Arsenal v PSG
Arsenal tactics
PSG tactics
It seems like both managers could have utilised their players better today, looking at the players selected I would have expected PSG to play more of a 4-3-3/4-5-1 with Lavezzi and Jovetic wide rather than the 4-4-2 diamond that was selected, equally I think Arsenal playing Marchisio and Welbeck wide suggests a narrower system would have suited them more than the 4-2-3-1, maybe the diamond system. Going on what both sides did play, I feel PSG would have gotten some joy out of the Arsenal defence, equally Arsenal would have gotten something out of the PSG defence. Can’t pick a winner so a draw the fairest outcome here.
Arsenal 2-2 PSG
Bacca, Gotze; Ibrahimovic, Gundogan

Atletico Madrid v Porto
Atletico tactics
Porto tactics
Looking at these teams I feel both teams are strong in defence, Atletico have the stronger attack but a pairing of Alderweireld and Ramsey against the Porto trio is just too one sided (well aware it was down to injuries). I think Brahimi works as a false 9, although I feel Olly stumbled across that one rather than it being a tactical masterstroke. I feel Atletico could have reshuffled and swapped Pjanic and Ramsey over, maybe played De Bruyne central where he could do more damage. A score draw for me, as I think both sides were missing key players, both did all they could but ultimately couldn’t get the win.
Atletico Madrid 1-1 Porto
Lewandowski; Brahimi

Chelsea v Dortmund
Chelsea tactics
Dortmund tactics
Man for man this would be a close game to call, but I think with Dortmund’s banks of three I feel the width of Muller and Sanchez really cause them problems, with Lacazette those three can get at Zouma, Pepe and Subotic. Dortmund would also cause Chelsea’s defence problems with Aguero but not sure Jakub and Remy are enough support. I like the boldness of Dortmund’s system but even with quality midfielders in there I think it’s too narrow, and the only width isn’t good enough to trouble Chelsea. I want to reward Dortmund’s approach but feel they just come up short against a very good Chelsea side.

---------------Bacca-----------------
This week we are up against PSG who are missing 2 key players in Pedro and Cavani. We want to play a controlled game today with good build up play and good possession of the ball.
Defensive Tactics:
-Defensively i want us to squeeze the space in the final third and control that area, keep it solid throughout.
-Make them work to get the ball past us and make it difficult for their attacking players to create
-Varane i want you to watch Ibrahimovic and stand up to him and make yourself known from the very start, stand your ground.
-Ogbonna you will cover for Varane and watch the runs of Jovetic who is likely to be playing just off Ibrahimovic or in one of the pockets out wide.
-Monreal you will be defending more than Alves by protecting the left hand side, cutting out the wide play and watching the runs inside.
-Alves you will need to put in a good shift today with plenty of energy throughout, always looking to get up and down the pitch with the flow of the game.
-Welbeck and Marchisio you will need to work on your sides of the pitch to cut out any attacks coming down those sides.
-Khedira i want you to squeeze the space the most in our final third, constantly be making yourself known and getting in and around the attackers, working them off the ball.
Attacking Tactics:
-Everything will pretty much start with Modric as our deep lying playmaker. You are the key player and i want you to always be looking to control the pace of the game, using the ball smartly as you do so well and working the ball into great positions and always looking to unlock the PSG defence.
-Alves you will be overlapping on that right hand side providing more width as Marchisio will be tucking in more centrally looking to make things happen there, look to provide options out wide for him and others around you.
-Monreal i want you to get forward intermittently always being on your toes so that we don't get caught out on the counter.
-Welbeck i want you to be constantly providing energy out wide on the left and looking to run at the PSG defence pushing them back, working the ball forward.
-Gotze you are the man in behind Bacca today, always be looking to get the ball into him as he is going to be making plenty of movement. I want you to command the final third and make it your own, have a go yourself as well as looking to create chances for the others around you.
-Bacca i want you to make plenty of movement in the final third, always looking to power around making yourself known and peeling off the last defender. Work the ball into space and have a go as well as always looking to latch onto passes coming through from behind you.
Subs: Szcezny, Ansaldi, Banega, Herrera, Mandzukic.
-85th Minute: Herrera on for Marchisio and to drop back a bit more
-90th Minute: Mandzukic on for Bacca and to get in and around the defenders

