v
Man City
+ Feel that Kondogbia is an excellent foil for Toure in the centre of the pitch, compliments him well and gives Toure the freedom to go forward with the ball
+ Bale away from the cauldron of Real and being CR7's bitch should flourish
+ Physically, there's a core of strong players
- Silva plays better in a free role, Bale's given that, not sure both can maximise that
- Lot of pressure on the wingbacks, against a natural left winger then I think Zabaleta will struggle the longer the game goes
- Question marks over the form of Kompany & Mangala
- Targeting of Boateng may be a mistake, apart from match v Messi (who could tear any defender a new one) his form has been excellent
- Not convinced Bony is the guy to spearhead a team challenging for trophies
Dortmund
+ Solid looking back four, think that centreback pairing is one that would work nicely
+ Playing a higher line squashes the midfield which combats their central strength
+ Pace of Aubameyang a key to unlocking opposition
- That central midfield could blow over in a light breeze
- High line of defence allows Bale to hit on counter, risky tactic
- Hugely reliant on Veratti in centre of pitch, Kagawa has one of the worst tackle rates in the game, he's not helping.
- Like Man City, is Benteke of a level high enough to be leading the line?
Result
Man City 3-1 Dortmund
Bale x2, Silva - Aubameyang

v
Porto
+ Chemistry remains throughout the team due to not much tinkering
+ Threat coming forward down the flanks from the WBs especially against Cuadrado who's not received much game time of late
- Clearly the side is the weakest in the league and badly needs work doing on it
- The right side of defence will be torn asunder with two attack minded WBs leaving Reyes exposed and out of his depth
- Can Frank last a full 90 mins against his old team?
Chelsea
+ Similar to Porto, the side hasn't seen a huge changeover of personnel
+ Muller is a fantastic addition, for me the best in the world at what he does
+ Alaba & Muller targeting the flank left by Alves could be akin to Germany v Brazil at the WC
+ Otamendi is also an astute purchase, fairly fast, physical player though be wary of his height, not the tallest CB
- Cuadrado when getting game does make a decent RWB, I'd be wary of playing him until that happens
- Without Hazard it's missing that little spark of genius to turn a game when Plan A fails
Result
Porto 0 - 3 Chelsea
Muller x 2, Cahill
--------------------------------------------------
v
PSG
+ Nullify the threat of Costa extremely well
+ Outpaces the opposition in the centre
+ Ibra dragging Hummels with him gives opportunity for Cavani 1-on-1 with Koscielny
- Whilst Pastore is a keen tackler for a forward looking player, it's a big ask to control that left flank
- Also prefer to see Gundogan playing a deeper role where he can control play more
- Playing a high octane pressing game then I'd expect the team to flag as the game goes on, look to make more use of subs
Bayern Munich
+ Overlapping play on the flanks huge threat with the options available and against players out of position and VDW
+ Quality players in every position, no real weakness to first eleven
+ Combats the man marking of Alonso well by letting him drift forward and having Modric take that role
- Midfield pairing can be quite crab-like, a b2b style player may be required
- Hummels may be chasing shadows with Ibra
Result
PSG 2-3 Bayern

v
Real Madrid
+ A forward three of Sanchez, Aguero and Ronaldo will punish any defence in the world
+ Martinez adds protection in front of the defence
- The Pepe idea, I just don't see it working for 90 minutes
- Navas going long to Tevez may be the longest goal kick in the world to the treatment room
- With Kroos playing B2B it leaves Martinez isolated at times in midfield
Barcelona
+ Much more solid looking defence than RL
+ Overall a much more resilient Barca team
+ Overwhelms Real through the centre at times
- Tikitaka in style but not in formation, generally it suits 4-3-3 or 4-1-2-3, not 4-2-2-2
- With two forwards looking to split the defence I'd be looking to see instructions for a rampaging midfielder to exploit the gap

