Re: Results - Week 6
PARIS ST GERMAIN vs MANCHESTER CITY
PSG Points:
- Like the defence you have Enigma, although Maxwell could be improve on.
- Not sure about the midfield two - not a lot, if any creativity in that area of the pitch without Cabaye. Personally I think if you're playing Matuidi/Busquets you need them as a two behind somebody in the hole who is more creative.
- Big fan of the defensive tactics, no need to needlessly press in a 4-4-2 formation. Although it does invite pressure on.
- Your attacking tactics need work - think you need to place more emphasis on getting Ibrahimovic involved in the build up play - not just getting crosses into him.
- Selection - as already said would've gone with Cabaye in CM, but other than that spot on. Maybe Lucas instead of Pedro, but it's pretty equal.
Man City Points:
- Restricted by injuries, but I'd look to improve on Mangala being your 3rd CB. Big big fan of you using Toure in the AM role, where I think he is most devastating.
- Think I'd place more emphasis on getting Silva involved with the build up play - he is the real creator of your side. Maybe consider a diamond midfield, with Bale up top next game.
- Like the use of Martinez, think you've played to his strengths.
- Like the tactics used against Ibrahimovic - that's how you get to him.
Final Score - PSG 0-1 Man City (Bale 46 mins)
Overall comment - This is a tight game, with PSG playing a good defensive gameplan. However I think they struggle badly in the middle of the park to just get a grip of the ball, to allow their 4 attacking players to be the outlet. Think Cavani/Ibrahimovic struggle to get into the game, feel feeding off crosses is a little bit of a waste of their talents. However think PSG are set out well in defence, and manage to restrict Man City to long shots with their deep line, however Bale manages to get one to swerve past the suspect Sirigu for the win. Neither sides subs effect the game, something they can both improve on in the future.

GAME PLAN: Momentum! Following last week's excellent performance, let's look to implement a similar game plan and use this momentum against a plucky Manchester City side. With Wilfred Bony forced out the side, we're likely to be up against the pace provided by Bale, Martinez and Silva in what will most likely be a 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 formation. Using the classic 4-4-2 shape, we will implement two lines of four where our mission is to adopt a defensive shape by closing down less, forcing the opponents to really move to break down both flanks leaving their FB's heavily exposed.
DEFENSIVE TACTICS: Holding a deeper line from the last third, Thiago Silva will once again marshal the back-line to nullify the pace and limit the runners getting in behind. The entire back-line will hold their defensive shape, implement tight-marking and will always look to stay on feet in challenges. Both Full-Backs will play limited roles where they will use their experience to slow the wide-player down and look for support provided by our own wingers by pushing inside into our CM's. To save energy, we will close down much less and adopt a defensive shape forcing Man City to have to really push down either flank to work any openings.
Silva will act as the limited defender picking up the advanced striker where Papastathopoulos will pick up the advanced midfielder / secondary striker. With Toure or Silva likely to drive City's midfield forward, both CM's will pick up the most advances players by showing physicality to win every challenge and second ball to break up the play. On the attack, look to keep things simple.
ATTACKING TACTICS: Defensively, Cavani will look to close the defensive midfielder down who will most likely to be Fernando. Both Wingers will also look to hold a disciplined shape by doubling up with both FB's from the half-way line then push also to close down any advancing Full Back.
Regardless of if City play a 4-3-3 or a 4-3-2-1, the wide-players will leave the FB's exposed so we will look to hit them on both flanks and exploit the wings by flooding the box with both fast and at times early deliveries into the box. From crosses, I'd like to From crosses, I'd like to see Ibrahimovic peel of his markers onto the back-post and expose the lack of height that both FB's lack, particularly any of Pablo Zabaleta or Gaël Clichy who are both under 6 Foot! Cavani will look to make a nuisance of himself by looking to pick up any knock-downs or ricochet's from the crosses by getting between the 'Keeper and marker at the front post.
ON 75 MINS: Michael Carrick will replace Blaise Matuidi. Fresh pair of legs in midfield where Carrick will always look to move the ball forward.
ON 75 MINS: Lucus will replace Pedro. First and foremost, still need to support the FB so look to put a shift in defensivly. Look to carry the ball 20, 30, 40 yards cover and exploit the the tiring FB.
ON 85 MINS: Jean-Christophe Bahebeck will replace Edinson Cavani. Look to plug the gap stopping the defensive midfielder from playing.

