Yep, been posting there since 2006.
There were far too many WUMs on there, especially during the big games.

Greetings all to fellow ex-606ers out there! Gboycottnut is now an active fellow member of this new excellent discussion forum which sure looks like being miles better than the previously used and now sadly deceased forum.

Does anyone know if this new exciting forum will be open for 24 hours a day or will it annoyingly stop operating at 11 PM every evening like the previous forum?

Hi Boycs - look forward to hearing a good Yorks view on cricket issues. Would be great to get the Yorks county page going strong.
Seems to be going pear shaped against Sussex at the moment!

Would have been absolutely fantastic during the ashes series but at least now there will be a chance for us to discuss in about the current day's play of a test match which is on during the night. Also does anyone know how many people who used to discuss regularly on the former 606 forum have now moved onto this new forum, or are there rival forums out there which many others have moved onto?

Good to see a few familiar faces from 606 on here.
I suspect some of the other 606 regulars may have ended up elsewhere (JA606, for example). Nice looking forum, but very slow at work and prone to crashing...unlike this place.

Re: ex-606ers
I'd imagine they're having some problems again swatpulla, it did seem to happen to them a fair bit (to be fair, it always will with a new forum). I thought they said the BBC was fine with them "copying" 606...

Haven't spent much time browsing on JA606 but it did seem to be a bit pointless trying to recreate an exact replica of 606.....

Re: ex-606ers
Another former 606er, although I rarely contributed to the cricket board (couldn't get past the absurd India v Pakistan WUMming that occurred on ever thread).
Tries to register on JA606, but it's blocked me out, so I'll see how this one goes - would like it to have a few more members, but maybe it will pick up as of today and the final closure of 666.

Re: ex-606ers
Dummy.....I see from another thread that cricket posts went past 2000 on May 25th. At current rate of progress will pass 3000 in next day or so.
Even allowing for test match a 50% increase in overall posts within a week is a pretty rapid increase....
Agree about 606: incredible number of posts (a) India v Pakistan WUMs (b) Tendulker vs Ponting (yawn) and (c) isn't it about time Bell was dropped or promoted.

Corporal - you overlook that we never got a definitive answer as to whether Bradman was better than Pele!

Re: ex-606ers
I must say I found the infestation of (mostly but not only Indian) WUMs in the dying days of 606 particularly annoying. People like HippoCrite, WORLD CHAMPIONS 2011, and a few others. At least SCA was kind of amusing, the new breed of WUM was just really really irksome.
Thankfully we don't have any of them here, and this place is picking up very nicely...

guildford - I assume you are meaning at squash, where The Don was NSW champion, while Pele had a few social games. I think that clearly demonstrates the greatness and superiority of Bradman...

Re: ex-606ers
Oh, and as for activity on the boards, this one does seem to be quite lively, whereas some of the other sports I'm into (rugby, tennis, motorsport and cycling) are as yet quite slow. As I said, maybe it will pick up now that Aunty Beeb has closed down the original board, especially if JA606 are having problems.

Don Bradman almost took up tennis instead of cricket, so I reckon that'd be a walkover

I used to be on 606 a while ago but gave up after the nth time of arguing the merits of Alan Knott over Dhoni... Pleased this board seems quite active, I love my cricket I do.

Hoggy you're probably right. Thinking about the story about the young Bradman practising batting with one stump - he'd be brilliant at hand eye co-ordination!

Re: ex-606ers
I used to try to WUM back at the Indian WUMS - I had 36 nicks banned...the mods were incredibly biased in favour of the Indian WUMs at the expense of everyone else...I reckon I'll just retire from the WUMing game...

I'm another ex-606er who was put off the cricket boards by the amount of rubbish you had to wade through.
Still bouncing after Monday afternoon! I hoped, so was listening, but didn't really expect, and then - mass panic!