Result
Real Madrid 4-3 Barca
Aguero x2, Ronaldo, Sanchez - Messi, Suarez x 2

v
Arsenal
+ Clearly done homework knowing Atletico would be looking to have wingers switch flanks at times
+ Excellent balance to team throughout
+ Lovely clear instructions to all team members, everyone knows their role well
+ Going forward have a lot more to offer than opposition
- A lot on Wilshere's plate to take things forward, not sure he's up to that against better midfields
- Arbeola and Chesney are also weak links, in other leagues keepers are ignored, with the quality of players in this then not so much
- When Griezmann switches against Arbeola then he's in for a torrid time
Atletico
+ Fantastic purchase in Toprak at the back, fills the gap left by Godin
+ Midfield pairing lots of drive going forward
+ Like the change in tempo as the game goes on
- Would have looked to target the likes of Arbeola sooner in the game
- Mix up with who's partnering Toprak in tactics
- May get out muscled in the centre of the pitch

Pre-match
After an exciting draw against Chelsea we now come up against Dortmund, who must be reeling with the loss of so many quality players recently. We have pace and trickery in abundance so I want to see you following my instructions to the letter – if we wear them down with Bale’s pace, Bony’s power, Toure’s drive and Silva’s passing then they’ll be ripe for the taking. They have lightweight playmakers in their midfield so I want to see Kondogbia and Toure on top of them for 90 minutes, while the three at the back soak up whatever pressure their strikers can muster.
Attacking
1. Bale to have a free role, but predominantly attacking Jerome Boateng, who hates being run at with pace. Get on the ball, use your teammates’ runs around you to distract the defence, get past Boateng and put the ball in the net!
2. Bony to use pace and power to overcome Subotic; back into him, tug his shirt, move him about with your runs and above all, ensure you’re in a good position for crosses into the box.
3. Silva to orchestrate play, look for the full backs on the outside and use Bony’s runs to release Bale into space. Toure and Kondogbia to be the enforcers in the middle, Toure being the one who gets further forward but both snapping into challenges to put the frighteners into the opponents.
4. Zabaleta and de Sciglio to provide the overlap and get balls into the box when they get the chance, Bony will be in space in the box and Bale will be lurking as well. Toure making late runs into the box will surprise them so try to take advantage!
Defending
1. Three at the back - Kompany to man-mark Benteke; stick tight to him, kick him, pull his shirt, make sure he knows he's in a battle and put him off his game. Never let him get goal side. De Vrij and Mangala have plenty of pace to deal with Aubameyang, one of you stick to him while the other marshals the back line.
2. Kondogbia and Toure to stamp their authority early and often on the likes of Verratti and Thiago – as Dortmund lack Bender they have a soft midfield. I want you two to rip this belly apart, they can’t create anything without central midfield and this is where we will win the game.
3. Zabaleta and de Sciglio to keep their wingers on the outside, make sure if they cut inside that either Toure or Silva are there in body to allow you to shepherd them inside for us to win the ball back.
Sub: 70mins – de Sciglio off, Clichy on – same as before, use Clichy’s fresh legs to attack the opposition defence and put them under concerted pressure.

General
I've gone with a very attacking side in a 4-1-4-1 formation, similar to Arsenal with 2 attack minded CM & extreme pace on the wing to combat the pace City offer. Benteke upfront to bully whoever plays next to Kompany. I've got a fast defence so we'll play a higher line forcing City on the back foot.
DEFENSIVE TACTICS
Boateng pick up their main striker, use your pace, height and strength to your advantage, do not let him settle, Subotic pick up any free player or runner. FB show their wide men the outside forcing to cross which I feel we have an advantage. Thiago & Kagawa press their midfield and Verratti to pick up anyone in the hole. Aubameyang & Mkhitaryan track back with your pace.
ATTACKING TACTICS
Piszczek & Schmelzer overlap giving us the width on the outside and getting crosses in for our attackers. Mkhitaryan & Aubameyang use your speed to make runs off Benteke who will flick ball on and get inside on to goal. Verratti dictate the tempo keep the ball ticking always demand the ball. Kagawa & Thiago take turns to attack make runs into the box play a passing game with Verratti. Benteke strong and physical bully opponent flick ball on and be aware of crosses.