Pre-match
I want to see you keep up your good form with a big effort against PSG this week. They have a good midfield and are dangerous up front, however I feel we can keep them on the back foot and exploit their defensive frailties. I want the defence to stick to the game plan, keep your shape and play physical with the attackers, while our midfield works tirelessly to win the ball and get Bale and Martinez to attack with their pace. If you work hard together and put in a full 90 minutes, we will bring three points home with us!
Attacking
1. Martinez to use pace and power to overcome his marker; if they want to stay tight on you, keep moving and ensure that there is a space for Toure to drive through the middle. With Bale and Silva creating chances behind you your running will be key – keep those CBs moving at all times!
2. Bale and Silva to create chance - get on the ball, beat your man either inside or down the line (keep him guessing), then either put crosses into the box for Martinez, Toure and Kondogbia or get a shot on goal. Swap flanks for spells too, allowing Bale to cut inside on his left and wreak havoc.
3. Guarin and Kondogbia to be the enforcers in the middle, Kondogbia being the one who gets further forward but both snapping into challenges to put the frighteners into the opponents. Toure, Bale and Silva will all be outlets to when we have the ball, give it to them and support them when you can. I also want Toure to be right on top of Matuidi, cutting off their supply from the back and winning the ball back high up the pitch to spring chances quickly.
4. Zabaleta and de Sciglio to provide the overlap only if both Kondogbia and Guarin stay back – I don’t want PSG’s wingers with space to run into. Either get the ball to Martinez up top or look to free your winger ahead of you – the main aim is to keep possession with no mistakes.
Defending
1. Two man CB team today, Kompany to man-mark Ibrahimovic: stick tight to him, kick him, pull his shirt, make sure he knows he's in a battle and put him off his game. Never let him get goal side or drop deep without you shadowing him. Mangala to marshal the back line and watch for wingers cutting inside – if they do, I want you there to deal with it.
2. Kondogbia, Guarin and Toure to stamp their authority early and often on the likes of Busquets and Gundogan – Matuidi will relish a physical battle but no player likes being closed down and hounded. If you keep PSG’s midfield under wraps then they cannot create chances – it’s up to you to keep hustling and snapping at their heels.
3. Zabaleta and de Sciglio to keep your wingers on the outside, do not let them drift into space at any time and make sure if they do cut inside, that either Bale or Silva are there to backfill your spot while you shepherd them inside for us to win the ball back.
Sub: 70mins – de Sciglio off, Clichy on – same as before, use Clichy’s fresh legs to attack the opposition defence and put them under concerted pressure.
PSG Points:

Re: Results - Week 6
REAL MADRID VS JUVENTUS
Real Madrid Points:
- Obviously you know, your front three is quite tasty. Like how you use the midfield three, think they really compliment each other lovely.
- My only issue with your team is right back - don't think Ivanovic has enough going forward as you instruct your FB's to do. Your keeper can also be improved on.
- I don't think you've used Aguero to the best of his powers. I think you'd be better off him coming in short, with Ronaldo/Hazard making penetrating runs off him, or behind him. If you're playing him on the last shoulder I think you need somebody in a specific AM role to force a CB out, giving him space to run into.
- If you're having wingers cut inside, play Ronaldo LW as his shot is more devastating than Hazards.
Juventus Points:
- It is hard to fully judge you this week, with the injuries you have received.
- I like the gameplan of using the pace out wide and in attack. I would however look to make more of Isco, think you have underused him here.
Final score - Real Madrid 2-1 Juventus (Ronaldo 45, Aguero 79 - Depay 12)
Overall Comment - I think this is a fascinating match up with the injuries Juventus have got this week. I think they play it really well, and start off the game with Depay causing Ivanovic issues ultimately ending in a goal. However it is dangerous to sit back against a team of such quality when it is Ronaldo against Evra, and Madrid get a goal before the half. Second half is much of the same, however Madrid make a match winning sub when they change to the 4-2-3-1 formation moving Iniesta into the AM position, allowing him to cause issues between the lines the 4-3-3 didn't. And it is from here, Iniesta creates the late winner for Aguero to tuck home. If Juve had all their injured players fit, I think this is a draw, and they nearly got one anyways, but Madrid just edged this one with their subtle change in the second half.
