Ezzard Charles ranked a spot below LaMotta, I think, as well! Kevin seems fond of heavyweights, although not those who left an indelible mark on the game in other divisions, it appears. Oh well, Bleacher Report articles always come with an inherent health warning and it doesn't do to take them desperately seriously.

As captain said, you can kind of forgive someone like the Bleacher Report site because by its own admission it's a jack of all trades / subjects and doesn't take itself too seriously.
Problem is, there are loads of sites / magazines who model themselves as an authority on the subject who trott out the same kind of nonsensical, cliche-riddled lists. The forumla seems to be something along the lines of: 'Make sure Ali and Robinson are the top two, over-egg the list with way too many Heavyweights based purely on their fame regardless if they only fought 3/4 top opponents, give La Motta a decent placing in the top thirty or so because he beat Robinson (don't mention the fact that he lost the other five, though, or that he won the title against a crocked Cerdan, or that he missed out on facing a few of the other leading Middles in his day etc) and because his life was featured in Raging Bull.
'Then give the current-day leaders of a pack a spot, but make sure it's right near the bottom to show how knowledgeable you are and how little today's fans know, and then just chuck in a few random Featherweights and Light-Heavyweights plucked out of thin air and with no real logic or reason. On that note, make sure Archie Moore is higher than Ezzard Charles, because the fact that Moore kept winning while he was really old and was a bit of a character means more than the fact that Ezzard went 3-0 against him and has a record which generally piddles all over Moore's.'
