Thurman Vs Collazo
Not the best fight. But I guess Bradley is tied up. Brooks team don't want him just yet, Khans team most certainly wouldn't touch him with a barge pole, probably can't get Manny or Floyd, too high risk for little reward. Maidana would have been good but sounds like he doesn't want it just yet. Broner and Porter tied up, so probably one of the better options that was left available. I like Thurman and this could act as a slight learning fight as he has pushed good fighters hard before. Would have preferred Berto out of the guys available personally though.

As you said not an awful lot of options out there but this really wont show us anything, its just a stay busy fight and Thurman shoukd cruise, too big and too strong for collazo

Khan fights him and he's a bum, Thurman fights him and it's a decent learning fight
Oh well

Loads of people were picking him to knock Khan out! A case of retroactively becoming a bum.

Very different? Khan has been a unified champion, Thurman is still on his way up. And I most certainly would never call Collazo a bum, if you do, you're an idiot.

Collazo is more then washed up tho Alex.
Another example of a seen better days pro getting a lucky payday. Judah has been living off handouts for last 3 years now and the Ortiz win was a lucky punch in my view

Collazo is probably past his best but the Ortiz fight wasn't a lucky punch, he was outboxing Ortiz in spots and creating openings and gazzumped (Thats a word now) him.

Fairly awful choice of opponent really, an over the hill never that good boxer who is coming off a one sided loss to Khan, there is no chance in hell he's the best available opponent.

Re: Thurman Vs Collazo
Berto, Rios, Alexander would all be preferable, Brook wants to fight again in August, could have got something done with Porter, Khan or Bradley. He however seems happy to going back to fighting the second, third or even fourth tier at 147lbs after a good win over Guerrero.
It's easy to say everyone is tied up but they haven't been for the two preceding months, there's a lot of jostling going on but Thurman alongside Khan is by far the worst for it. You can only get away with these crap match ups if you're fighting regularly, by years end Brook is looking to have four defences under his belt as long as they include Rios and another top guy then that's good going.

Berto only fights once a year and fought in March, he'll be on holiday until next year.

Re: Thurman Vs Collazo
Rios is a human punchbag and is Taylor made to be battered if you have skill or power.
Would rather see Thurman vs Porter/Alexander/Berto/Broner etc
All better than collazo who just isn't very good and I expect Thurman to put him away handily.

Brook rios is sensible matchmaking... Because its a name without a threat. Hardly going to set the pulse racing though.

Disagree milky, don't see how you can write off Rios that easily.

Re: Thurman Vs Collazo
When he can't bully people with his size I don't think he brings too much to the party at an elite level. I suppose if you ignore how shot Alvarado was, and ignore that chavez got a gift against Bradley to give that unsatisfactory win greater credit then you can make a case. I'm sure Eddie will in the run up, but if you have pretensions to elite level you're beating the likes of rios in my view. Hence why I think its good matchmaking if it happens... The name is greater than the threat. Ricky hatton made a career out if it.

Rios isn't in Brook's league..............Or if he was he isn't now...........
Eddie is doing a Quigg v Martinez..............Search around for a name to shut up the fans that is a winnable fight....
Then again that's his job...........