- Real Madrid Tactics:
MarkyREAL MADRID v Juventus
Injuries: Javi Martinez, Jerome Boateng, Fernando Pacheco, AbnerMorgan De Sanctis
Branislav Ivanovic - Nicolas Otamendi - Giorgio Chiellini - Marcelo
Javier Mascherano
Toni Kroos - Andres Iniesta
Cristiano Ronaldo ------------------------ Eden Hazard
Sergio Aguero
Subs: Helton, Mathieu Debuchy, Fabio Coentrao, Theo Walcott, Stevan Jovetic
-----------------------
Need to bounce back from dropping points last week and get stuck into this Juventus side, they do have some great players but with injuries not having a massive impact we are at full strength in all of our key areas, the front three of Ronaldo, Aguero and Hazard should have plenty of joy against this Juventus side, especially with support from Marcelo, Ivanovic, Kroos and Iniesta. Mascherano at DM will be able to hold the fort if we are caught on the break but this shouldn't happen as without the ball we will have everyone except the front three back behind the ball.
De Sanctis - Distribute from the back to the fullbacks/CM's, stay in communication with your defence throughout, be wary of long range efforts and ensure you stay big for any one on ones. On occasion go long for Aguero.
Otamendi/Chiellini - Chiellini to mark their striker, force him high up the pitch thus limiting his impact close to goal, and Otamendi to be the spare man, be first to the second ball and their second striker/AM making runs from midfield. If they play two strikers Otamendi marks him and Mascherano drops deeper. When in possession bring the ball out of defence and use the midfielders ahead of you to help us play out from the back. Both of you go forward for setpieces.
Ivanovic/Marcelo - Both of you to force the Juventus wingers out wide, do not allow them to come inside as this will cause more problems for our midfield. They will want to cut inside so force them outside and block their crosses at source. They will try to create problems infield so its vital you only show them down the wing. When we have possession, push forward and support Ronaldo/Hazard as they will try to run inside the fullback and you will provide the overlap to either create space or supply crosses into the area for Aguero and link with Kroos/Iniesta. You will need to track back very quickly to ensure we don't get caught on the break.
Mascherano - Mascherano to patrol infront of the back four, if Juventus play an AM stay on him, but don't follow if he drifts wide. Be first to any loose balls and in possession look for the attackers and pass rather than bring the ball out. If they play 2 strikers drop back to help Otamendi and Chiellini.
Kroos/Iniesta - Kroos the box to box man, assist Mascherano and the CB's in dealing with the Juventus attack when we don't have the ball, but in possession get forward, use your physical presence and incredible energy to our advantage, link with Iniesta/Ronaldo/Hazard and look to create chances for Aguero. Remain composed throughout. Iniesta the playmaker, without the ball drop alongside Kroos and Mascherano but in possession bring the ball out and look to create chances for the front three. Without the ball Kroos helps Ivanovic and Iniesta helps Marcelo to prevent 2 on 1's.
Ronaldo/Hazard - Both playing out wide and both have the pace and trickery to beat the Juventus fullbacks and get crosses in, but both of you will also have our fullback overlapping giving you the chance to cut inside and get shots in. Look to supply Aguero with chances and also provide yourselves with chances. Link up with Iniesta and Kroos, and capitalise on the space Aguero's presence will create for you. Without the ball I want you to drop alongside the midfield three to be solid then burst forward on the break. Both of you switch wings regularly to keep the Juventus fullbacks guessing.
Aguero - you will be expected to occupy the Juventus centrebacks, hold up possession and look to turn the defender and shoot. Be strong in the air and look for your teammates trying to pick you out from deep. Shoot on sight. Stay on the last defender's shoulder for any passes in behind.

Subs 70 mins:
If winning: No changes, Kroos playing deeper alongside Mascherano as a DM, Iniesta just ahead in a 4-5-1, with Ronaldo and Hazard playing deeper at RM and LM. Absorb pressure and look to hit on the counter.
If drawing: No changes, Iniesta into a more advanced AM role, switch to 4-2-3-1 and push for the winner without overcommitting.
If losing: Otamendi and Chiellini off, Jovetic and Walcott on. Change to a 3-1-4-2, back three of Ivanovic - Mascherano - Marcelo, Kroos the playmaker from deep, AM four of Walcott - Iniesta - Hazard - Jovetic with Ronaldo - Aguero upfront. Push for goals, we must not lose this game.

