London Irish v Saracens, 12th March 2016, Red Bull Arena New York
After trying so hard to get a fixture in the states, seems that Saracens have finally managed it but as visitors.
with LI also at home the following week, does that give them two St Paddys Day fixtures?

From the grass knoll you could question why it has been announced Sarries have agreed to Irish's request the week after the salary cap farce

Or you could just accept that this has been being worked on by the staff at London Irish for well over 18 months and huge hurdles (which I won't go into) had to be cleared to get it over the line. None of those involved any kind of siding with Saracens over the salary cap issues. This was supposed to be announced during the pool stages of the RWC while the USA were still involved, but RFU red tape held it up.
This is potentially massive for us. Commercial this could be huge and could help with us becoming self sustaining, despite not owning our ground.

Wonder what all the Irish expats in NY (to whom this game will presumably be marketed) will think of the number of Irish players that will be playing for London "Irish"

Given that I imagine for most being 'Irish' is a conceptual thing, they'll probably be fine with it. Not sure how many are actually Irish.