- Defense will hold a high-line. Let's look to make things 3 against 2 to stop any counter attacks at all times. Defense will close the gap between each other and will always look to remain on their feet forcing tight marking.
- Both Wing Backs will press high up the pitch. Both will implement tight marking on both wide-players. Match them pace-for-pace, looking to always stay close, remaining on feet at all times to block the cross. Look to push the FB's backwards by pushing forward with space supporting the midfield
- Fernandinho will act as the plug. Sponge up pressure protecting the back 5. Physically man-mark the advance midfielder and look to double up by floating out to each flank.
- CM's. Keep possession. Looking to drive the team forward by picking up both wing-backs and both forwards, with slick passing on the floor. Look to spray balls between the FB & CB picking out the advancing forwards. Lampard in particularity will look to ghost around the area.
- Brahimi will shadow Martinez in the number.10 role. Otamendi and in particular Cahill both lack the pace so both forwards will look to play off the last shoulders and feed off the CM's through balls through the middle.

Overall
We've gone with 3 at the back this week with Terry and Hazard out injured. Looking for Matic and Ramires to take turns sitting in front of the back 3 and breaking forward, with Alaba and Cuadrado being ideal wing backs in this system. Fabregas to knit the play together and look to play balls into the front two.
Defence
3 experienced centre backs at the back, but Ivanovic is strong defensively on the right flank to cover for any defensive lapses by Cuadrado, and Ramires is also used to defending on the right wing. If we are overrun defensively, we can go back to a 4-5-1 easily with Alaba and Ivanovic the full backs and Muller pushing out to the left wing.
We have 3 CBs to target their main striker, we expect this to be Martinez. One CB to go tight and another to look for the run in behind, Otamendi will primarily play the sweeping role with his pace.
Porto set up with wingers last week, if they do the same then we have the wing backs to defend them, if they begin to overload the flanks then Matic/Ramires will be responsible for helping on their side.
Attack
Use the three central midfielders to control the play, if Fernandinho is the sole defensive midfielder then Muller can drop off and play alongside Fabregas, giving one of them space. Lewandowski to lead the line and look to win aerial balls, and pull the CBs out of place with his movement.
Alaba and Cuadrado to give us width, plenty of crosses in towards Muller and Lewa
We want Cesc to play through balls with the wing backs aiming to cut in if possible

GAME PLAN: Justice! We were harshly punished against a side we pushed all the way last week. The fixtures aren't any easier so lets implement a similar game plan and look to frustrate our opponents in possession and look put some points on the board. From the forwards, I want to see high tempo pressing throughout the entire side. Nearest man will always look to close the ball down with the objective to force Bayern and in particular Alonso to be wasteful in possession. Plug the gaps and force them to play backwards or attempt to play the long ball forward where our 3 centre-backs will look to drown out the aerial threat of Diego Costa.
DEFENDING
Turning to a 3 Centre-Back system, Thiago Silva will once again marshal the back-line holding a deeper line to limit the space behind. Both Silva / Papastathopoulos will play as limited defenders who will both tightly mark out Costa winning all aerial challenges. Luiz will play slightly in-front and will look to match the secondary striker with his pace. Both wide-players will have a defensive duty, in particular van der Wiel, to closely mark and limit the crosses from both advancing Full-Backs. Matuidi will play the ball-winning midfield role, man mark the advancing no.10 midfielder keep things very simple where Cabaye will support. Defensivly the objective is to tightly man-mark you player looking to always remain on your feet.
ATTACKING
Both forwards will look to press and plug the gaps forcing the Bayern midfielder's into their own half with no alternative to play backwards or an aimless long ball forward. Both Wide-Players will look to overload the width by pushing the Full-Backs backwards forcing any wider player's to do their defensive jobs. Capitalizing on the lack of pace in midfield, we will attack through the middle with short, slick passing with plenty of movement. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will look to come short drawing the markers out of position using his size / strength whilst Gundogan & Cavani will look to take advantage with their pace off the last shoulders of the defenders with Pastore occasionally cutting inside.
SUBS: If winning. On 70 mins, Maxwell will replace Javier Pastore. Maxwell will play LWB with GVDW playing RWB in a 5-3-2 system.

