Dernbach called up to England Squad for 2nd Test
It is now being widely reported that our very own Jade Dernbach has been drafted into the England test squad for the 2nd test against Sri Lanka at Lords.
This is another step in the meteoric rise of Dernbach, it was only over the winter that he was called up to the Lions squad. Flower and Co. obviously feel that he has what it takes.
Finn is perhaps more likely to play, but nonetheless this is a siginficant step for Jade.
Great News!
p.s. Matthew Dunn has been called into the Surrey team for the ongoing CC match at Derby.

Tibor - I agree that Finn is more likely to play at Lord's, his home ground. However this is still 'another step in the meteoric rise of Dernbach', as you say. Very well done to him!
Oddly, Dernbach hasn't been Surrey's best bowler this season. That's been Stuart Meaker (currently injured) by some distance. Nonetheless, I think that his call up is justified in view of his work and progress over the last year together with his considerable success for the England Lions in the West Indies over the winter and against Sri Lanka the other week.

Agree all the above. Well done Jade - even though he hasn't actually done all that much for Surrey this season, with exception of our win against Leics.
Interesting angle on discussion about Adams and Hyphen and their success or otherwise at Surrey. Looks as though the entirety of our four established pace bowlers are currently unavailable for selection. But someone somewhere in the Surrey establishment deserves some credit for Tremlett, Derbach and Meaker all coming on "apace" - even though the team itself is scrabbling around to field a half credible attack.
Pleased to say that HM Queen has granted her loyal servants an extra day's leave today - in lieu of her birthday. Which, sadly, means another go at the barrack room windows
