Omar Figueroa Misses Weight Again

Even at 140 he can't make weight... Comes in at 141.5 and Burns comes in at 139.5. Hopefully Burns gets a bit more dough, reckon that would come in handy for him...

If he's filed for bankruptcy the courts control his finances for the next 12 months. He gets a living wage while they divide the rest between his creditors. So he won't get anymore regardless of purse size.

Have you got a source for that Strongy (and not just a 'well when I went on my tour of vietnam the guy in the bunker next to me had just opened this law shop up' type)

Oh and most of his money was spent trying to get the wages owed to him by a different promoter.

Haven't read anywhere that he's appealing, I think he's accepted it and has become bankrupt. Poor fcuker. I'd expect him to lose to Figueroa too.

Let's not turn this into another Ricky Burns Bankrupt sh*the can he win or not most important thing surely. A win turns his career right around

I've not a lot of time for professionals who forget that is what they are.

You don't go through 10wks training to fall foul of weight issues, unless you're sloppy.

Burns got robbed if you ask me, Cole defo had a 'payment' from Haymon.

Didn't get robbed, scorecards were too wide but it wasn't a robbery.

Figueroa is gonna struggle against the top guys at 140 and 147

Hes tough but is an attrition fighter, wears you down, and he just simply isnt as good at that at the higher weights

When the referee and judges are that pro the house fighter Hampo it's a robbery, Burns had no chance of winning that fight ergo robbery.

Not for me, right man won. Scorecards were wide yes, but the right man won. Just a shame he's a bit fat, useless waste of space.

Listening to Halling and Watt too much. Burns won at least 7-5 on my card, draw with two joke deductions, 116-110 x2 117-110 straight from Texan book of judging for a Texan fighter. Figueroa is going no where.

Exactly it doesn't have to be an incorrect winner for it to be a robbery, Burns had no chance of winning that fight even though he was clearly winning more rounds than Figueroa.

McDonnell getting the decision but Burns didn't. Proper backward...thought Kameda was a Haymon fighter

Travesty when Burns loses but it's ok for Beltran..

I didn't see the fight so cannot comment on the decision. However, I don't like to see the fight allowed if one fighter doesn't make the weight. I know it might seem unfair to Burns to miss out on a payday but I'm sure Figueroa and his team knew days, possibly weeks ago that he couldn't make weight. It seems unfair on Burns that he dehydrated down to the contracted weight but his opponent didn't.

How many times when one fighter has made weight and the other fighter hasn't, has the fighter who made weight won? I can't think of any recent examples.

I watched it. They actually showed it live on CBS (terrestrial telly). No way the points margin should have been that wide. I have no problem with Figueroa getting the decision but it should have been much closer on the cards. Bit of a scrappy fight with a lot of leaning and clinching, but overall more entertaining than last week's superfight.

I wonder if McDonnell is going to start getting some credit now, often dismissed as a paper champion but he's now won the IBF, WBA regular and beaten the WBO champion. As it always seems with current British boxers has a lot of heart and resillience; Ceja and Kameda were no pushovers.

Absolutely Hammersmith I was gonna put on Kameda to win actually then I rewatched Ceja and McDonnell and thought "Actually when he finds his groove he's bloody good"
