Hell In a Cell for the WWE Universal Title: Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns

We go to the ring for tonight's main event as the red Cell is lowered around the ring. JoJo introduces the special referee for this match and out comes WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley to a pop. Foley enters the Cell and is wearing a custom referee button-up shirt. Braun Strowman is out next to officially cash in his Money In the Bank title shot. Braun does not have the briefcase with him. Braun enters the Cell and waits as the boos start up. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is out next to a mixed reaction. Reigns stops and looks at the Cell before entering. Reigns enters the Cell and the door is chained shut. We get formal ring introductions from JoJo.

Reigns raises the title during the introductions but Braun snatches it and raises it up. Reigns rocks him and here we go. Reigns with offense but Braun sends him to the corner and runs in with a big splash. Back and forth for a few seconds until Braun rocks Reigns again. Braun charges and knocks Reigns from the apron into the steel. Reigns lands on the floor. Braun follows and sends Reigns into the red steel, then face-first into the steel ring post. Braun launches Reigns into the steel once again. Braun taunts Reigns about having nowhere to run and no way for his boys to get in and help him.

Braun brings it back into the ring but Reigns fights back. Braun grabs him by the throat. Reigns ducks a shot and rocks Braun, knocking him through the ropes. Braun recovers and nails a big shoulder tackle on the outside, sending Reigns into the steel again. Braun works Reigns over and sends him into the apron, the steel steps and the Cell several times. Reigns comes back and hits a Drive By on the outside. Braun turns it around and clubs Reigns on the outside, dropping him on the apron. Fans chant "get these hands" as Braun brings a kendo stick from under the ring. Reigns takes the stick and beats Braun with it, shattering the stick. Braun takes it and breaks it, then rolls Reigns in the ring. Reigns rocks Braun as he re-enters. Reigns grabs the steel chair and rocks Braun with it several times. Braun is still standing. Braun catches a chair shot but Reigns counters and Braun goes shoulder-first into the ring post.

Reigns drops Braun on the steel chair with a DDT but Braun kicks out at 2. Reigns with a Superman Punch, and another but Braun is still standing. Reigns goes for a third Superman Punch but Braun blocks it and chokeslams him for a very close 2 count. The announcers wonder if Foley botched the count. Braun argues with Foley now. Braun ends up running into a big boot in the corner. More back and forth. Braun lifts Reigns but Reigns connects with another Superman Punch on the way down for another close 2 count. Braun rolls to the floor for a breather.

Reigns keeps control and follows to the floor. Reigns runs around the ring and charges at Braun but Braun meets him with steel steps to the face. Braun tosses the steps into the ring and stands over Reigns. Braun rolls Reigns back into the ring and smacks him in the face with the steps again. Braun with a 2 count. Braun scoops Reigns but Reigns slides out and stuns him with a Superman Punch, and another. Reigns hits a Spear, putting Braun through the table in the corner. Reigns rolls Braun over and covers for a close 2 count.

RAW Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre run down to the Cell now, arguing with the referee about getting inside. WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose run down and attack them. Ziggler tries to escape through the crowd but they stop him and send him into the side of the Cell. Ambrose and Rollins take apart the announce table now. McIntyre makes the save and bets on Ambrose. Ziggler starts climbing the outside of the Cell and Rollins follows. They make it to the top of the Cell and start brawling. McIntyre is climbing the side of the structure now. McIntyre and Ziggler double team Rollins up top. Ambrose is climbing up now and he has a kendo stick. Fans chant "this is awesome" as Rollins gets double teamed and Ambrose climbs. Ambrose makes it on top of unloads with kendo stick shots to Ziggler and McIntyre. McIntyre blocks a shot and unloads with Ambrose, pounding on each other. McIntyre drops Ambrose with a big clothesline on top of the Cell.

Ziggler starts climbing down the side of the Cell but Rollins goes after him. We see Braun and Reigns down in the ring still. Rollins and Ziggler trade shots on the side of the Cell from way up high. Rollins and Ziggler both go flying from the side of the Cell through the announce table at ringside. A "holy s--t" chant starts up. Rollins and Ziggler are laid out in the debris. The music interrupts and out comes Brock Lesnar as the crowd goes wild. Paul Heyman is with him.

Heyman argues with a standard referee about opening the Cell. Lesnar, now sporting a beard, doesn't wait and kicks the Cell door off the hinges. Lesnar enters the Cell and hops in the ring, staring down at Reigns and Strowman. Heyman sprays something in the eyes of Foley to take him out after they argue on the outside. Lesnar brings part of the Cell door in the ring and beats on the match participants with parts of the table. Lesnar scoops Strowman and drops him with a F5. Fans chant for Suplex City now. Lesnar scoops Reigns next and hits him with a F5, dropping him on top of Braun. Lesnar stands over Reigns and Strowman to yell out. Fans chant "one more time" but Lesnar exits the Cell and heads up the ramp with Heyman. Reigns and Strowman are down in the middle of the ring. A new referee enters and calls for the bell to end the match.

No Contest

- The referee calls for more officials to hit the ring, to check on Reigns and Strowman. Hell In a Cell goes off the air with Strowman and Reigns laid out.

WWE Hell In A Cell Results Empty Re: WWE Hell In A Cell Results

It was actually a really enjoyable PPV until the main event, which was a Frak of nonsense.