Team Talk
This week we are reverting to a 4-2-3-1 formation with the emphasis on soaking pressure for periods of play and making the most of set pieces and counter attacks. Injuries to key players have forced us to alter our game and we’re aware Marky has retained the core of his Real side, we expect him as a result to have the majority of possession, so we’ll look to soak, reserve energies for protecting our half and then hit in bursts using the speed of our wingers and the free kick specialist in Pirlo. Not going to pretend this is easy, but we can hold our nerve and come away with at least a point if we know when to strike.
Defence
A back four with Laporte given the role of picking up the main striker as they enter threatening positions, be aware of their movement but ensure you don't get dragged out of position. Barzagli to assist where required but to pick up threats from their wingers/AM etc if they break into the danger zone. Fullbacks to shepherd their wingers on the outside, no rash challenges and going to ground, slow their attacks down and block crosses. Only look to come forward when the opposition have over stretched and there’s a possibility to outnumber them on the counter. Don’t be afraid to hit a long ball for Neymar to run on to.
Pirlo main defensive of midfield trio, look to stay back when our FBs go forward. Vidal to be the warrior in the middle of the pitch, get at the opposition and niggle Kroos, ensure he doesn’t get into his stride early on. If it means a cynical foul on the half way line so be it, better than one near the box. By squashing up the play it limits their creative play of Ronaldo and Hazard, don’t give them room to dictate the play.
Attack
Pirlo playing deep & given the playmaker role, be the outlet for our counters and look for the movement of our attacking options with balls into space. Isco to link up play as the highest positioned central midfielder, stretch their defence out to you, look to run with the ball, draw their players then release it to our flanks.
Speed abuse on the flanks with Depay and Aubameyang, look to hit them on the counter, look to collect the ball in space, alternate between coming inside and going past the man on the outside.Neymar the lone front man, be ready to pounce on balls from our defence when pinged past the defence and beat the offside trap. Also look to combine with Isco, hold up play when needed awaiting the movement from your teammates. Don't feel restricted in your positioning, tell Chiellini that Suarez said he tasted like his mum and hopefully that'll get him sent off.
Subs
Mertesacker, Hernandez, Caceres, Marrone, Pererya, Cambiasso, Lichtsteiner
If winning at 70m: Cambiasso for Isco, a 2nd wall for Real to penetrate, close play quickly in your own half.
If losing/drawing at 65m: Chicarito for Isco, Neymar to drop deeper while the super sub goes up front and to use his speed and poaching to nick a winner
Real Madrid Points:

Re: Results - Week 6
ARSENAL VS DORTMUND
Arsenal Points:
- The first thing that stands out to me Miky is the lack of instructions/a subs bench. This is an area your tactics can improve tenfold.
- I don't think you've made best use of Gotze. I understand you have three good midfielders, but I'd sacrifice one to get Gotze into an AM role where he is best.
- Considering Modric is injured, the midfield three is still damn sexy
- Think you need to make more of Alves going forward, he can be real a gamechanger in an more involved role. Ansaldi needs to be improved on.
Dortmund Points:
- Love the balance of your side, think you have a lot of players who compliment each other nicely.
- I'd look to improve on Motta and Jakub personally - think those should be areas you target
- Think you've got the tactics spot on - especially playing the wider man narrower.
- I'd be half tempted to play Zouma ahead of Pepe if you are looking for an enforcer CB against bigger strikers.
Final score - Arsenal 1-2 Dortmund (Turan 83 - Tevez 21, Oxlade Chamberlain 62)
Overall comment - I think Dortmund win this game with an excellent gameplan, which gets them on top of the Arsenal midfield by bringing the wider men in from the wings, allowing them to effectively press in the middle to win the ball back, and then the overload works nicely. I think Arsenal lack a little bit of direction in the full back area, and could make better use of Gotze. Obviously Modric is a big miss, especially on the ball. Arsenal also struggled to change the game from behind in the second half. Dortmund almost give it away by taking off Thiago for Bender, but just manage to hold on.
- Arsenal Tactics:
HolymikyInjuries: Joel Veltman, Mathieu Flamini, Damian Martinez, Luca Modric.
-----------------Ospina-------------------
Alves---Ogbonna---Varane---Ansaldi---
-----------------Khedira------------------
--------Herrera----------Marchisio-------
Turan---------Mandzukic----------Gotze
Overall Team Talk:
Viva’s Dortmund side usually play 4-3-3 with plenty of pace on the wings. We also want to keep Tevez quiet throughout the game by not allowing him time and space on the ball and looking to get in behind. Alves and Ansaldi you will need to get back as much as you get forward to make sure that we don’t get caught out in the wide areas. The plan is to get at them from the very start.
