glaws score a try. chip and somewhat fortunate gather by Meekes.
this could be a high scoring match in spite of the first 30. these players are going to be dead on their feet.

Gloucester looking very good so far - dominating up front too.

Re: Glaws v Exeter Challenge Cup semi
13-6 at half time. reasonable reflection of possession. glaws getting most of refs calls their way, reflecting their possession and forward momentum.
think this one is wide open. glaws players look more tired to me, so i wouldnt be surprised to see exeter come back strong and take this one.
very clean so far. great hard spirit to the match.

If there's a commentator worse than Dewi Morris I hope I never hear them. I've had to mute the second half.

have to say these scrum pens against exeter are pretty consistently harsh.

Edinburgh v Gloucester it is then - on this showing I'd have preferred the chiefs!

overall deserved by glaws. home advantage proved big on this night i think. think the refs interpretation of the scrum proved influential.

Looking forward to seeing AND hearing the highlights.
Was rooting for Exeter, but here's hoping that Gloucester go on now and win it at HQ.

Probably not, but I can think of the best commentator ever: Jiffy .

As a neutral who has only seen the highlights I thought the same. Exeter seemed to be in no trouble in the scrum but the scrums were collapsing as soon as any pressure was applied. Again as I said I only saw the highlights but the penalties against Exeter looked very harsh.

did not see the game. Just read 3 different match reports that seemed to suggest Exeter were under pressure at the scrum throughout the game.

Re: Glaws v Exeter Challenge Cup semi
It was a very enjoyable game, only slightly ruined by some questionable decisions at the scrum... Gloucester got away with a lot, especially Nick Wood.
By the looks of things the final will be an extremely enjoyable game, which is the benefit of the Challenge Cup. The semis were both excellent. This Cup may not matter that much in the great scheme of things but that just seems to liberate teams to play a bit more. And it still means enough to the sides that are in it that they will both go hard for 80 minutes at the Stoop.
Robson is even more annoying that Dewi Morris with his new gimmick; he doesn't talk about phases, he talks about 'stanzas of play'. GTF Robson... eejit.

Re: Glaws v Exeter Challenge Cup semi
Its going to be an interesting final.
Edinburgh will keep it tight and hope that their forwards maintain their usual vice like grip over the set piece. The likelihood of this increases if players are rested for Zebre this weekend and David Denton makes it through the concussion protocol to start, which Solly has indicated that he will. Clyne is a 75%+ goalkicker, so it is definitely a way to win the match.
Cherries will hope to use that sparkling backline as guys like Fife, Visser and Strauss have won very few medals for their defensive work. Coastal erosion is able to change direction quicker than Jack Cuthbert so I am assuming Tom Brown will be considered as a possible starter.

Ref clueless at the scrum tbh ... Glaws seemed to be driving in and dropping all the time but somehow Chiefs got pinged - very strange interpretation ...

You're a good'un, RDW. I always said so.RDW_Scotland wrote:Even though it is 2 weeks away I think a thread is in need!
And I would just like to make it absolutely clear that I, or another of my Edinburgh fanboi buds, would be happy to start it.

I think that we need to nominate one of our lot who are usually 'work shy' in that respect to get their finger out and do a thread.RDW_Scotland wrote:I'll do it tomorrow if no one else has, but it won't be nearly as good as one of yours GC....

Re: Glaws v Exeter Challenge Cup semi
Now why can't we play like that all the time? There were some fortunate scrum decisions but regardless for the first 65 minutes we were dominating the scrum. Most importantly the level of intensity we brought to the breakdown was excellent and not many teams out muscle the Exeter pack but we certainly did. Hibbard had his best game for us, Savage was excellent and Galarza showed what we've been missing all season.
It sounds like Glaws will be packing the numbers in at The Stoop. Our allocation of tickets sold within a few hours and large numbers have been buying them from Edinburgh's website.

I am a firm believer in the skill of delegation (by me to others).
And clearly unlike you two, some of us have employers who expect us to actually do some work during designated office hours.

Yeah, there's a lot of unhappy Edinburgh fans on social media!
I bought mine with 10 minutes to go against the Dragons so I'm fine!