I think the most grating thing about the main event is having Mick Foley refereeing a Hell in a Cell matched that ended in a no contest because the two competitors (who it should be added took a ten minute break in the rig whilst the roof shenanigans were happening) were both F5’d.

Positives:

Hardy vs Orton was a very good Cell match. I felt from minute one that Jeff is a pure babyface that few in that company compare to. Match of the night and some good spots, especially the finish.

Tag title match had some brilliant parts and the finish was great. Big Drew is a lad.

The Smackdown women’s title had a good result, nice finish and also didn’t play too much into Becky being a chickenshit heel, which had got some backlash before. The mat stuff at the start wasn’t exhilarating, but built well on their “knowledge of their opponent’s style”

Rousey sold well, dominated well.

More time is being given to matches

Joe/AJ finish was executed and acted well.

Brock has the beard back

Negatives:

Main event was ridiculous

Bryan’s use is excusable cos he wanted to work with his wife, but it’s starting to ruin any momentum his return gave him.

AJ/Joe isn’t working for me, unsure if it’s cos I hate the family aspect.I did zone out though so it might be my fault.

The double fall off the side of the cell through the tables spot is really obvious and overdone

Can’t help but look at the people not used on this PPV and be confused. I don’t mind people not being used, but it gives them no excuse for not letting them have amazing matches on TV.

On the other hand, Survivor Series is surely going to be insane as everyone demands pay days and we have 10 5v5 matches

I've only watched the Cell matches so far.

Orton v Hardy was great, very good storytelling and also sadistic Orton is far better, glad they turned him heel. Great spot with the finish. Probably the end of the feud, not sure where either man goes though.

Reigns v Strowman, even with all the interference, everything was great, mega pop for the surprise return of Lesnar, but the no contest thing just ruined it for me. Mick Foley, with all his Cell history, right there (albeit temporarily blinded), and they do that.

Could have easily had Reigns pin Strowman once Lesnar had left, have Brock hit Strowman with a 2nd F5 on his way out, Reigns crawls over and pins Braun to steal it, still has the same story going forward, still keeps Roman as Champion, and still has Strowman baying for revenge.

- Overall really entertaining. First HIAC match was great, heel Orton is such a legitimate douche and it is great to watch. I was surprised they had Orton kick so strongly out of the Swanton through the chair

- Tag match was as great as expected. Ending shot of Drew carrying the belts and Ziggler is magnificent.

- I am a little surprised no one read the script on AJ/Joe and commented on another duff finish in a WWE title match. I can see why they did it. But after the neverending Nakamura story it was not the right place. Why keep the title on AJ longer? Maybe they didn't want to change it on same show as Women's title but its just in need of a freshen up

- The main event was a pile of crazy but bar the finish I think that the situation just about allowed it to pass. Lesnar?? Who knows where this is going. The no contest feels like the wrong thing to end the night with.

- Lol at Drew smashing iPads like he is Kirstie Allsopp...

I was just about to write that this sets things up nicely for TLC. AJ/Joe in a ladder match so "no one has champions advantage" and Shield v Strowman/Ziggles/Drew in a TLC match with all the titles on the line. Then I realised TLC isn't until December this year so who knows where the Frak this will all go

Orton vs Jeff massively exceeded expectations. Orton particularly showed a side we havent seen in a very long time. Looking forward to where this 'reverse legend killer' thing goes. Credit to Jeff, that was a sick bump to take, the table doesnt provide a whole lot in the way of breaking his fall. DIfferent Cell heights taken into consideration thats got to be up there with the bumps Foley took.

Becky vs Charlotte was very by the numbers but was fine. Thought the ending came out of nowhere a bit. Thought they would have retconned Summerslam entirely and went with a double turn but they seem persistant on Becky being the heel.

RAW tag match was 100mph from start to finish, these four guys have great chemistry. Still buzzing to see my boy Drew looking like an absolute beast. Shaken off the 3MB stank well.

I dont know what it was about Joe vs Styles, and for as good a match as it was there was something that did quite click. Probably could have done with a stipulation, and the WWE title isnt changing hands in Australia so expect another Frak finish there. I like AJ but this reign has been largely forgettable and I think SmackDown needs a bit of freshening up.

Now we've gotten the wifes bit in, can we leave Miz vs Bryan to WrestleMania now? Smart booking keeping the women out as long as possible, neither of them were known for their wrestling ability and I think this match suffered from the tag gimmick.

Bliss vs Ronda was OK. I think Ronda was exposed a bit in this match, although she sold well. They are booking themselves into a corner by making it seem the only way anyone has a chance is if she's injured - its kinda like why Chyna never wrestled in the womens division.

I had high hopes for Reigns vs Strowman. I was expecting them to boot the Poopie out of each other and I wasnt disappointed. Until the tag teams came out and it devolved into a shmoz. It became too mental at that point, although I marked out a little when Lesnar appeared. Really wasnt expecting it and loved the impact he had, although not keen on the match being thrown out at that point. Especially when Jeff died earlier in the evening and the ref still counted the pin. I would have taken the teams interference out, and just had Lesnar come out and destroy them both before Reigns somehow manages to pin Strowman. Even have him take the F5 on Strowman like they did but he lands there and the ref counts the pin.

All in all its hard to call this a bad show, for the most part it was pretty good. Not many negatives to speak of and nothing that was objectively bad.

Also, all the times you hear about people being glad Lesnar left, there was a bloody big pop when he came out. He's still a draw, he just shouldnt be champion.