Team Talk: Up against Enigma always an annoyingly solid tactician, He's injuries mean a lack of width barring 3 at the back or Pastore/Cavani out wide so shall look to get the ball wide and exploit them like Viva & Taxi men.
Defensive Tactics
- Hummels to pick up Ibra and push him away from goal and get tight to him so never gets a chance to settle on the ball.
- Koscielny to pick up a 2nd striker if is one otherwise look to clear up anything wide your pace that gets in behind and watch for AM's coming through
- Lahm & Bernat look to force their wingers inside towards the midfield to stop them getting balls in the box.
- Alonso to sit and marshall infront of defense and look to cut supply into Ibra/Cavani
- Modric to move about and look to get into their faces..
- Cazorla to sit on their deep laying playmaker and stop him dictating play
- Wingers to track back and double up with full backs
Attacking Tactics
- Lahm & Bernat to get up the pitch and support the wingers, Robben/Reus will cut in so Lahm/Bernat to go outside and whip balls in for Diego
- Alonso to sit and spray balls out wide & into Cazorla, If they try man mark you then drift forwards and Modric will go deep.
- Modric to drift about midfield and look to link the play up and look for balls over the top of the PSG defense for our wingers, If Alonso is being man marked take on the deep playmaker role
- Robben & Reus look to run at the full backs and get yourself in behind, If cut in off the wing either shoot or play sliderule passes. If get forced down the line knock it back to Lahm/Bernat for crossing if can't get space.
- Cazorla to drift about and try get Matuidi's attention and pull him out of position, Look to get the ball and shoot from range or play balls in behind the defense
- Costa to back into Luiz/Sokratis whichever is playing and look to bully them physical and give them a battle, Look to get the run on them when crosses get in the box and make diagonal runs in behind the defense.
If losing - Harry Kane for Santi Cazorla & go 4-4-2, If winning then Medhi Benatia for Santi Cazorla and go 3-4-2-1

Tough but winnable game against Barca, they have some world class players in their side, however we have some world class players of our own to hurt them and cause them real problems. Our front four with assistance from the fullbacks should create plenty of chances, and in midfield we have a trio who can dictate the game in Martinez, Pepe and Kroos.
Navas - Distribute from the back to the fullbacks/CM's, stay in communication with your defence throughout, be wary of long range efforts and ensure you stay big for any one on ones. On occasion go long for Tevez.
Ramos/Chiellini - Chiellini to mark Suarez, force him high up the pitch thus limiting his impact close to goal, and Ramos to be the spare man, be first to the second ball and their second striker/AM making runs from midfield. When in possession bring the ball out of defence and use the midfielders ahead of you to help us play out from the back. Both of you go forward for setpieces.
Debuchy/Marcelo - Both of you to force the Barca wingers out wide, do not allow them to come inside as this will cause more problems for our midfield. They will want to cut inside so force them outside and block their crosses at source. They will try to create problems infield so its vital you only show them down the wing. When we have possession, push forward and support Sanchez/Ronaldo as they will try to run inside the fullback and you will provide the overlap to either create space or supply crosses into the area for Aguero and link with Kroos. You will need to track back very quickly to ensure we don't get caught on the break.
Pepe - Man marking Messi today, stick to Messi as if your life depended on it. Niggly fouls away from goal are fine. Disrupt his flow with subtle kicks and pushes, make sure whenever he has the ball it's with his back to goal, and don't get into a position where he can run at you. If he does that, bring him down early and as far away from goal as possible, the earlier you foul him, the less the chance of a yellow card.
Martinez/Kroos - Martinez to patrol infront of the back four, if they play an AM stay on him, but don't follow if he drifts wide. Be first to any loose balls and in possession look for the attackers and pass rather than bring the ball out. Kroos the box to box man, assist Martinez and the CB's in dealing with the Barca attack when we don't have the ball, but in possession get forward, use your physical presence and ball playing ability to our advantage, link with Sanchez/Ronaldo and look to create chances for Aguero. Remain composed throughout.
***If Pepe gets booked, Pepe and Javi Martinez to swap roles to avoid anybody getting a 2nd yellow card.***
Sanchez/Ronaldo - Both playing out wide and both have the pace and trickery to beat the Barca fullbacks and get crosses in, but both of you will also have our fullback overlapping giving you the chance to cut inside and get shots in. Look to supply Aguero with chances and also provide yourselves with chances. Link up with Kroos, and capitalise on the space Aguero's presence will create for you. Without the ball I expect you two to track back and assist your fullback.
Aguero - you will be expected to occupy the Barca centrebacks, hold up possession and look to turn the defender and shoot. Be strong in the air and look for your teammates trying to pick you out from deep. Shoot on sight. Stay on the last defender's shoulder for any passes in behind.
Subs 70 mins:
If winning: Kroos off, Coquelin on. Coquelin playing deeper alongside Pepe and Javi in a 4-5-1, with Sanchez and Ronaldo playing deeper. Absorb pressure and look to hit on the counter.
If drawing: No changes, Kroos into a more advanced AM role, switch to 4-2-3-1 and push for the winner without overcommitting.
If losing: Martinez and Chiellini off, Coentrao and Pereira on. Switch to an attacking 4-3-3, back four of Debuchy - Ramos - Pepe - Marcelo, Kroos in a quarterback role starting attacks from CM with Pereira RM and Coentrao LM, behind the front three. Coentrao can swap with Marcelo on occasion. Sanchez moves to RF, Aguero CF and Ronaldo LF. Push for goals.

