E-Gaming Tournaments
Does anyone watch these or play in them?
I have been watching some on Youtube lately to pass the time in work, mostly the Evo: World Tournament which is a yearly beat'em up tournament (it just happens to be starting today so should be shown on Twitch I'd say).
World Tournaments are getting bigger and bigger every year and the prize money especially for games such as Counter Strike and CoD are madness, just wondering if any of you watch or play in them

17m wtf Dota is like LoL isn't it?
I know the Super Smash Bros Melee Losers final prize money was 11k at Evo, that's still a big hunk of change for playing a Wii U game

If you ever played Magic then very similar though I actually find it better, it's simplified Magic, everything happens on your own turn and therefore plays a lot quicker, rarely do you have 20 minute games and most are 5 minute tops (you can make control decks though to drag it out). It's also Free to Play although I admit I've spent a fair bit on it to get packs and certain cards.

Re: E-Gaming Tournaments
Each of the 9 classes has their own pool of cards they can use and then there's the generic pool of cards to add to it.
Hunter
Considered the most aggro of the classes (and the class that most others hate), plays fast critters, weapons and direct damage, ignores the opponents cards and attacks to face.
Mage
Quite a versatile class, can play fast decks with lots of direct damage, mech based creature decks or control decks. One of my fave classes.
Paladin
Weenie based deck usually although with the most recent expansion it's branched into Dragons. Weapons and divine shields are popular for Paladin (divine shield makes the creature invunerable to the first set of damage it receives)
Warlock
Can play very differently dependent on the type of Warlock deck you face, Zoolock is rush with economical creatures, Demonlock is erm demons, and there's Handlock which does damage to itself then plays 8/8 giants and smashes you. I hate playing against Handlock.
Priest
My fave class, the proper control deck. Lets you steal their critters, spells etc and use them against themselves, lots of healing stuff and manipulation.
Shaman
Probably the weakest of the classes at present, tends to play a number of totems and go for a one turn kill.
Druid
Ramp Druid is a popular deck that uses a number of of strong creatures with high toughness that are just hard to get past until it gets control.
Warrior
Warrior used to be all about armour and control decks, a recent set though introduced a card called Grim Patron that creates a replica of itself whenever it takes damage, most warrior decks now are based around this card.
Rogue
The most combo based deck, usually based around one turn wins or high damage on one turns with card drawing through their deck to find the specific cards.
Hunter

Re: E-Gaming Tournaments
Hunter is fairly cheap to make a decent deck from, not many legendary cards needed for it.

Yes. It's completely free to play too. There's a documentary called 'Free to Play' which shows how the eSport is followed. It sells out stadiums.Dicey Reilly wrote:17m wtf Dota is like LoL isn't it?