Defensive Tactics:
Defensively as previously mentioned, we want to be solid. Alves and Ansaldi you both need to put a huge shift in and match the pace of the wingers. Varane I want you to stick with Tevez, stay tight to him and don’t allow him time on the ball. Ogbonna you will be tracking the runs of the oncoming midfield players and also looking to cover for Varane by watching the runs of Tevez. Khedira you have a big job again today as you will be looking to squeeze that central midfield area and your duty is to provide a screen in front of our back 4 patrolling the space in front.
Attacking Tactics:
Attacking wise we are going to play our passing game looking for space, working the ball into dangerous areas. We want to use the whole pitch to our advantage by spreading the ball around and possessing the ball, always looking to attack. Marchisio and Herrera I want plenty of energy from both of you as always as you will be required to get up and down the pitch providing support in attack and defence. Marchisio I want you to play just off Mandzukic when attacking, looking for the knock downs from him and I want you to be the one who looks to unlock the door by using the options in front of you, passing the ball into dangerous areas. Gotze and Turan I want you to vary your games as much as possible and look to pop up on either side at any time and really get at Dortmund today. As I said, vary your games up and look to cross the ball in or cut inside and play Mandzukic in. Mandzukic it’s likely you will be marked by one of the 2 central defenders so I want you to look to just get in there and make space for yourself by either making runs or battling in the air to bring the ball down for Marchisio and others in the attacks. You will be getting service from out wide as well as through the middle so look to just get on the end of everything and win the aerial battles.

GENERAL: Arsenal are missing key man Modric who influences their passing and rhythm. I want us to take advantage of his injury by taking control of the midfield. We'll look to play a higher line than normal with our FB giving us width and Jakub & Oxo to play narrow to overload the opposition defenders. Miky likes to play a possession based game, so we'll let them keep the ball in their half and press them when they come in to ours, which saves our energy.
DEFENSIVE TACTICS: I am expecting Mandzukic to play CF so I need my physical CB Pepe to mark him, do not let him settle on the ball and get in front of him when balls are put in to the box. Subotic to pick up any SS/AM closing them down or positioning yourself. FB to force wingers on the outside so they're forced to cross with their weaker foot. Verratti sit in front of the back 4 screening them by jockeying your man and pressing him. Motta & Thiago play slightly forward, watch Gotze who roams centrally, be physical with him and don't allow him to settle. My forwards have limited defending to do as I want them to save energy to score.
ATTACKING TACTICS: FB to bomb down giving us width and constant balls into the box, chest height or below for Tevez to attack. Verratti look for our FB making powerful runs and play them in. Thiago be aware that Khedira is not a natural DM, look to exploit the space he leaves behind. Motta always look for a free plater, get the ball and move it forwards. Thiago plays furthest forward and slip in balls to forwards. Forwards to play narrow so we can pressure their defence causing a 3v3 or even a 3v2 in our favour. Tevez roam around deep and between CB, expecting Varane to mark you. Oxo & Jakub look to cut in for Thiago late runs or shoot.

CHELSEA VS ATLETICO MADRID
Chelsea Points:
- Your starting XI makes me pants wet, however your bench really is not very good. Look to improve squad depth going forward.
- I'd look to make your overall attacking and defensive tactics a bit clearer, but like the individual ones.
- If I had one improvement for your side, I'd maybe try and get Muller involved more centrally where I think he is most effective and potent.
Atletico Points:
- I like the idea of dominating the middle, but not sure the 4-1-3-2 was the best way to go about it. I think you lack a link man between midfield and attack, especially if the idea is to win the ball with an overload. I'd have played Totti AM instead of Xavi CM.
- Like the defence a lot, with De Rossi in front providing good cover. Would look for a better striker than Giroud, but he is a good option off the bench.
- Think you need to make your overall gameplan clear.
- Do like your use of Griezmann, him buzzing in and around a striker is good.
Final score - Chelsea 2-1 Atletico (Lewandowski 55, Sanchez 57 - Jese 82)
Overall comment - Think this is a good game between two developing sides. Atletico's defence holds out well in the first half, with their midfield matching Chelsea's causing a stalemate. However in the second half their failure to use the ball properly comes back to haunt them in a devastating two minute spell when Chelsea penetrate. Atletico get themselves back into the game with some attacking substitutions, and Chelsea begin to tire however there extra quality sees them through this time.
