Teper takes the European title with a lethal left hook. Teper Was in control throughout, Price looked a little to easy to hit and nervous had his head rocked back with the jab and was looking to spoil a lot.

Is that career over? Will Hearn still try and make the Joshua fight? Wouldn't mind Joshua-Teper

David "the chin" Price was terrible, can't see a way back for him now, Teper is no great shakes but a good win and name for him on his record, maybe Joshua next in a couple of fights

Couple of gamblers were talking to me about this one earlier. Great odds on Teper. Feel bad for Price. Nowhere to go now. Not really worth Joshua fighting him, would get no credit at all now

Dear oh dear.

That's surely Price finished now, any fighter will just come at him swinging.

Shame as 2 years ago he looked like a monster.

Thompson 1 completely broke him.

Not surprised. Had never seen Teper fight before this one was announced and on paper thought it was 50:50 based on records, but after watching a bit of Teper last night and revisiting Price against Costa I felt pretty confident that Teper would take this one. Price just can't stop guys from getting inside. Even against Costa he couldn't - but he got away with it against a guy with little ambition or power. Teper is nothing special but he works well up close and puts hard shots together quite well.

Disaster for Price and I feel for him. Unless he takes the play away by blasting them out early before they have a chance to throw a big shot in anger, I just can't see how he's ever going to beat a puncher.

Post by bellchees Fri 17 Jul 2015, 9:29 pm

Just watched the whole fight on Youtube, Price was woeful. Just pawing with his jab trying to use it as a range finder for his right hand instead of throwing it with any menace. The out of shape Juan Sebastian Veron got in range to land his own shots without doing anything apart from plodding forward and throwing his own jab, shouldn't be able to do that against someone a foot taller than you. I still think Price is more of a live opponent than your Kevin Johnson types as he still carries genuine knockout power but live opponent is probably the best he'll be now.

After watching that tonight, is there anyone that thinks he should be put in with Joshua?

For me that fight is utterly pointless now.

I almost lumped on a 1st rd Price KO after seeing Teper - he looks like the Turkish Homer Simpson (and fights like him pretty much).

To be fair, Teper seems a decent puncher and getting KO'd and few HWs really have "granite chins". Power at that weight means they are just rare.

But, Price didn't look good and was spark out from what looked a bit of a glancing blow than a full blooded shot.

Sadly, Price just doesn't seem to have it. Even if he gets in a defensive coach to help him, which would help, his confidence must be shot by now.

Sad, he seems a nice bloke but it is the toughest sport of all.

They had him fighting small and more compact but he had no defence whatsoever and his punch resistance is poor. Teper looked like he only had three rounds in him as well.

Truss, you are being a bit harsh but you are fundamentally right.

At HW there are few who can absorb a punch and I've seen lots of "weak" punches floor otherwise notable tough fighters. Liston etc. So, I am willing to take his KO's as just "one of those things".

But, his second fight against Thompson was just poor. He was on top and, even if he did, gas he seems to capitulate. Which is not a good sign in any top level sport star, let alone a boxer where grit and determination are taken as red.

On top of that, he hasn't appeared to have progressed any. He needs so much work it is hard to see how he comes back. He needs a psychiatrist, a better coach and a lot of confidence building if he is to do anything.

He's modest and not delusional, like Audley, but I really can't see him improving given his age. He is a domestic level champ and potential gate keeper, at best.

There's absolutely nothing anyone can say to defend price in this fight, he's been woeful fight after fight after the Thompson tap on the neck, it's really up to him now if he wants to become a gatekeeper that can produce the odd surprise win or just call it a day

He had his right hand low the entire (2 rounds) of the fight, I couldn't believe how low it was, he was inviting that shot.

He also lost his defence when they got in close and Teper just took advantage of that. Hopefully Joshua gets in the ring with Teper now, they can bill it as British revenge.

Just watched the fight and that was easily the worst price performance I have ever seen. He got out punched repeatedly in the face, pushed around, bullied....did anyone notice how terrible his Jab was?! He hardly threw it and when he did he pawed it. Wobbled once in the first round then banged out in the second....along with his career. No way back for him at all. Needs to retire. Shame.

If you don't snap out the jab then you are just giving your opponent an open invitation to punch you in the face.

He looked done to me, I haven't seen him in his last few fights, but that is the worst I have seen him in the ring

Exactly mate. I know Wlad gets a lot of stick for the way he paws his jab, but every couple of paws he fires a piston jab to keep them at bay.

David just looked done tonight. Lacked confidence and just seemed completely shot.

Shame really because he had all the attributes but unfortunately he just didn't have it.

I'm still annoyed at this fight as I'm typing because it was an utter embarrassment

I couldn't agree more, a completely useless bag of turd, but that said he did knock Price out.

End of the road for Price unless he gets some graft in and works on the potholes on the M62. His only shot at a decent purse went when he/Fury avoided each other. It looks like we have another Audley on our hands and no doubt it will be back to the drawing board just like Audley. He should have called it a day after Thompson, the guy doesn't have it and not many men do, so no great shame in that. He should call it a day.

The way he went back to his corner after the first showed a man devoid of any confidence. He knew the writing was on the wall. He has the ability to spark a guy like that but doesn't have the mental capacity for it. The jab in the first was awful. There's no way Teper should be getting to him with his dimensions and background. Disgraceful performance and I hope he retires or, with his confidence shot, he could get badly hurt against a Joshua or someone of that ilk.

He needs a psychiatrist, a decent defensive coach and then he may be OK.

But, he's not that young and now is badly damaged.

I won't call for his retirement, he's a professional boxer, but his world title aspirations are pretty much over. He's looking at domestic level for the rest of his career. If that's what he wants.

His promoter says if he doesn't retire he's already working on a series of opponents to showcase Price's offensive power whilst limiting his vulnerability.
Translation?
'It's tomato can city for Price from now on'
He reminds ms of this UFC fighter Todd Duffee. YouTube his last fight with Frank Mir....he and Price could be twins.

Price should base his style on Klit with a piston jab. Why paw with the jab against a short fat opponent, he just invites pressure.

Wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but it's clear he isn't up to it at any decent level. Time to go. It shows that you can't rely on a jackhammer punch if the rest of your skills and chin are no good.

Hate to admit it but Az was right all along LOL

Price will be working doors in scouseville soon enough. Terrible performance and his pathetic jab for such a big man was a disgrace.

His promotor said after the fight that ''Price will have to go home and have a long good chat about his future with his family'' which is promoter talk for ''I am washing my hands of you''.

Can't defend Price anymore he is such a nice guy but in the wrong game. His chin makes Amir Khan look like Oliver Mccall FFS.
