play we should tell them how much of an idiot they are. Some people don't think in situations like these, they just react and clearly he is one of them.

Really don't get this attitude, are you related to the burglar or something?
Crolla did a good thing by trying to look after his little part of the world, too many scumbags get away with it because people do nothing.
Good on yer Crolla, looking forward to seeing him back in the ring

I think I speak for everyone when I say that if anyone is an IDIOT it's you!
In today's society where no one seems to give a toss about their neighbours or want to "get involved" it's refreshing when someone does, and they should be applauded for it not criticised

If you refuse to do anything to help your neighbours/neighbourhood then don't complain when it turns to crap.
I've got 2 kids and would rather they grown up in a (half) decent place where we help each other, rather than a craphole where we all just look after ourselves.

Can't guarantee I'd chase after my a person I caught robbing my neighbour. Might, might not... never been in that position. Can't however, see why doing so makes you a fool.

Super easy life SOF, moved into the current area 7 years ago, area was an absolute dump with kids/yoofs running riot and noone doing nothing, till my missus, decided she weren't putting up with it and reached out to hmmmmm wonder who, oh the neighbours. Got together and started reporting any and every thing with each looking out.
Whilst it's not perfect, it's a lot better than it was and is done simply because we look out for each other. Might wanna try it sometime.
Unless of course your part of the problem.

I can see soldier's point here. In the cold light of day chasing after two guys who might be carrying isn't that smart. You can look out for your neighbours without risking your health.
Its a red mist thing, and what he did is a highly commendable trait. So I say good on him for doing it, I admire him for it, but it could have got him killed ....and nearly did.
Anyway, great he has the all clear, I wish the lad the best of luck.

Thats how it came across SOF (as can be witnessed by everyone else saying the same thing)
Can someone also explain the 'grass' thing to me? don't really get the joke about making sure my kids grow up in a good(ish) area and knowing their are consequences to their actions, oh and also to respect other people???

Re: Anthony Crolla
A "grass" generally informs on others to ensure the Police go easy on him for his own pending offences. However it's now generally used to describe anyone informing the Police of nefarious activities. In some areas, being a grass is on par with being a paedo! (go figure)Derbymanc wrote:Thats how it came across SOF (as can be witnessed by everyone else saying the same thing)

I hear it a lot at our place and have often put this scenario to these knuckle draggers. "You come home to find yourMum/sister/wife/daughter etc beaten and sexually assaulted. Someone local has genuine information about the identity of the offenders and speaking up would help the Police catch them. Do you still this person is a grass?"
The scratching of heads is deafening.

It does make me wonder what some people would/wouldn't report and why not?

Re: Anthony Crolla
A lot of people on these "sinkhole" estates are actually relatively decent folk. Many of them have jobs but due to circumstances find it impossible to move. Many people on them, especially the elderly, have lived there so long, they can remember when it was decent place to grow up but either can't or won't move. Knowing that these scum will simply turn on them with little or no fear or reprisals is enough to keep them quiet. They'd rather have them inside the tent p!ssing out than have them outside the tent p!ssing in.
The air of apathy can, to those who don't live there, seem quite baffling and frustrating but when you speak out against crimes and your "reward" is liquid dog muck squirted through your letterbox*, you can see why they tend to keep quiet
* By criminals, not Police officers investigating crimes.

Whilst lots of good points, we don't know anything about the neighbour (do we?) could have been a friend of the family for years, a family member or a de facto family member.
Or as someone else has pointed out, it could have just been the red mist, not much you can do when that happens utnil you snap back in.
