I think everything on the show either delivered or over delivered, Apart from Cena vs Daniel Bryan's Non Union Mexican Equivalent which I thought was pretty disappointing given the standards Cena has set this year

Del Rio: Boring then, boring now. Is WWE no longer racist? Do principles only matter when you are being given awful booking? Does this prove that leaving WWE is the best thing a midcarder can do - because you instantly become sexy to Vince. It was an awful match too, the worst part of a decent PPV.
Good finish, and JBL using the word b*stard a few times was weirdly good.

Would have preferred Daniel Bryan as he could've even continued the open challenge. Del Rio is ok but the alliance with Colter just doesn't make sense at all.
Overall an OK show, the diva's had a good showiing as did Reigns/Wyatt. But Taker/Lesnar stole the show, I think the blood helped here and made it more intense. Good to see Lesnar get the win too.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I thought it was a fantastic PPV, the last month of wrestling has been painful to watch so I'm hoping they can change it.
Gutted it was Del Rio that came out as he is so boring, and the alligence with Coulter is just stupid.
Reigns vs Wyatt was decent. Rightful winner in Reigns, really wished the fans would just get behind him. Most of his matches on PPV, usually lead to this is awesome chants anyway.
Tag team match was an awful finish. Hopefully the dudleys win in a tables match at survivor series.
Divas match was my favourite divas match I have seen for a long long long time. Niki bella looked absolutely outstanding as well!
Seth vs Kane was decent, Seth with a clean win. Him vs Reigns at SS I recon.
Ryback vs Owens did nearly put me to sleep I must admit.
Main event was class. The aftermath was brilliant, Wyatt family vs brothers of destruction.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
Fantastic overall show - typical bloody WWE.
I think im the only one that didnt mind Del Rio. It was a decent enough match and a clean pin - doesnt that make him like, only the 6th or something person ever?
Reigns vs Wyatt was as good as it could have been - it was always going to be held back a notch so that Taker and Lesnar could steal the show. It was still wholly enjoyable, these two work really well together. Interesting to see where Reigns and Ambrose go now, Tag titles?
Speaking of Tag Titles. Is that this feud over now? It was a relatively clean finish, despite some funny shenanigans. Seems odd to bring the Dudleys back and not give them a 10th tag title.
Nikki shone bright tonight, and I say that lightly. It was a good enough match, but still no where near the level of Banks vs Bayley.
Seth gets another win, and looked brilliant again tonight. A win against Kane doesnt mean too much these days, but a win is a win. I think we could get another match out of this feud.
I've been hot and cold on Ryback so many times I feel like a broken thermostat. Another win to put Owens over, but he needs better competition to help him shine, I just cant see who he's going to face next.
Main event was excellent. A brilliant way to end their story even it was just shy of bettering their first HIAC. For a guy who doesnt like getting punched in the face, Lesnar sure loves busting himself open the hard way. The only negative of this match was the Doctor. Nothing says Hell in a Cell better than stopping to let the doctor in.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
and I have to say, both Taker and Lesnar dealt with the doctor brilliantly. They basically both told him to f off, and Lesnar pushing him is worth it. They let him do what he wanted but maintained kayfabe brilliantly. Utter pros. It was a compelling match with a good finish.
Reigns and Wyatt were brilliant.
I just really struggled with ADR. Never popular, heel or face? no context anyway, no interest in building someone new with the Challenge, not the end it needed and a baffling bit of hotshotting. Hispanic market suffering? Build Kalisto properly, who also fits into the young talent you can put over if you remember how to do that.

Would you have preferred for Rey Mysterio to have made a surprise appearance and win?
Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
Was disappointed with Del Rio, I've struggled to really buy into him since he debuted in 2010, that being said I was absolutely dreading Daniel Bryan's music hitting, Cena has been booked like the big deal he is with that belt but Bryan wouldn't have, he'd have went to the 50/50 booking scheme the majority of guys are on and any hope for a Main Event run would have been clipped sharpish IMO.
Really enjoyed the PPV overall, the Brock/Taker Match was superb, loved the psychology to it, two guys who look and feel like legitimate big deals

Depends if he was gagged and dressed like Mr Slave. I don't think he really developed his gimp gimmick far enough and I won't ever buy into his legacy until he does.

