I would like to see Henderson further forward. He proved this season in the absence of Gerrard he can play there.Hammersmith harrier wrote:Ideally it would be Carrick in the deep role with Wilshere further up the pitch with Delph but it's lesser of two evils really, far rather him than Henderson as the pivot.

With Liverpool not having that good a season and Henderson hardly shining then I'd say he hasn't proved much in a positive sense.
Wilshere was by far better than Henderson last week, would be another point in favour of watching games not reading them.

Nice finish. But what on earth are the defense doing.

Agree completely, I think some people confuse Wilshere being injury prone with him being anything other than a classy midfielder, he should and hopefully will be the future in that position (injuries permitting).

Not sure Hart does great either, but Cahill was poor. Why he isn't a nailed on starter for Chelsea and why Mourinho definitely has an eye on his position.

England's relative dominance not reflected on the scoreline.
Good fluidity and width being achieved in attack, although Rooney (as usual) is showing a severe amount of inactivity as the lone centre forward. Townsend largely anonymous as well.

I've watched all the games. I think you need to go back and watch Liverpool from the turn off the year up until Gerrard came back in.Dolphin Ziggler wrote:With Liverpool not having that good a season and Henderson hardly shining then I'd say he hasn't proved much in a positive sense.

March onwards was a bit more indicative of Henderson's level rather than a small sample of games where he looked capable of replacing Gerrard but ultimately isn't.

Would like to see us get Walcott or Austin on up front and get Rooney a little bit deeper. We need a link between the midfield and attack.
Lallana's coming on for Phil Jones. Either we are going three at the back or Henderson will drop into the right back position.

Our movement off the ball is so poor. Slovenia are physically dominating the game, and we're not smart enough to break them down.

All well & good from Jack, shame you can't build anything around him or rely on him to be fit. Jack can do all this vs minnows, never happening at the euros dictating like this.

Wilshere's good enough to dominate games at any level. He's just made of glass.LiamB wrote:All well & good from Jack, shame you can't build anything around him or rely on him to be fit. Jack can do all this vs minnows, never happening at the euros dictating like this.

Lol at any level, anyone can dominate given time & playing b rate opposition, that's what jack does & what Welbeck does in these qualifiers.

Wilshere's not as good as some make out but he still has more creativity in his left foot and brain than any other English midfielder.

It is a genuine travesty that Andros Townsend is considered to be an international starter

Jesus, United fans and Rooney. Don't deserve the lad, really don't.
Incredible from Wilshere, pleasantly surprised by Lallana, Sterling played alright and Rooney notched the winner. Negatives were Gibbs and Cahill.

Three good goals by England. Not the most convincing performance though. England are still to static at times and leave too much room between the lines which can isolate the defence or forward lines at times. Need to play more as a unit. Defence needs work. Not sure what Clyne has done to Hodgson?

England keep the ball well and have players capable of moments of magic to create or score goals. Defensively though.....dodgy compared to the very best teams out there. Just my opinion mind.

Agreed. He shelled two equally good chances before the winner and his all-round play was atrocious.

Great pass for Sterling in the first half, though he did waste a couple of chances.

Fairly average performance, Wilshere comfortably Englands best player by a country mile for the 2nd time in a week.

Good ole wilshire. Amazing performance. Ok a bit lucky that he had zero fatigue compared to others. But those goals were so class.
Great second half. Entertaining stuff.

Entertaining match, we should have won more comfortably, but for poor finishing from Rooney and Sterling.
Wilshere England's man of the match again, and he's been England's best player by a country mile this season.
Phil Jones should never play right back for England again. I've defended Hodgson a number of times, but I cannot understand why he keeps playing centre halves (Stones, Chambers and now Jones), at right back rather than Clyne.
Jones has regressed massively in the past couple of years. I thought he'd be a to centre half on his early showings at Blackburn and United but he's arguably a worse player now than when he first broke into Blackburn's side.

True we cannot let goals in like that. Clyne needs all the game time possible there..
In the middle f knows.
But jag has played better for country this season than club so him and Cahill although no terry and Rio are average..
Our attack looks as good as most in the world.. So it's looking ok as an England fan.
Let's hope we get a top 8 or better(shouldn't be to hard as only 8 drop out to a 16 after the round of groups.
