Great boxer shame about the chin
There are some fighters who have world class ability and are able to dominate their opposition whilst hiding their weak and fragile chins. Quite an accomplishment considering boxing is like taking a shower you're gonna get wet.
So who can you think of?
Here are my candidates
Roy Jones Jnr - Tarver and Johnson exposed him
Wladimir Klitschko - Byrd, Brewster, Peter and the S/A heavyweight.
Nazeem Hamed - Kelly showed the boxing world that the prince could be dropped.
Lennox Lewis - sloopy against Mccall and exposed again by Rahman.

Nazeem had a good chin, he was mostly off balance when floored.

Jones, Lewis and Hamed all had decent chins.
Naseem especially I can't remember him ever really being on queer street - more flash and balance issue knockdowns. Possibly the most hurt I seen him was the first round against Barrera.
Cheers, Rodders

David Price
Perhaps not the best boxer but a bronze medalist and had enough fundamentals and in current HW climate he had the tools to make an impact except for the fact he has a chin made of porcelain.

Maybe slightly controversial but Andy Lee.
Has gone on to win a world strap but is always vulnerable when taking a shot. He has decent powers of recovery but usually take a few mins to kick in so if you can keep pressure on after the first knockdown he can be taken out.

Charlie Magri, although not a great boxer a very good one, KO'D by 2 Mexicans before winning the world title and losing the title by TKO in his first defence. Charlie's legs used to go when hit on the chin, all his 5 losses were from stoppages.

Re: Great boxer shame about the chin
Agree on Jones, everyone expected him to get up from that Tarver punch, including Tarver and the ref.
Hatton did well to keep his hidden so long, expected it to be as tough as he was.
Nigel Benn could have done with a better chin considering his fighting style

Hatton showed in the Tzuyu fight and many others he had a very good chin, years of drinking and blowing up in weight ruined his punch resistance.

1/2 knows your the best Sheng, that's why he's trying to emulate you
Khans probably the best shout I think, fantastic boxer that really should be right at the top and I think would be if it weren't for his chin.
Price might be a good shout, whilst not the best boxer, he does have that power and if he could stay on his feet would be a lot more dangerous. (IMO)

Re: Great boxer shame about the chin
Guess it depends if we're sticking to the concept of someone who's excellent skills help them to succeed despite their chin.
Jorge linares? Terry Norris?
If you're just looking at talented guys whose chin wrecked their careers, well there's no shortage. Our own errol Christie is a standout for that one.