I thought that was a great PPV, second behind Mania overall for me this year
Wyatt family looking properly dangerous is so good, ADR back is good (and he's got a manager again so we dont need to hear his 15 minute promos!), Owens won, very very good Divas match, New Day are fantastic
Now WWE... keep it up

I don't think enough props have been given to Reigns and Wyatt on their match, think both put on a great display and for two guys that often need someone guiding them through a match they showcased a growing maturity.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
So that means Reigns, Del Rio, New Day, Owens, Ziggler, Cesaro & Neville...
I'll hedge my bets on Reigns becoming NO 1 Contender...can't see anyone else taking tha mantle...though would love to see Cesaro, Ziggler or Owens get an opportunity!
Cesaror & Owens are the two who I would love to see go over Brock when the time comes...they are the only two who I feel have that 'bad ass' legitimacy to them.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I've only watched the ADR match so far. That is one of the poorest US matches we've had.
I've seen ADR get great receptions and work well outside WWE, but back in WWE he's just right back in the same mid-card spot with the same reception, doing the same moves. It is not very exciting.
But I guess in what has been a fairly bad year for AAA (e.g. Perro Jr dying, the travesty of AAAMania, etc.) losing their champion just about caps it all off for them.

Prom, I'm not sure we can just dismiss Del Rio right now, on his first night back he won the US Title and pinned John Cena clean, thats a rub not many ever get, I think as a debut or re-debut that's as good as it gets, that being said I think the audience where that meh to the Del Rio character by the time he left WWE last time that their just isn't much anticipation for him this time around.

I've seen better reviews of his Raw performance (not watched that either). So, I can only go on what I've seen, but from HIAC for me there are two issues:
1) I've seen Cena work much better matches recently and also ADR. Maybe it was going out first, but this just didn't click. I think it was a 2.5* match, nothing that you could actually call bad, but very much a TV match and the ending just felt a bit like it came from nowhere.
2) Its the same ADR. Cena has, to a degree, moved on. He's been fighting people with a different move-set and he's adapted to that. ADR is away a year or so and its just back to where he was. That may not be bad if you like ADR, but I think it was a chance for him to come in with something a bit different.
I suspect that by the time Cena comes back, the US title will be back to how we thought of it before Cena's run.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I agree that without Cena the US Title will be far less relevent and I agree that Del Rio did nothing that he hasn't done before but then again he did nothing different from the guy who won the Rumble, MitB and the World Title, I just think from a starting point it doesn't get much better than beating Cena cleanly, even in his pomp in 2011 I couldn't see him going over Cena so strongly.
I'm not big on Del Rio but I think with Zeb Coulter it'd be interesting to see where they'll go with him before writing him off

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I think what is interesting is that usually if you leave WWE you have to pay for it, and Vince will make you take some loses. The fact that ADR is not going through that suggests that WWE's need is greater than his. There are maybe a few reasons for this:
- getting one over on AAA by taking their champion
- WWE is desperate for a Mexican star to reach that community
- ADR may have some overhanging legal issue on how he left WWE
Or, I may be reading far too much into this.

Not entirely sure that's the case if you leave and become a big thing Vince tends to just give you a title Rock ended Punk's reign, Lesnar ended Taker's streak, ADR ended Cena's US Reign. He likes his part timers (which is what ADR will be apparently)
Also Rusev popped his shoulder out on Main Event apparently.

Fair points. Not that I'd have ADR in the category of Lesnar and Rock, but fair points.
In fairness its probably best for Rusev if he can lay low for a month.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
He left WWE claiming they were racist, he was bound to get a push for coming back on their request.
His two wins so far have come with a kick to the side of the head and a double foot stomp to Neville whilst stuck on the turnbuckle. Interesting that he hasn't had to use his finisher like everyone else. I wonder if they are trying to move him away from having every match build to the armbar. They mentioned it on commentary so it's hard to say he might be moving on from the move in general, but it'd be nice if he had another string to his bow.
I'm not interested in him and I doubt I will be. That him and Zeb are making this run about a new nation called MexAmerica is utterly ridiculous.
Funnily enough, I didn't feel like Del Rio was that good on Raw and that really it was all Neville's work.

For me the only ever redeeming feature of ADR was Ricardo, without him he's Mr Vanilla, above average in most areas but not excelling in any. If 'Meh' ever made it into the dictionary then it'd simply be accompanied by a photo of ADR.

