I thought the tournament finished after the Djoko Nadal match?

Re: French Open Day 12 - Let's just carry on quietly
First of all congrats to Novak and Murray.
Novak was too good for Rafa this time, from start to finish. Rafa clearly was not ready to face this Novak. So we have the SF of two players who haven't lost any match on clay this year! They're both at 15-0 on clay so far this year. It should be a fascinating match; from what I'd seen of the Murray/Ferrer match, clearly Murray was playing well. In fact Ferrer wasn't bad and fought hard to win a set, I even felt that Ferrer was playing better tennis than Rafa at the moment!, at least Ferrer was more aggressive in his approach.
Novak has the edge I feel, still, anything can happen out there, so not ruling out a Murray win though.

Williams v Ivanovic is what I expect the final to be.
Safarova can make it past Ivanovic, as Ivanovic is prone to implosions.

Safarova's been playing some great stuff this tournament, I've caught a few of her matches. Bacsinszky seems to have no fear whatsoever, so maybe she can pull off the upset...who knows?

Use to really fancy Ana. Then she got skinny. Too Sharapova-esque for me. Gimme Kerber and Lisicki any day.

Well Safar-so-good has polished off too-thin-for-some Ana 7-5 7-5 despite a blip serving for it at 5-4. Punishing ground strokes from her but will she freeze in the final ? She won't be the first to do so.

Well done Safarova - she's beaten Lisicki and 2 former champions, Sharapova and Ivanovic - well deserved place in the final. Really impressed with how she's played this tournament - here's hoping she plays well in the final.

This board is terribly sexist since the women tennis players are just objects of sexual desire.

This has pretty much been a feature of womens tennis since Chrissie Evert, or earlier.

Lets not have too much of this eh? Keep it nice and light. Theres just not much interest in Womens tennis on the board, or on the whole compared to the mens. Like me, its not a sexist thing, im just not that interested, not since Henin went the first time.

Re: French Open Day 12 - Let's just carry on quietly
I can only wish for a competitive final. Safarova has come far in her quest. She will need more power than what she showed v Ivanovic. From service for the first set at 5-4 to losing it and then getting close but crumbling with errors and DFs shows the service still has it yips.
Ivanovic should perhaps consult Djokovic for some tips on service motion and pace generation.

In any case, Drama in the womens semi, as Serena looks really ill, like a fever, not looking good and 3-5 down

Ivanovic could really have had a handful of slams by now. A combination of her chronic case of the yips, and maybe chasing the modelling money a little too hard (I believe her weight loss circa 2009-10 was for photogenic reasons, not athletic? Although this was never substantiated, and probably can't be substantiated).

The serving yips did for her surely. Great pity, she looked a real deal and had her game matched her looks she'd have been out-earning Federer.kingraf wrote:Ivanovic could really have had a handful of slams by now. Whilst I admire Serena Williams and everything she's accomplished in the game I would rather see a new player win this title rather than an unconvincing/crocked/unwell Serena not playing at her best.
If she is on her way out here, lets hope she can re-group and that at Wimbledon we can get a classic powerfest of a final between Kvitova and Serena.

Quite right...I noticed that too.
A clearly ill Serena evens it up, and takes the match into a final set....

Found the problem with watching this semi. Nick Mullins and Marion Bartoli, not only are they soo one sided, Marion just shouts and breathes into the mic.

Bacsinszky from being 3-2 up in the second set is looking to lose the second set.

Bacsinszky, from being up 3-2 in second set, did not win a single game, and lost 10 games at a trot. Can Safarova provide some competition please?

Temp 21. Why does TV insist on having match commentators whose first language is not English ? Marion, Fabrice - and Boris B before them - are OK when asked to comment before and after matches but absolutely hopeless during matches.
Still, the palm for the worst sports commentator ever goes to Ann Jones, the 69 Wimbledon champion. Truly dreadful.