DEFENSIVE TACTICS
Team Shape - Tight Marking, Hold Deeper Line, Stay On Feet in Challenges. Both Full-Backs will look to support on the overlap when on the attack.
Silva: Physically man-mark Mandzukic closely. Make life uncomfortable for at every opportunity, stay close and look to rattle him anyway you can, look to pull his shirt and make your stamp on the game as early as possible.
Papastathopoulos: Limited Defender Role. Welbeck will most likely line up as the secondary-striker. Use your experience to hold Welbeck up and look to move him away from goal when in posession.
Coleman / Coentrao: Match the pace of your markers. Look to diagonally close the gap by blocking the crosses forcing them to turn backwards in order to keep possession. Look to support going forward by adding an extra option on the overlap.
MIDFIELD TACTICS:
Team Shape - High Pressure, Close Down Quickly, Tackle Hard. I want to see you command the centre of the pitch and compete to win every loose and second ball. Be strong in challenges and really intimate the Arsenal midfield to move the ball and force the mistake.
Sergio Busquets: Ball Winning Midfield Role. Tightly man-mark the most advanced midfielder. Look to pick up his runs and stop him from playing by shielding the back-line from being opened up.
Matuidi: Box to Box Midfield Role. Add extra bite in midfield. You have the engine to get up and down the pitch. Defensively look to float over and support either FB when struggling to regain possession.
Gundogan: Deep Lying Playmaker: Look to get comfortable on the ball and pick up the runners in front of you. Don't be afraid to play the ball over the top to the forwards as Ibrahimovic has the height and Jovetic has the pace.
Lavezzi: Advanced Playmaker: Look to use your pace to open up the Arsenal back-line. Force your marker to move around and look to link up with one touches to open the back-line up.
ATTACKING TACTICS:
Team Shape - High Pressure, Zonal Marking. Look to get between the defence & midfield and limit the options to move the ball.
Ibrahimovic: Target Man: Don't be afraid to use your size and strength to link-up the build up play. Look to create half a yard and create your magic. Alternatively, Look to peel off your marker at the back-post and pose an aerial threat.
Jovetic: Poacher Role. Look to play off the last shoulder of the last defender and break the offside trap.
SUBS:
On 70 Mins Yohan Cabaye will replace Ilkay Gundogan. Like for like role with Cabaye looking to get on the ball deeper by looking to spray the ball across the park.
On 75 Mins Lucas Digne will replace Fabio Coentrao. Fresh pair of legs to deal with Arsenal's changes.
- Tactics v Porto

Rafinha---Miranda---Mathieu---Alba
Alderweireld---Ramsey
De Bruyne----Pjanic----Menez
Lewandowski
Subs: Toprak, Maxwell, Xavi, Arteta, Essien, Walcott, Giroud.
General:
Back to the old favourite 4-2-3-1 this week.
Solid back four, to remain compact and limit the space for the Porto attacking players to operate in. Porto are missing key forwards and we anticipate them lacking a focal point and someone to hold the ball up. If we stay tight, and reduce their space, we can pressurise them quickly and force mistakes
Going forward, we have a fluid trio at AM, who can interchange and look to surprise the opposition. Pjanic will be the main play maker, whilst Menez and De Bruyne will look to get on the ball and run at the opposition using their pace and trickery. When we come under pressure, we will also look to counter attack, through the front 4 and the pace of our full backs
Defensive:
Mathieu will pick up the main striker, sticking tight and not giving him any space. Miranda will pick up the second striker/AM if there is one, otherwise he will play in a spare role, sweeping up the loose balls and picking up the runners from deep.
The full backs will pick up the wingers. Keep them wide and facing away from goal. Get tight and don’t give them time as you have the pace to recover if they get in behind you. In general, only one of you to go forward at any time, but on the occasions we counter attack, you can both bomb forward and join the attack.
Alderweireld will sit in front of the back four to provide protection. When we want to counter attack, he will slot alongside the CBs allowing the FBs to add their pace to the attack.
Attacking:
Lewandowski will play as the focal point of the attack. He will hold the ball up and bring the support players into play. When Pjanic is on the ball, Lew will look to get in behind, when it is crossed from wide, he will be the one to get on the end of it. Pjanic will play in a number 10 style role as the conductor. De Bruyne and Menez will look to use their trickery and pace to attack the defence. They will look to get into the channels between FB and CB, as well as getting in behind the defence to utilise their pace. When the ball is on the opposite flank, get in the box. When the full backs come forward, tuck in to create space for the overlap.

LB - Alex Sandro
RCM - Jordy Clasie
CDM - Fernandinho
LCM - Yohan Cabaye

LW - Franck Ribery
False Nine (deal wit it) - Yacine Brahimi
Formation - 4-3-3 (false nine)
Overall team talk: Righto fellas Nando has been gay and taken both our strikers out with injuries so we're gonna go ultra hipster and play a false nine formation cos we're boss commanders. The idea is simple, we have some wonderful playmakers in Clasie and Cabaye who will control the game from midfield, Brahimi/Quaresma/Ribery cause mayhem with your movement, Sandro/Aurier bomb on like Frak and Fernandinho/Martins Indi/Maicon to defend cool, calm and collectedly. Lets press high up the pitch cos YOLO, and just try to score as many goals as possible.
Defending: Boys I want you to defend well today, none of this hairy fairy crap, stay high (up the pitch) and break some of these nancy boys in half. Aurier/Sandro you push onto the wingers stay tight, Fernandinho to play CDM destroying anybody who dare pass and Martins Indi/Maicon just like don't let the striker score ta. Reina be like Pepe Reina circa 2007 for one game.
Attacking: SCORE GOALS. Sounds simple dunnit. Well that's cos it is, we have some boss playmakers in Cabaye and Clasie who can stroke the ball round with their c0ck and will create chances if you three Ribery/Brahimi/Quaresma make intelligent runs and movement. NO MAIN STRIKER WE PLAY FALSE NINE cos we're ultra hipster. Sandro/Aurier to bomb on down the wings, so you can come inside if you so wish.