This is obviously wrestling, so money is usually what makes things happen.
But man, ADR (or AEP) appeared in LU and he hit a great promo, I mean I know we are talking an order of magnitude difference in the number of people who attend, but he blew the roof off the building. And he had a really, really good match against Johnny Mundo. It was like a whole new ADR that I'd forgotten existed, and now its like he's back to the ADR that I'd just rather forget does exist.

The problem being in WWE he has to deliver more consistently. I really liked the beginning of his face turn, and I also think more credit should be given to him than he is offered when it comes to that Ziggler double-turn. But thats it.

If anyone was in major need of an injury it was Rusev, at least this way it gifes the WWE a good chance to get him off TV and allow the fans to forget about him without criticising them, in time they can reintroduce Rusev and Lana together again.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
Finally getting round to this PPV. While Reigns and Wyatt both worked hard and hit a couple of spots, that must be the most boring, unnecessary HIAC match ever. 2.5*
New Day are out now though, which is always a good thing, though I've practically zero interest in the Dudleys. Well, yeah that was fun. Nothing more than a TV match, but it was enjoyable enough. 2.5*

Must disagree. That was a very good HIAC match and one that makes even more sense in the context of how the cell will be used later. The two of them needed a match like that in their storyline and in their careers. Think this is where my feelings towards story over match come in because I often feel like you have a different view.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I've not seen the other cell match yet, but there was absolutely no point in making that a HIAC match. And the match itself was slow and plodding between two wrestlers who have little chemistry and require a more skilled opponent to get the best out of them. They worked hard, they took table spots, but that was one of the worst cell matches I've ever seen.

I don't think so. I'd be more forgiving if it was just another match, but I think a HIAC match should be the ultimate pay-off, a match you want to go back to in the future to remind yourself how heated a blood feud got and how it could be ended. I struggled to make my way through this match the first time out, and I'm pretty willing to bet that no-one is going to watch it again. It was boring, flat and a waste of lowering the cell.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
It was one of the few times in the last few years you'd call for the Cell. And as many Cell matches have shown, spots are often necessary. Again, it makes much more sense in context of the other match because when you have two on the card you have to differentiate.
It should also have never been a technical affair. Not the way those two work and not what the story wants.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
We'll happily agree to differ on this. But I don't see anyone remembering that feud in 9 months time. I'm clearly not a fan of the work of either wrestler, putting them together was always unlikely to be a meeting that would hold very little interest for me. I thought at least we might have seen the intensity of the HIAC give some pay-off.
In other news, Rollins really worked hard in that Kane match. I've been really critical of how he's been booked as champion, but he's in the top 3 WWE workers, they will miss him. I'd give that 3.5*
Seems like some time was cut from the Ryback / Owens fight because that never really started. 2*
I think it must be Undertaker / Lesnar next. I'm looking forward to this. Am hoping it delivers, because so far this is one of WWE's poorer PPVs this year. And that was the opposite of the Reigns / Wyatt match. I was hooked into it, there was real intensity and a genuine feel that this was a cell match. I'm not such a fan of Lesnar bleeding so early (whether blading or the hardway, we've seen him do it before), but that would be a small moan. 4*
Still, one of the weaker WWE PPVs this year IMO.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I can't believe you've given Rollins/Kane 3.5*, it was dreadful! Yet are saying the Reigns/Wyatt match was really bad and forgettable. That's honestly madness. I thought that the feud's natural escalation made sense for it to end in a Cell. We saw the initial match, Wyatt cheat to win, then them having a feud with added people, before finally settling one on one in a setting that ensured it would be one on one. It wasn't a technical classic, but it was brutal, it told a good story and I thought both men came out of it looking good. I actually thought it was a better match than Undertaker/Lesnar and the build up made the Cell match much more necessary. Undertaker/Lesnar should have had, especially considering the violent and angry build up to Summerslam, but they put no effort into making the Cell match be a big deal on Raw.
Rollins/Kane was a really, really bad match. I'd struggle to even give it a single star to be honest. It was slow, it was boring and the result was never in doubt. It proved completely why it was stupid to put Kane against Rollins in the first place, it gave nothing to anybody. Rollins looked poor, Kane looked old, slow and weak and the viewers had to sit through it. I mean you can try and give plaudits for Rollins for actually completing a full match I suppose? I actually think this highlighted what Rollins can't do yet, which is create a good match out of a bad situation which marks out the great from the good.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I posted that a mere 3 days ago. And you know what? I can't remember anything about the match now. So, I'll take the criticism that I over rated the match. At the time I thought that Rollins worked hard and it was as good as a Kane match was going to be in 2015 and I was kind of into it. But a couple of days later, its had zero impact on me. Couldn't go to the dud level though. As I said somewhere I think this was one of WWE's poorest PPVs of the year and I can't imagine myself ever watching anything from it again to reappraise a rating I gave any of the matches.
What I meant about the Reigns / Wyatt Cell stipulation was more than I didn't think they really used the cell, rather than it shouldn't have been in a cell. If you are going to be in a cell, work the cell hard. Otherwise, have a no DQ match, or ban anyone from coming to ringside. And I don't buy the idea of "it has to be different to the other cell match". Well don't book two cell matches on one card. Simples.
EDIT: I should probably add that this PPV led to me cancelling my Network subscription (again). I've still got Survivor Series and I'm actually looking forward to that. But, it took me a good while to get round to watching HIAC and that's fairly representative of my interest in WWE right now. I'll be back for Mania, but till then I'm going to spend my wrestling pocket money elsewhere.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I'm sorry, but you're being obstinate. You have to book the two differently, and you have to book many wrestling matches differently on cards, and there are capabilities from the Cell to do two (or more) different types of matches.
If you go by kayfabe, the Cell is a big deal. And thats the point, the feud needed an ending so you time it with the Cell. It was different to why Taker and Lesnar were in the Cell too, although based on "ending".
I don't think you were going to allow yourself to like your match regardless.

