He got the bullet from B&Q about 2 or 3 years ago - and he was only CEO for about 18 months anyway.
With his HR background he looks to be a good fit for WRU though.

They're both Retailers so yeah. Maybe a Rugby CEO shouldn't be a bottom-dollar number crunching retailer?

Personal experience of B+Q is that despite what they say there are usually cheaper alternatives. They do tend to have a good range of stuff though

I think Wales would have preferred somebody with more of a rugby background. That way they might show empathy to the development of the game rather than pay off loans.

Re: NEW CEO for WRU Appointed
It's pretty laughable that the wail were trying to pass him off as a man with a rugby background. Doesn't seem to really be the case, bar he played for Welsh schools and did a few bits here and there.
I still think he will be a more positive bloke than Rog though.

They should have gone for a professional sports administrator - possibly from another sport so as to avoid the tribalism within Welsh rugby. Philip Browne's (IRFU CEO for last 15 years or so) background is in rowing and he is a very able CEO. Ian Richie of RFU who seems to be highly rated didn't have a rugby background.

"Ian Ritchie is a man of great experience in sporting administration. A barrister by training, he's been a director of Wembley Stadium and the Football League. And he's been at the All England Club masterminding the annual tennis championships at Wimbledon for the past six years."

Re: NEW CEO for WRU Appointed
Looks like the incoming CEO has been down in West Wales this week meeting the head of PRW.
Hopefully the beginning of a nice new relationship.

I wish him well.
We don't need a "rugby man" who will kowtow to the amateur blazer brigade. We need a reformer who can create a vision and execute it for the professional era. No small task....
"you can do it when you B&Q it"