TACTICS
We're going back to the old style Barcelona today. High pressure and tiki-taka football. We have four good defenders unlike the real life Barcelona team, who can hold a solid unit at the back and in front, we have the four midfielders and attackers who will press from the front with a real intensity. Do not let them settle on the ball and do not let them get any sort of rhythym in the match, so their attacking players can't get time on the ball. Kroos and Koke are their orchestrators in midfield, but if they don't make many passes in the game because they are under pressure then they can't play.
Going forward, I want Messi and Suarez to drift wide and get in between their defenders, looking for the space. Run with the ball and constantly be on the attack, forcing their defense as deep as possible. We have four midfielders who are all capable of passing the ball and being patient, look forward for the pass but if it's not an option keep probing, waiting for that lapse in their defense. Gaya and Danilo can also join in the fun overlapping and providing the side with width. Be patient and get the opening. Busquets should drop back and be ready to be a third centre back if both full backs are forward so that we can match their front three. Particularly target De Sanctis in goal, and Debuchy at right back.

General gameplan:
The general gameplan against Atletico is to play our football and control the game, i want us to play free flowing, positive football from the start. Movement is key on and off the ball as Atletico won't be easy to beat. We want to make sure our possession counts and make sure that we get 3 points on the board from this match.
Defending:
Our back line needs to be organised and alert throughout as players like Griezzman will punish us given half the chance and Atletico should have a full strength team out today. Varane you will be marking the Atletico striker who is likely to be Giroud today, don't let him command that area and make it difficult for him to play his game. We want the power and protection of Khedira to allow us to do this and that is what you will do today, just sit in front of the back 4 and command that space, make it your own. Wilshere you will be required to get back and help protect as well during the game when the possession turns over. Arbeloa and Monreal you are both tasked with watching the Atletico wingers, don't let them have time on the ball and don't let them cut inside. Watch out for the wing swapping as they played that tactic last week against Real Madrid and it can be hugely effective if executed properly and we want to stop that from happening.
Attacking:
My plan for the attacking side of our game is to look to work the ball through the likes of Wilshere then onto Ozil, Gotze and Turan to make things happen in the final third. Ozil you have the job of roaming just in between the Atletico midfield and defence in a central number 10 role and i want you to always be looking to slip passes through to Mandzukic and looking to use the options out wide. We can take advantage of the wide areas i feel today as the likes of Griezzman will be looking to push on leaving space behind for Turan and Gotze to roam into and get crosses into the box from wide or even cut inside and have a go yourself. Wilshere i want you to get beyond Khedira in support of attacks so that we will be an attacking midfield of 4 behind Mandzukic at times. Mandzukic i basically want you to just get involved in the game, get in and around the defence and look for all sorts of service coming into the box, on the ground and in the air, i want constant movement from you to open up more opportunities in attack.

