2015 World Championships - Discussion Thread
First topic message reminder :
So another world championship at The Crucible is upon us. Who will emerge victorious and be crowned the world champion? For me a lot depends on the early rounds. Players who will get better as the tournament goes on I feel will be the likes of Neil Robertson, Mark Selby and John Higgins so them avoiding an early exit will put them right in contention. Obviously, Ronnie O'Sullivan will be one of the favourites and his chances will hinge on avoiding top notch match play players ie Mark Selby and John Higgins in the latter stages. Ronnie is at his best in matches against expansive shot players who play an open game and whose misses leave chances. This year it is wide open I think so here is hoping we have a great fortnight of snooker. Enjoy and start discussing here when the matches get under way........

First 2 frames shared and that's all Stuart has to do. Shaun is running out of time

A loose shot from Murphy and Bingham is handed a golden chance in frame 28.

Bingham in again and he won't get a better chance than this to win the frame.

Ooooh Bingham misses the black off the spot on 47 and Murphy is out of his seat like a whippet.

This has become a massive frame now. If Murphy wins it this will hurt Bingham.

Superb. Just superb from Murphy. What a break of 75 to pinch that frame and he is most definitely back in the match trailing 15-13.

Tremendous break and somehow Bingham loses a frame where he gets in the reds/blacks first!

Ooooh long red missed by Bingham. Is the pressure telling?

Ooooh error again from Stuart. Chance missed and he breaks down on 17. Pressure continuing to build.

Are the cracks now widening in Stuart's game? I hope not but there are worrying signs in these last two frames. Murphy takes the final frame before the interval and Bingham leads 15-14.

The break obviously not helping Bingham and his momentum after that shot, quite poor.

Murphy looking the more focused and confident just now....until then. An unexpected miss on the blue. Now can Bingham mount a counter attack?

Re: 2015 World Championships - Discussion Thread
A big chance missed by Murphy then with that blue. Chance for Bingham to take control of this frame. By no means out of it though Murphy after that, did really well to get himself just 1 behind.
Although, a bad shot from Bingham swings the initiative back to Murphy. Tension is the obvious answer as to why both layers shots have been below par in these early stages. This is a great chance for either player to taker this frame with the spread of the balls.

Frame-winning chance now for Murphy to level it up at 15-15.

Wow an unexpected miss by Murphy but Bingham can't capitalise (he was snookered though) and Murphy goes favourite to win the match now considering that Bingham looks to be cracking.

Re: 2015 World Championships - Discussion Thread
Once again, another poor shot that was just a simple pot. And then, a much tougher shot and Bingham misses, giving it all back to Murphy, great chance now, surely he must finish this one off?

Re: 2015 World Championships - Discussion Thread
Murphy's frame now we must feel unless something catastrophic happens in the next few minutes. Levelled up now. The first frame is the most important to win, now he has 3 in a row and its 15-15. This is big.
There will be all sorts of reasons for Bingham's failure should he not win this. Inexperienced in big finals, Murphy being the better player imo, cue action when under pressure, tension, thinking he has won the match when he had a solid lead? All these factors could have affected Bingham's performance. But, there are still 5 frames left to play.
Winner takes all...

Expected that then from Murphy. I doubt he would take another risk after the last one on the yellow could have cost him if it was a fraction weaker Bingham's shot. Better to be safe than sorry.

Bingham a bit like a punch drunk boxer at the moment, taking punishment and hanging on - barely.

But the chance only brings a handful of points and he only has a safety shot here but has a handy 30-9 lead.

Longest frame of the match and still half a dozen reds on the table. You feel this safety battle may help settle Bingham down a bit. Critical frame this.

But Bingham catches a safety shot too thick and Murphy with a chance now - won't be easy though.

Hmm poor shot choice by Murphy and his break comes to an abrupt halt and we are back to more safety.

Unbelievable. Cracking pot by Bingham but deflects into the pocket for a foul. Murphy now has a great chance here.