Tbh I'm completely the other way on the cells, I much preferred the Reigns v Wyatt, I felt they had heat and some neat spots plus the finish was exciting, Lesnar & Taker got by on punching & Bleeding, plus they did the nonsensical ripping the mat spot that people rightly ripped Bully Ray and TNA for a few years back, not saying either match was a classic but the Reigns/Wyatt cell was the superior of the 2 for me

I'm with House on this, for me Wyatt v Reigns was a great match especially when both guys have needed their hands held at times through PPV matches yet here they didn't have someone to lead the match yet it was well paced, told a story and engaged the fans.

Debate is good, right?
I've just taken a look at Meltzer's ratings and also 411s
Reigns / Wyatt 3.75:3.75*, Rollins / Kane 3.5:1.5*, Brock / Taker 4.25:4*
So, it seems everyone rated Reigns / Wyatt higher than I did. And a big divide on that Rollins / Kane match. Opinons, huh? All I know is that the experience of watching HIAC was good for me, because it made me watch a load of PWG after and that's almost all been off the scale.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I'll admit that I'm a sucker for Heyman. If I were at a carnival he'd have every last cent out of my pocket and probably my shirt too before I left. But, I did feel there was something special about this last meeting of Brock and Taker. I don't really know why because they didn't have this massive long history, but it just felt like 2 of the biggest (both physically and name wise) guys in a cell together, fighting for the last time was this big thing. Heyman pitched it and I bought in, hook, line and sinker. And so I was in there, 100% invested in this from the bell. And that's what I really really look for in a match the one where I'm sat on the edge of my seat, can't take my eyes off it.

Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results
I thought their Summerslam match had a much better build up, the Hell in a Cell build up was really, really poor by comparison. When Undertaker appeared at Battleground, I enjoyed the moment itself, but was not looking forward to their match and feud. Then over the next few Raws they sucked me in, made me look forward to their match, told a great, brutal story, they sold the match. Then the match was good, I thought the ending was good as it showed the desperation of the Undertaker, the endurance of Lesnar and left it open for more. Then when they announced the next match I was pretty excited, until nothing happened. The feud didn't escalate, they were at each other's throats for Summerslam and by all logic Lesnar should be really annoyed by the way the last match ended but I didn't feel it. Every week went by with no build up I lost my interest in the match, and this is from a big Lesnar and Undertaker fan. I think WWE didn't think it needed the effort to build up as Lesnar/Undertaker part III should sell itself, but it didn't. The match was good but because of how lazily the build up was, I didn't believe the hatred, it felt like they were both bored of their feud in kayfabe after Summerslam.

Agreed with Crimey. The fact the match was announced during a commercial as part of a 'Tour' on a Network special and neither man appeared on RAW until the week before the PPV sucked me out of it.
It was still a hell of a match though.
It was still a hell of a match though.
