Gareth Davies gets a five week ban
Well Gareth Davies has been banned for five weeks and will not play until the Cardiff Blues game in May. I suppose the fact that he was ACTUALLY red carded during the game, and rightly so before anybody jumps at me, influenced the length of the ban as some punishment was served:-

He's out of the Cardiff game to the way I read it as the ban is until midnight on that day, the only game he would be allowed to play in is the Trevino away match, the Scarlet have recalled Rhodri Williams from sevens duty as cover so I doubt Cawdor will get another game this season and he has probably blown his chance of a world cup place into the bargain, 1 split second of stupidity will cost an otherwise clean player dearly.

On the positive side, getting headbutted was probably Andries Strauss' best contribution to Edinburgh this season.

Scarlets scrum half Gareth Davies has today appeared in front of an independent PRO12 Rugby disciplinary committee following the red card he received in the second half of the Guinness PRO12 match between Scarlets and Edinburgh on Saturday 28 March 2015, for a strike with the head to an opponent.
The Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Tommy Dalton, along with Mark McParland and Graham Quinn (all from Ireland), having listened to representations by and on behalf of the player and viewed footage of the incident, found that Gareth Davies had committed an act of foul play worthy of the red card and considered it to be a mid-range offence within World Rugby's sanctions for this type of offence, carrying an entry-point of 10 weeks. The Disciplinary Committee noted the player's previous unblemished record, conduct at the hearing, and that there were no aggravating factors, in applying a 5 week reduction from the entry point and suspended the player from playing for 5 weeks.
Gareth Davies is suspended from playing for 5 weeks until midnight on Sunday 10 May 2015.
Law 10.4(a) - Punching or striking. A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s).

It's rather oddly worded. It seems to suggest that the head and knee are part of the fist or arm....

5 weeks seems slightly on the harsh side.

Not really, you can hardly say there was a lack of intent on this one!
The 'he accidently walked onto my forehead 'excuse, not really going to wash here. He deserves it for sheer stupidity if nothing else!

Going by the story on the BBC it was 10 weeks, reduced to 5 due to Davies' conduct and good record.