- Chelsea tactics:

---------Darmian---- ---Ramos---------Terry---------Alaba-----

Subs – Blackman, Cahill, Mikel, Loftus Cheek, Bolasie, Ibe
Solid result last week against one of the stronger teams in the league, looking to kick on this week and get back to winning ways. Game plan is to dominate the game through the middle of the field with our strong spine, then let Cesc, Muller and Sanchez come up with the magic
Defensive tactics
We expect Giroud and Griezmann to be the main attacking threats, Terry to mark Giroud, with Ramos and Darmian covering Griezmann. Schneiderlin and Matic to focus on breaking up the play in front of them, and prevent through balls going into the wide areas where they will look to get the ball into the box.
Courtois to command his area, claim the high ball and set the tone for the team.
Alaba/Darmian – I want you to be aware of the wingers and full backs moving into your area, you’ve got the support of the two DMs in the middle, but be wary of runs from outside to in. Get physical with the wingers, put them off their game. One full back at a time to support the attack and get crosses in, especially Alaba looking to back up Sanchez and target their reserve right back. Especially look to get forward when Cesc has the ball with time in the middle
Ramos/Terry – Use your power and strength to bully Giroud and Griezmann, win everything in the air and make them play to feet, where Schneiderlin and Matic will be waiting
Schneiderlin/Matic- Look to pressure Ramsey and co physically, they’re missing Pjanic so a lot of pressure on old man Xavi if he plays. When we have the ball, one of you can go forward to support the front 4, but the other needs to cover in case we get countered
Cesc – Run the game, you’ll have De Rossi to deal with but use your movement and drop deeper, see if he follows you, if he does then Muller and Sanchez will get moving into that gap, if he doesn’t then look to keep the ball moving simply, the full backs will be making runs for you as will the front 3
Muller/Sanchez – Look to attack with width, but also make runs centrally to keep their defence off guard, use your pace and intelligence to get into good areas, take shots on goal whenever you think they are on, get into the box whenever the full backs have the ball in wide areas
Lewandowski – Lead the line, Toprak will look to get physical so try and pull him out of position so the wide players can exploit the gaps. Run into the channels, hold up the ball and get on the end of balls into the middle.
Subs
Bolasie on for Schneiderlin if losing at 65 mins, 4-2-3-1 with Matic and Cesc deepest
If winning, hold with what we’ve got but Mikel and Cahill options for tired players
- Atletico Tactics:
nadeem2099Up against bambino and his Chelski Chavs this week. Let's out chav them and wreck em boys!
---------------------------------------------------Oblak---------------------------------------------------
Juanfran ----------------- Toprak ----------------- Miranda --------------------- Alba
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------ De Rossi -----------------------------------------
------------------------- Ramsey ----------- Xavi --------------------- Saul ------------------------------

---------------------------- Griezmann --------------- Giroud --------------------------------------------
Subs - Mathieu, Rafinha, Arteta, Mario Suarez, Jese, Torres, Totti
Captain DE ROSSI
CK'S XAVI LEFT. RAMSEY RIGHT
FK GMAN
PK GIROUD
DEFENCE
Oblak will look to command his area. His height will help him deal with aerial balls and will use his good reflexes to save any shots. Toprak and Miranda will be up against Lewandowski so stick close to him and don't give him any space. Don't let him manhandle you and stick close to him. De Rossi will be marking their AM or being aware of their box to box midfielders attacking runs. Full backs will look to start of with a neutral mindset and make syre they are not caught out of podition early on. As the match goes on, Alba and Juanfran are to help out in attack aswell by making overlapping runs and supporting my midfielders. Get in crosses if you can aswell.
MIDFIELD
De Rossi will be the defense mid, he will look to put in tackles and hound the Chelsea AM if they play one. If they don't stay alert of their b2b players attacking runs. Don't stray out of position and use your brilliant interception ability to steal the ball and launch a counter attack. Ramsey and Saul will be the box to box midfielders. They will look to pass the ball forward and make attacking forays through the middle. Keep things simple, shoot if you see a chance. Xavi will be the deep lying playmaker. He will look to split the opposition defence from deep with his excellent vision. Dont stray too far forward but keep things simple withvyour superor ball control and 1 touch play. They will also help out in defence by tracking back when we don't have possession of the ball. With their main source of energy Koke injured we should have the advantage in the centre of midfield.
