Welcome to Season 7 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1992.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Open Window
Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them. Teams may only bid for one player at a time.
The window will open from the 9th of June but only to those sides that finish 8th and below at first. They will have a week to make one signing each before the window is open to all.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 15:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Re: Season 7 Homepage VIII
Waldroum has been fantastic this season for Chiefs, he's one of the best forwards in the right in the AP and a very good ball in hand. Leicester went a bit wrong with him when they tried to make him play a bit more open as that was never going to work.
Exeter will be v interesting team next year with Parling replacing Mumm and it looks a dead cert Salvi will be joining them too.

Parling will be an interesting addition. Not sure Salvi will much of an improvement on what they have. He's always been a handy AP player but hasnt been that great this season.
Slater & Launchbury looked impressive over the weekend, they'd both be in my England 23.

Parling will definitely be a fine addition to the Chiefs. To be honest most sides would happily take Parling on, apart from his wages perhaps prohibiting most clubs being interested.

Not sure how Waldroum has missed out there, few other Exeter players are unlucky too, they've been incredible this year.

Can't argue with too many of those really. Would have liked to have seen Sinoti in there, think he's made the most yards and defenders beaten which is some going for the 2nd bottom team.
Waldroum should be in for Billy V imo.

Sinoti would be on the list - BV has been great for Sarries this year, easily their most improved/best player but Waldroum has 16 tries and plays for a lesser team. So agree there too.

Pro12 team of the season:
15 Liam Williams (Scarlets), 14 Tommy Seymour (Glasgow Warriors), 13 Robbie Henshaw (Connacht), 12 Peter Horne (Glasgow Warriors), 11 Craig Gilroy (Ulster), 10 Dan Biggar (Ospreys), 9 Rhys Webb (Ospreys)
8 Josh Strauss (Glasgow Warriors), 7 Tommy O'Donnell (Munster), 6 CJ Stander (Munster), 5 Franco van der Merwe (Ulster), 4 Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys), 3 WP Nel (Edinburgh), 2 Rory Best (Ulster), 1 Denis Buckley (Connacht).
Surprised no one has gone for Strauss in the transfers, he's been very good for Glasgow for a few years now.

Re: Season 7 Homepage VIII
Salvi and parling were offered huge contracts by Leicester to stay but elected to leave due to the culture at Leicester being all wrong.
Austin Healy and many others have written extensively on it.
Leicester are losing good players and replacing them with lesser ones. Lots of fans are hoping Leicester don't get in the playoffs as it would force the hand re spending on recruitment etc.

Re: Season 7 Homepage VIII
Well rumours are that Salvi wasn't offered a contract and has been allowed to leave, so unsure where you get this "huge contract" info from.
Truth is, Salvi isn't worth a huge contract when you look at the quality Ints being offered about.

You have to admire Leicester for not wanting to get drawn In to being held to ransom by players and not paying through the nose but to lose players like Gibson salvi parling etc and replace them with players from London Welsh and playees like fionua its a sad state.
Losing Jamie Gibson to their main rival club where he will not be guaranteed a place says it all really.

Gibson & Salvi are average AP players imo, why would you pay them top wages?
Fonua has been one of Welsh's few successes, he could be a very clever acquisition as Tigers miss a big carrier in the pack.

There are massive problems at Tigers because the way Cockerill runs things there, have got quite a few friends who are Tigers fans. They let Cockerill do a lot of the contact negotiations and to say he handles them badly is a little bit of an understatement. They want to miss out on the playoffs as that way it will force them into reviewing how they deal with players at the club.
Not sure how Salvi is average, he absolutely tonked us at the weekend, made the Wasps backrow look amateur in comparison. To lose Salvi, Gibson, Parling, Tait and I am sure others will follow is a worry for them.

Odd thing about Wasps backrow is that in most games they are able to bully teams with their physicality and ball carrying, but they always get humped by teams like Tigers and Sarries who are probably the two most aggressive packs in the AP.
Not sure how it happens as you wouldn't think AJ, Haskell and Hughes could get bullied at all.

Quite a bit of talk at the moment that Wasps are going to announce the signing of a big named no7. Not sure who it will be though, some seem to think it could be Armitage so he is in England for the RWC.

A pack is generally more than just the backrow though Chris.
I've never rated Salvi as anything more than a AP player which is pretty much what he is. He's never had a sniff at Int level as he's not good enough. He's been a good servant to Tigers though, you need non Int players like Salvi through a season.

Pretty sure he was Aussie u20 captain, got quite a few caps for the Aussie 'B' team and then injuries hit him before moving to Bath and then to Tigers. Pretty sure he's been nominated 3 times in 4/5 seasons for AP player of the year too.
Would certainly take him at Wasps as we are in desperate need of someone to get turnovers.

Hughes has the most turnovers in the AP Chris.
As I said, he got nowhere near the Int team. He's been a good AP player over the years but I don't think he's anything past average, it's only an opinion.

Will be slightly later this year Bam. I have exams 2nd week of June so will be some time after that.
We are due the annual thread for rules discussion etc and it will be up soon. Next season will be kicking off late due to the world cup. Season doesn't begin until the knockout rounds of the WC as far as I'm aware.

I think both deserved. I hope Waldrom tops the try scoring record for the league as he deserves some recognition for what he has done for the Chiefs.
Wouldn't mind too much if Waldrom is England's 3rd number 8 for the RWC

Waldrom done really well. He is so good in the toght and on the lineout drive. Wonder how many of his tries have come off that?
Him ewers and Salvi has a great balance for next year and would be one of the better units If not the best in league. ewers should kick on more and improve his work rate and off the ball. He improved massively this year.
Waldrom is not an int for me he does not have the speed required for the way we want to play. Fine player and was good at Canterbury also. He is a throwback to the old days.

A lot of players on there who have had good prem seasons who would not do well the next step up. How Kvesic is not 7 is mystifying. Rather see one from a proper paper or reputable source. Marler had a tough season at start of year. Also as much as I don't rate him tom Youngs has been best hooker in country by about a million miles

It's just done on AP performances, I don't think potential to step up to the next level is brought into consideration.
Youngs has started only 10 AP games, hard to include him on that stat alone.

Youngs was out injured a fair while early season, but his form had been excellent since coming back.

Clark has been the best 7 for me, closely followed by Louw. Otherwise Kvesic is fighting for 3rd place between braid, Haskell and burger

Not doubting he's played well Pete, I just don't think you can make a team of a tournament having started less than 50% of the games. It would be the same in the 6N, WC etc, I think that's pretty fair.

I'd of picked James Haskell at 7 if i'm entirely honest.
I'd argue a case for Ally Hogg aswell, if he was playing in a top 6 pack he'd be talked about as one of the players of the season.

I don't disagree Pooly. Not sure that would be the team I would pick though.

Re: Season 7 Homepage VIII
There's been some great 8 performances this season though (Hughes, Waldroum etc), Hogg hasn't been at that level. Haskell has tailed off a bit although he started the season really well.
Yea a few I wouldn't go for too Pete, Wyles is a slightly odd one.
