Re: SURREY vs KENT ROYAL LONDON CUP QUARTER FINAL
Thanks, JimBob.
Strongly agree with you about the two most likely to miss out. It would have been very interesting though to see who else would have been on the bench if Wilson had been available???
I'm in London in the morning and hope to make it to the Oval for the afternoon start. Corporal - you are the weather expert, what do you reckon?

Guildford - I think it is more likely than not to be dry during the game. Quite what the condition of the ground will be from all the rain in the last few days tho is another matter.
I agree with the predictions about the side. With the return of Sanga, the good batting form of Foakes and of Sam Curran, there is I guess a possibility that Dunn might come in for Burke.

Re: SURREY vs KENT ROYAL LONDON CUP QUARTER FINAL
Thanks, Corporal. With the good drainage system these days at the Oval plus some hard work from the ground staff, hopefully a decent chance of a proper game.
Just to add - whilst Burkey often looks like someone who could miss out on selection, he's done remarkably well so far in this year's RL 50. In that competition, he's our leading wicket taker (15) with the best average (18.53). He's been more expensive than most but his economy rate is still a tad under a run a ball. Think Olly flagged these figures the other week. Would be a harsh call for him not to make the eleven.

Hi guys, the XI is as predicted - Kap & Dunn miss out. We won the toss and- surprise, surprise - we're going to have a bat. I'm at the ground with a friend, at the back to the hash older side of the sight screen wearing a 'Yosemite' sweatshirt if any regulars fancy saying hello. Simon

250 - 6 in the 47th over. Apart from Le Roi we've only managed to hit 7 boundaries! Hope this means it is a difficult scoring pitch.

Words 2-9 might be correct, Jimbob but hopefully the scores on the board may serve us well..it is going to be a challenging target for Kent and at the moment I remain confident of a semi-final place....if I am wrong ...well it's a mickey mouse competition and we'll just concentrate on celebrating promotion to Div 1

Re: SURREY vs KENT ROYAL LONDON CUP QUARTER FINAL
Corporal - Test match wicket being used but with the boundary ropes on all sides pushed back further. Thus, boundaries more difficult. I agree with JimBob that we made a pig's ear at the end but we are still in this ....

It's now tipping it down and the players have been off for 20 mns with Kent 22-2 in the 8th over, 42 behind the DL par score. It doesn't lol an easy pitch to score on quickly.

I believe the minimum number of overs to constitute a match in QF of this competition is 20.
There is bright evening sunshine in West Kent at the moment.

Ooh, hang on - 8pm restart with Kent now needing 251 from 40 overs, ie another 229 @ just over 7 an over.

Re: SURREY vs KENT ROYAL LONDON CUP QUARTER FINAL
This is now a weird game within a game: if Coles stays in he WILL win it. He's hitting A couple of boundaries an over not running for antything else then taking a single off the last ball. This could be one of the most extraordinary performances of all time. He's now just hit Jade for two massive sixes in three balls. Coles into the 80s, 38 to win off 27. The win is on for Kent!

Wow - that was some match. Amid all the superlatives for Coles, and earlier for le Roi , it's worth noting that the two Currans were the most economical bowlers on either side.

Re: SURREY vs KENT ROYAL LONDON CUP QUARTER FINAL
WOW!
Incredible game. Not long back.
So close and perhaps closer still. Don't know if Churchy commented or you guys picked it up but we were behind the clock on the number of overs bowled which would have given Kent 6 extra runs if we had had to bowl the 40th over.
Several cracking performances - Roy obvious and Coles even more so! Further down the pecking order but still worthy of note were:
* Tredwell - lovely controlled spell with 3 important wickets, just a shame for Kent it was broken up by 4 overs of dross from Cowdrey;
* That's All - his keeping was memorable for key dismissals but quietly reliable throughout;
* TC - the pick of several impressive seamers.

Worth pointing out they're missing Hales and I think Taylor? (Is Taylor right, there is another one they're missing!)

Re: SURREY vs KENT ROYAL LONDON CUP QUARTER FINAL
Hi Olly - yeah, Notts lose both Hales and Taylor. You could justifiably say we come off better in only losing Roy. However, really it's a shame for both sides and the semi-final.
Harinath is far more of a stroke player than he was only a year or so ago. I would now be comfortable with him being part of the mix for our limited overs games. However, as regards the next match I'm pretty sure that Wilson and Kapil (a respectable 33 in his only RL 50 game this year when opening in place of Davies) are ahead of him in the queue.

Re: SURREY vs KENT ROYAL LONDON CUP QUARTER FINAL
Even after a good night's sleep, I still can't quite believe what I saw yesterday. In sum, it was like five games in one, as follows:
1/ Roy-led Surrey march towards setting yet another huge total
2/ Surrey collapse - huge total shrinks to challenging day/night chase
3/ Kent falter in the chase - rain stops play
4/ Kent fall away till only 9, 10 Jack remain to complete the Last Rites
5/ Coles puts in a - surely once in a lifetime - extraordinary display, morphing seamlessly from careful support for Stevens followed by an outstanding bravura display of 'senior partner' measured tactical hitting to all but pull off the almost impossible. I was almost, almost willing him to complete it: it would have been one of those 'I was there' moments, in its way equal to Headingley 1981.
The game is summarised beautifully here: http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2015/content/story/914369.html
Enjoy.
