U.S.A. v Australia.
I dont know if anyone else here is watching this game but at half time the the score is 14 - 10 to Australia, The US has already had a man in the bin for 10, Australia (ranked second in the World,) are getting really belted by the American in defense.

Watching, of course. After a nervous start the US defense has really turned it on. Putting great pressure on the Wallabies. The US try was well worked, too. Their 12 has got to receive some professional offers. He is a very good player.

Laurie, who is broadcasting the match you are watching? Which commentators. One problem here in the US is the American commentators are not so good. A country full of sports commentators, and we get the poor ones.
The Wallabies are used to adjusting to different tactics. Hopefully the American boys can keep with them. Also hopefully the Americans can keep their fitness.

Doc, who ever your broadcaster is who has the colured scallop shell for its emblem, ABC, CbS? I dont know its good listening to their commentators as they are talking to an audience that is not that familiar with Rugby.
21 10 Australia.

Shame. The Americans had a lineout deep in Australia territory, almost knocking on the Wallaby line. Unfortunately, an American knock-on, a penalty, and an Aussie drive and now it's 10-21 at the 50 minute mark. One of the big differences between the big boys and the rest is composure at game changing points moments. Something the Americans have to learn.

It's a Peacock, mate. The NBC symbol is a Peacock.aucklandlaurie wrote:

28 10 to Australia.
two things that have impressed about the US has been their backs, from two aspects, firstly running the ball right to the D line , and then on defence really getting in a banging the Aussie backs with their shoulders. Great stuff.

I don't like the US outhalf. But the rest are pretty good.
The US captain, Wyles, on one wing tonight, has played for Saracens in UK for a long time and plays positions from 12-15.
The US 15 plays for Leicester.
The other Wing is from Zim originally and has played for Biarritz for a long time.
But it is the 12 which impresses me He will get a contract.
All are playing tough defense.
In addition, the 8 Manoa played for Northampton Saints for the last few years and just received a contract from Toulon for almost USD $1 million/year, and is therefore really, really good. Former premiership player of the year.
Some potential there.

Drat. A few key mistakes and now it's 10-42 with 5 minutes left. US did pretty well and have a lot to learn. Some good professionals and some amateurs against some top notch Internationals. Not bad.

Final score 47 10.
As a neutral I really enjoyed that, if anyone wants to to know a game to not miss in the RWC then dont miss USA v Samoa. its going to be a classic.

Re: U.S.A. v Australia.
All my mates here are hoping so, Laurie. It would be a great RWC for the American team to beat Japan and Samoa. They need to be more clinical with their scoring chances and cut down their simple turnovers. But things are looking up.

When ever Australia or us play you it is a team of Super rugby players against players who at best enjoy a semi professional environment and remuneration.
I was impressed with USA last year, and this game again to day, you guys should be very proud.

Well, not actually my guys, as I am stuck in the rut as an Englishman. But my lads have gone over to the dark side are are USA supporters. And they were pretty satisfied, but my younger one, the Hooker, told me the lineout errors would never happen if he was there.................

Thats a good point about those lineout errors, USA will now look at this game and over the next two weeks to address those issues.

Re: U.S.A. v Australia.
Those errors did seem pretty basic and fundamental. Maybe going against a top tier team made them feel some pressure? A lot of those lineout mistakes didn't seem to be from anything the Wallabies were doing. Hopefully they can grow from this.

Doc, the US 12, Palamo, apparently at Sarries and playing on loan for London Welsh this season?

I didn't know that. That is good for Palamo. Thanks for letting me know.ChequeredJersey wrote:Doc, the US 12, Palamo, apparently at Sarries and playing on loan for London Welsh this season?
In the match yesterday, he had one of the best game of anyone in either team. Strong competent tackling, powerful running, good hands. And he seemed to really be enjoying himself. He was lined up against Matt Giteau and didn't look out of place at all. Going forwards, I hope has gets a good opportunity to play and make it to the Premiership.

I really enjoyed this game especially the first half, the ref let a few things go for the good of game and both teams tried to play the occasion.
Probably of all the games I watched yesterday this one was the most fun. Saying that the Scottish gave it a lash as well.