STRIKE
Up front will be the frenchie Giroud. He will be the target man and will look to use his height and physical presence to his advantage. Link the play, pass the ball to the wingers and use your excellent positional play in the 6 yard box to score. He will be partnered by the pacy Griezmann. He will look to use his pace against old man Terry and tear him a new one. Quick passes and try and beat the offside trap against Terry. Shoot if you see an opening.
Subs if LOSING BY 65MINS
Put on Torres for De Rossi and Ramsey moves to AM. Change formation to 4 1 2 1 2 with Torres partnering Giroud up front. Put on Jese for Xavi with Griezmann and Jese to play on the wings. Totti for Ramsey. ALL OUT ATTACK!
Subs if WINNING BY 65MINS
Take of Xavi and put on Mario Suarez play deep defensive hoofball. EVERYONE WILL DEFEND.
Subs if DRAWING BY 65MINS
Torres for Giroud, Suarez for Xavi and Jese for Griezmann. Keep same formation.
Chelsea Points:
- Your starting XI makes me pants wet, however your bench really is not very good. Look to improve squad depth going forward.
- I'd look to make your overall attacking and defensive tactics a bit clearer, but like the individual ones.

Re: Results - Week 6
BARCELONA VS BAYERN MUNICH
Barca Points:
- I like the line up, although I'd start Ter Stegen ahead of Bravo myself.
- Luiz at DM is fine, but telling him to "don't use your positional sense" goes against everything a good DM is. They need to be in the right place at the right time to break up play.
- Certainly need to place more emphasis on Messi in your attacking tactics - he's the best player in the world!
- Love the energy of a Pogba/Rakitic midfield.
Bayern Points:
- Change of formation has thrown off your opponent which is handy
- I like Schweinsteiger/Alonso - but you need more legs in your CM than that, especially when only two of them in there.
- Think you've missed a trick not playing Ozil - although understand he was sacrificed in the formation
- Need to improve at LB/LWB next.
Final Score - Barcelona 1-2 Bayern Munich (Messi 51 - Costa 12, Reus 78)
Overall Comment: This is such an intriguing matchup to call, with Bayern for me just taking a narrow victory. Bayern start the game out strong, as Barca pre empt the wrong line up/formation meaning Robben/Reus have early success with David Luiz being dragged all over the shop. However as the first half progresses, Bayern begin to sit too deep and after the break Messi rips Felipe Luis and Koscielny a new one by waltzing through to score. The game continues in a Barca on top pattern until they make a weird substitution. Cuadrado is introduced at wing back, rather bizarrely with little instructions to Danilo/the defence as to what the new formation is. Barca lose rhythm, and Bayern are able to take advantage of Cuadrado as Reus goes past him for the late winner.
- Barca Tactics:
- Trebs-------------------------Bravo--------------------------
Danilo-----------Pique------------Godin-------------Gaya
--------------------------Luiz---------------------------
------------Pogba-------------------Rakitic--------------
---------Messi-------------------------James-------------
-------------------------Suarez--------------------------
BENCH
ter Steigen
Bartra
Siquiera
Sergi Roberto
Rafinha
Cuadrado
Sandro Ramirez
No mistakes today. We cannot mess up, we must win against Bayern, who are top of the table six in front of us. If we can beat them, then we go three behind and it's all to play for. They will presumably line up in their 4-2-3-1, encouraging wingers to come inside. There's three things we need to look at to beat them. First, we can outrun them in the middle. Alonso and Schweinsteiger do not have the same energy our midfielders have and we will play relentless attacking football. Luiz, Pogba, Rakitic will all cover more ground each than their two, and Ozil is not one to get back and defend. Second, we don't expect their wingers to track back so we want our full backs to come forward. It is obvious they will continually cut inside so be prepared for that. Third, the lack of pace in their defense, I want my front three constantly swapping positions and running off each other to make them unable to man-mark, one look to get in behind to create space for the others.
DEFENSE
I want Godin to be the main marker of Costa with Pique looking to sweep in behind, match him physically and get goalside of him, not allowing him any space or time on the ball. Gaya and Danilo will obviously have two tricky customers in Robben and Reus, but I have a plan, which is to have Luiz coming across as effectively an extra defender who will make it impossible for either of the wingers to get away from two, let alone one. You don't have to use your positional sense, just good defensive skills one on one which you can do. Pogba and Rakitic will handling the middle of the pitch, look to press together as a team to stop their players settling. I want one of the front three to sit on Alonso, don't let him dictate the play, but the other two should be high ready for the counter attack. If they are crazy enough to send their full backs forward we'll take a 2v2 against their centre backs.