75th Minute - Flamini on for Wilshere to sit and keep control of the midfield.
80th Minute - Welbeck on for Mandzukic to freshen up the attack.
90th Minute - Rosicky on for Turan and to move into more of a central attacking role to close out the game.
v
- Atletico:
- Fixture 2 and we're playing Miky and his right wing sociopath's. We are changing our formation to a more balanced 433 style. We have a couple of new signings in the team but they have already bonded with each other and would DIE for each other that's how close they are. We have sent our spy Arda Turan to Arsenal to get some Intel and put some dodgy stuff in their drinks.
---------------------------------------------------Oblak---------------------------------------------------
Juanfran ----------------- Toprak ----------------- Miranda --------------------- Alba
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------ De Rossi -----------------------------------------
------------------------- Ramsey -------------------------------- Pjanic ------------------------------
Griezmann ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Montero

Subs - Alderweireld, Rafinha, Arteta, Xavi, Jese, Torres, Perez
Captain DE ROSSI
CK'S PJANIC LEFT. GRIEZMANN RIGHT
FK GRIEZMANN
PK GIROUD
DEFENCE
Oblak will look to command his area. His height will help him deal with aerial balls and will use his good reflexes to save any shots. Full backs will look to start of with a neutral mindset and make syre they are not caught out of podition early on. As the match goes on, Alba and Juanfran are to help out in attack aswell by making overlapping runs and supporting my wingers. Get in crosses if you can aswell. Toprak is my new signing and he will go straight into the starting lineup partnering Mathieu. They will probably be up against Mandzukic, my former diciple. Stick close to him and be aware of his heading ability.
MIDFIELD
De Rossi will be the defense mid, he will look to put in tackles and hound the Arsenal AM. Don't stray out of position and use your brilliant interception ability to steal the ball and launch a counter attack. Ramsey and Pjanic will be the box to box midfielders. They will look to pass the ball forward and make attacking forays through the middle. Keep things simple, shoot if you see a chance. Griezmann will start on the right but I want him to keep interchanging with Montero to confuse the opposition. Him and Montero will look to get some crosses in for Giroud to convert. They will also help out in defence by tracking back when we don't have possession of the ball.
STRIKE
Up front will be the frenchie Giroud. He will be the target man and will look to use his height and physical presence to his advantage. Link the play, pass the ball to the wingers and use your excellent positional play in the 6 yard box to score.
Subs if LOSING BY 65MINS
Put on Torres for De Rossi and Pjanic moves to AM. Change formation to 4 1 2 1 2 with Torres partnering Giroud up front.
Subs if WINNING BY 65MINS
Take of Pjanic and put on Mario Suarez play deep defensive hoofball. EVERYONE WILL DEFEND.
Subs if DRAWING BY 65MINS
Torres for Giroud, Xavi for Pjanic and Jese for Montero. Keep same formation.
Result
Arsenal 2-1 Atletico
Gotze, Turan - Griezmann

Re: Week 2 Results
Good tactics Enigma, I wasn't expecting that kind of set up at all
Real v Barca looks a quality game on paper, agree with the result though

We made the best of a bad situation BamBam
There is potential in that Porto side but it really does need a shake up if it's going to compete against most sides in this league.

Wouldn't be opposed to them getting a load of cash and be able to make a few TPs if they have a committed manager

Re: Week 2 Results
Personally I think Porto was the wrong call to add to the league at the time, Utd despite not being in the CL this season still have enough of a squad money wise to shake about and make something decent of, Porto though are just too far behind.

Re: Week 2 Results
Liverpool would also be an interesting choice. There are a handful of players there who would be of interest to any manager inside this league if we had to stick with the 2014/2014 Champions League Format.
Apart from that I'd probably suggest teams like Roma, Monaco, Schalke or CKSA Moscow Perhaps?

Roma's been raped already on here transfer wise though.
Don't think anyone has touched Liverpool for transfers.

Nice one Hero
The Pepe idea was purely down to Isco and Koke being injured, meant Kroos was my only attacking CM option. Ideally Kroos and Javi are the partnership or with Isco in a 4-3-3.