----------------------Fabregas -----------------
Muller ----------------------------------Sanchez

Subs - Darmian, Schneiderlin, Imbula, Bolasie, Luiz Adriano
Injuries - De Silva, Alaba, Ramos, Oxlade Chamberlain
Up against a Dortmund side in decent form, but want to finish the season on a high and push for that 3rd spot. Looking to take advantage of their injuries at full back and also missing one of their top attackers in Griezmann, so look to put the pressure on
Courtois - Command your area, they won't likely play many high crosses in as Aguero not the tallest, but be on your toes to come out and clean up balls in behind the centre backs
Otamendi/Terry - Your job is to stop Aguero, let the full backs and Matic/Verratti worry about other runners and the wide players. Terry to look to pressure him physically, Otamendi you have the pace to stick with him if he spins off, give him a kick if you have to, don't let him get in behind
Carvajal/Azpi - Picked because you're the strongest defensively, you'll be on the lookout for runs from midfield and the wide areas, Griezmann is missing but they'll have Remy and Blaszjaseskovsky as possible threats. Cover runs from Thiago if he gets past Matic. One of you to get forward at a time and overlap your wide men
Matic - Pick up Thiago, he's going to try and get on the ball at all times. Don't follow him if he goes deeper, just let Verratti pick him up and try and push out a bit yourself. On the ball, get it moving forward quickly, there's two quality passers in front of you and some serious pace so if you see a long ball then don't be afraid to hit it
Verratti/Cesc - run the game, use your passing to get us going forward quickly, but if we have to keep it for a while and pull them out of position, we can do that too. Look for runs into the channels from the wide men, they are missing their first choice full backs and our guys will get goals. Get forward yourselves, don't be afraid to take a shot
Muller/Sanchez - Look to target the suspect positioning of the back up full backs, take them on with every opportunity and look for the overlapping runs. Look for cut backs to the midfielders, and Lacazette will always be on the move
Lacazette - Use your pace and power , you'll likely be up against Subotic and Pepe, just keep running in behind and the quality of our midfield will find you. Take shots whenever they're on, we need goals from you
Subs
If winning at 65 mins, Schneiderlin on for Verratti, shut it down with Matic, Darmian is an option if full backs tiring
If drawing - stick with what we have but look at Imbula as an option for the tiring midfield for extra energy
If losing - Verratti off, Adriano on up front and go 4-4-2 with Cesc pinging the ball around and lets get goals

General
Up against Chelsea, let's finish the season on a high by taking control of the game using the space to attack and defend. I've gone with two banks of 3 who need to be solid when defending keeping it compact and forcing them to come central by closing the space put wide. The front 4 need to break quickly and directly getting at the space they leave while Rakitic makes deep runs into the box.
Defensive tactics
I've gone with powerful defender's with pace to combat them physically, controlled aggression to force them back. Pepe pick up main CF while the other two pick up any other attacker's. Midfield be compact close down the wide area's so they'll have to come central, suffocate the play. Bender sit in front of CB's nullifying the space. Our forwards need to press them high to force them to play long balls.
Attacking tactics
Bender keep it simple with your passes, short passes, Motta forward balls to get us moving, to the feet of your teammate's. Rakitic spray the ball wide, play a high energy game and make late runs. Thiago look to play a forward incisive pass to get us on the break quickly. Front 3 make runs all day play narrow, Aguero find the space to exploit them. Remy support Aguero be his foil, make runs go wide.
Sub 79 min if winning
Remy off Grosskreutz on (Fresh legs)
Sub 77 min if losing
Jakub off Immobile on (Extra strike)

TACTICS
We're going for an attacking 4-3-3 in this penultimate game of the season. Look to quickly get the ball up to the front three who should look to have a go at their defense, we feel we can exploit them with quick moving play. I want us to be quick to pressurise when we lose the ball, getting it straight back and going back on the attack.
Looking to have the four at the back protected by three in front. When we attack we will rotate the three midfielders, so two push on with one holding but this will change with each attack. But when we lose the ball I want the midfielders to quickly close them down, as well as the forwards helping out to win back possession. The main two players that must not have time on the ball are Bale and Silva. The full back that Bale is up against should be more defensive, with the other pushing on. Luiz is to be the main marker of the striker, presumably Jackson with Pique sweeping in behind.
When we have the ball, two midfielders push up, one sits. So all three of our midfielders will be attacking 2/3s of the time. Ronaldo and James should look to beat their men, cut right inside and look for the space. Nominally wingers, but with freedom. Rooney should be a focal point in the middle, pressing their centre backs to get deeper and creating more room.

If winning - Gabi on for one of the CMs. Fresh legs.

If losing - Di Maria, Tevez, Vermaelen for Danilo, Marcelo, Koke. 3-5-2 with James, Ronaldo, Di Maria behind Rooney and Tevez. Pogba and Pastore CM.