ATTACK
Pogba, Luiz and Rakitic should be full of energy today, look to take it in turns getting forward and running at their midfield and beyond, look to pass it quickly and try to get it to the front three where possible. I want the front three continually interchanging, if they try to defend deep then be constantly probing, looking for that moment where they slip up. We basically will have a free pass to get 2/3s of the way up the pitch if they do this. Always be looking for spaces, be it between the full back and centre back, centre mid and centre back, and force the opening. Always look to quickly counter with a ball up to the forwards. Danilo in particular I want to attack, which will peg their winger back, be a wide option to stretch out the play. But the same goes for Gaya. If both full backs are on the offensive, I want a CM in a deeper role incase they counter (generally Luiz).
SET PIECES
Left Corner - Rakitic
Right Corner - James
Free Kicks - Messi
Penalties - Messi
SUBSTITUTIONS
If winning - Siquiera for Gaya and Sergi Roberto for a CM. Fresh legs to close out the game.
If drawing - Cuadrado and Sandro Ramirez for Luiz and Gaya. James becomes the most attacking of the CM trio and Cuadrado to wing back.
If losing - Cuadrado, Sandro Ramirez for Gaya, Pique. Basically an all out attack 4-2-4 with Cuadrado and Danilo getting right forward. We must get something out the game.
Come on. This is it.
- Bayern Tactics:
- Fernando------------------Neuer
-----Benatia -- Hummels -- Koscielny
Lahm - Schweinstiger -- Alonso --- Felipe Luis
--------Robben -----------Reus
-------------------Costa
Bench: Casillas/Bernat/Bellerin/Ozil/Fekir/Kane/Oliver Torres
Team Talk: We're up against Trebs and his Barcelona side they have star quality of Messi & Suarez so shall revert to 3-4-2-1 to null the threat of his front 3 and look to counter with pace and expose their back 4. Felipe Luis will play to be more defensively helpful then the attacking Bernat.
Defensive Tactics.
- When defending revert to a back 5 and look to squeeze tight to force them down the wings by closing off the central area make them cross the ball.
- Hummels to get tight to Suarez get touch tight and stop him from twisting and turning about in the box.
- Benatia/Koscielny to watch for Rakitic/Pogba making a break through the centre.
- Lahm to show Rodriguez down the line to make him cross the ball into the box, If cuts inside Schweinstiger to get out to him and make a tackle.
- Felipe to show Messi inside towards Alonso. Look to get a tackle in and if goes to shoot then throw your body in the way. Try show down the line to cross into our land of giants
- Schweinstiger & Alonso to sit infront of the back 3 and just close out the space that Rodriguez/Messi/Pastore will come into, If Pogba/Rakitic get forwards then put tackles in
- Robben & Reus look to stay up the pitch to stop Danilo/Gaya getting forwards. If they go then utilize the space they leave on the counter.
- Costa to charge about the midfield and hassel the midfielders when they get on the ball
Attacking
- Lahm & Felipe Luis to follow the wingers up the pitch and give them the option to overlap. When do whip the ball in for Costa.
- Schweinstiger to go box to box and look to be a physical presence up the pitch, Look to make late runs in the box for crosses coming back out.
- Alonso to sit deep and dictate the play, Look to release Reus/Robben in behind the Barca defense. If they can't knock into Diego to get it held up.
- Robben to run at Gaya/Siqueera and look to twist them inside and out to make use of the space with Lahm overlapping. If cut inside whip a shot at goal or run at David Luiz if the FB's go up the pitch and leave him exposed
- Reus to dribble at Danilo and look to take him on inside and out, Use your pace to break beyond him and supply crosses in for Costa. If Danilo goes forward on the break get at Pique jockey him and knock it beyond with your electric pace
- Costa look to physical dominate David Luiz, Irritate the mop haired Meat trombone soloist with your presence and look to back in, Elbow make digs at him to unsettle him. Don't be afraid to roll him and get yourself in behind by running the channels in behind Pique.
Subs - If losing Benatia for Ozil - 4-3-3
If Winning with 10 to go Bellerin & Bernat for Robben & Reus and close up shop and break with their pace on the counter.
Barca Points:
- I like the line up, although I'd start Ter Stegen ahead of Bravo myself.
- Luiz at DM is fine, but telling him to "don't use your positional sense" goes against everything a good DM is. They need to be in the right place at the right time to break up play.
