Play abandon. Correct decision, when something as serious as this happens, doesn't matter who wins a game of cricket.

JimBob - thanks again, heard that too.
In the circumstances, sounds encouraging news about the players.
Completely agree with you and Nick about abandoning this game.
Guess tomorrow's CC match at Guildford will go ahead but without Third Degree and Moises. That's disappointing but irrelevant in the scheme of things. Best wishes to both.

Extremely alarming news. Hope that both players seemed to be conscious as they left the ground is a good sign. Fingers crossed for both of them.

Per David Fulton on Sky a few minutes ago - both players conscious and the injuries not life threatening although one of the players may have a broken jaw.

Re: Surrey vs Sussex sharks NATWEST T20 BLAST
A report on Sky during the ODI coverage says that Henriques came back to consciousness very quickly but Burns took much longer to come round.
As has been said Henriques reportedly gave the crowd a wave and Burns a thumbs up as they left the ground.
Rumour is that one of the players may have a broken jaw however.
Wish for the best and hope for good news basically.
I'd also like to give some praise to the officials and crowd as well. A situation such as this is very difficult to deal with and a decision is often dawdled over, understandably so of course. However it sounds like all officials involved and both teams came to a swift decision to halt the match and the crowd reportedly applauded the announcement as they felt it was the correct decision. Wonderful to see such common sense and sportsmanship from all involved in such a situation.

Exactly as Carlos says.

From Surrey twitter - ''Henriques has had an x-ray on his jaw and is awaiting results. Burns waiting to see a specialist and chatting to staff.''
Sounds encouraging given the circumstances.

One of those unlucky incidents - seems as though both will come off ok (although be out for a while)

Re: Surrey vs Sussex sharks NATWEST T20 BLAST
With our CC match against Glamorgan starting tomorrow at Woodbridge Road, I'm guessing you'll be in attendance Guildford?
I wonder if KP might make himself available for the match with Henriques and Burns now surely unavailable along with Sanga and Davies? Maybe a return for Solanki?
1.Harinath
2.Ansari
3.Sibley
4.KP or Solanki
5.Foakes
6.Wilson (wk)
7.Burke
8.Batty
9.Curran
10.Tremlett
11.Dunn
With Curran needing a rest I guess Kapil might be given a go to stretch the batting line-up.
Pietersen certainly has good memories of Guildford should he fancy another FC match!

Re: Surrey vs Sussex sharks NATWEST T20 BLAST
Carlos - yes, I'll be there tomorrow. Sadly the Corporal and his loyal brother-in-arms ChichesterSurreyFan have been summoned north of the border (even further north than Watford) on matters of urgent national importance and so won't be with me this year. I hope to get along on some of the other days as well but will need to duck and dive there.
KingDaveEagle may not feel the same but I genuinely believe that Pietersen would be keen to play tomorrow to help the Club out (it was after all the unavailability of Sanga and Roy that led to him agreeing to pitch up today). However, I don't believe his international commitments will permit it.
I also understand that Wilson will be with Ireland and so unavailable.
On this basis, I expect both Solanki and Kapil to play alongside the others named in your team. One other possibility might be Meaker coming in; if so, most likely for Dunn. Curran will have to wait to put his feet up.
I'm assuming that there's no deterioration in the conditions of Burns or Henriques and the match goes ahead as planned.

Re: Surrey vs Sussex sharks NATWEST T20 BLAST
JimBob - Erasmus has played for Guildford (along with Burke) this season and so would be a popular choice. Even though he's done well recently for the seconds and we have major unavailability, I can't see him making tomorrow's eleven. He could be on drinks duties though.
Btw, we play Hants in two back to back t20 second XI games at Purley on Tuesday. Heaven knows who'll play in that!

At least Linley has just been sent out on loan to ease the injury issues...

Re: Surrey vs Sussex sharks NATWEST T20 BLAST
To confirm -
* Moises Henriques has his jaw broken in three places. Op to follow and then dental surgery
* Rory Burns is awaiting stitches to head and facial injuries
* Both players reported to be in good spirits
* Tomorrow's game at Guildford goes ahead as planned.
JimBob - thanks for alerting us initially and for the updates. I'm sure we'll all forgive you for the Surrey v Glam CC thread being put up late,
Finally, best wishes to both players and thanks perhaps for a reminder as to what is really important.

Cheers for the update guildford and also thanks to JimBob as you say.
Glad to hear both are in good spirits and wish Henriques especially all the best recovering from what is a very nasty injury.
