Joshua To Fight Whyte
Heavyweight rivals Joshua and Whyte set to clash for the British championship
AN agreement has been reached for Anthony Joshua to fight Dillian Whyte for the British heavyweight title. Eddie Hearn will promote the fight with the date and venue yet to be determined.
At the end of last month Hearn told Boxing News that he expected the fight to take place in November, with Joshua due to box on September 12 at the O2 while Whyte recovers from a hand injury.
Dillian holds a victory over Joshua from early on in their amateur careers. Whyte boxed most recently in February in Belfast on the Carl Frampton-Chris Avalos undercard. London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Joshua made a statement in his last outing, when he destroyed fringe contender Kevin Johnson on May 30 also at the O2.

I wonder if this will be on box office. Hearn could have a go with this and build it as a grudge match. Seeing as it's at the o2 there's a chance.

Good little match up with a bit of needle and for the British title. Although if it's PPV won't be buyin it unless there's a lot more to the card

They could stick it on the same night as Fury's fight. Heard on talksport today that Sky will likely be showing the Wlad v Fury fight on box office.

No i wont be payingfor the fury v wlad box office unless there is a good undercard like the May 30th show, but as it isn't a matchroom show can't see that happening

Wouldn't make financial sense to have Joshua's first "test" against a "name" unbeaten Brit in Germany ......
Besides K2 promotions will be promoting I imagine with Hennessy pretending to be involved.....Hennessy is close to Warren....

Re: Joshua To Fight Whyte
Difficulty is K2 undercards are notoriously awful, so if this does end up on Box Office you are basically selling it exclusively on the strength of the main event. Would not surprise me to see Sky ask Eddie to put together a UK card to be bundled together, struggle to imagine they can justify the fee otherwise. Also as Eddie has struggled to put together cards on box office this year without attracting dogs abuse would imagine he would welcome them giving him a way of sharing the burden on one of the dates.

They'd have to do one hell of a job building White to make this a fight people would pay to see. I certainly wouldn't as it'll likely be over quickly. I think the same about Wlad Fury tbh. Be surprised to see 8 rounds in total between the two fights.

Easy sell... The man who beat Joshua, put him on the floor etc. whether it's an easy sell for Ppv? Well that's different.
I haven't been that impressed with what i've seen of whyte, but... He will come to fight. We will see josh the bosh having to pay some regard to what's coming back at him. For that alone it's interesting.

Not sure whyte actually believes he can win but considering his career thus far has been devoid of any limelight, this fight will bring his name into the mix providing he doesn't lose to badly.
Love the way sky are trying to angle this rivalry I.e they have been trading "insults" to try and hype it. Are we seeing the early seeds of a potential PPV event

Yes he beat josh in the amateurs but that was a long time ago and the pro game is different

Re: Joshua To Fight Whyte
I can't see this being anything more than another relatively early KO win for Joshua. Whyte did not look particularly brilliant last time out and the amateur win doesn't mean a lot. Johansen beat Haye in the amateur days. Didn't do him much good when they fought professionally. Same goes for Biggs against Tyson. Different ball game.

To be fair Biggs spent his formative months as a pro institutionalised for drug and alcohol problems....Struggled with these issues and clinical depression for much of his career. The Biggs I remember would never have been battered by Bey like that...Duva himself said he was fast tracked to Tyson before anything else went wrong...
Biggs isn't a great example for your argument.

He's still on the bill at Manchester Arena next week. Pretty shoddy.

Fair enough Truss - was pulling names out of a hat so to speak. What about one of your favourite 90s heavies, Bowe against Gonzalez then?

Thought the Whyte fight was for later in the year. AJ fights every couple of months, so why wouldn't he have something else lined up?
