RIP Bob Foster
Evening all,
Opened boxing news to see that Bob Foster had passed away last Saturday. Suprised it hadn't been mentioned on here. Would just like to say rest in peace to the light - heavyweight great. May have to find a few of his fights on YouTube.
Cheers.

Great great 175er.....What a puncher !!..
Who can forget Quarry and Tiger !!..Unfortunately like most light heavies the money was at heavy and what a blow to have Joe and Muhammad around at the same time..
Unfortunately too he seemed bitter in his later years especially about Hill surpassing his record.....Although no real boxing fans have Hill in the same group...
Think Bob felt underappreciated....He was but like some went under the radar..
Sleep well your legacy is secure and some of us will enjoy your knockouts for years to come..
RIP.

A little before my time but from everything that I've read, one of the great light heavyweights.

Foster was a great Light Heavyweight, stopped Chris Finnegan in the 14th round in the Rings fight of the year 1972, what a performance that must have been by Finnegan against a fighter like Foster.

One of the truly greats 175lbers, his highlight reel is like something out of a horror film, devastating power.

1 mean puncher. Great fighter but as TRUSS said money was at heavyweight even more so in those days.
Still he stepped up but got brutally dispatched by Frasier and played with by Ali, like a cat with a mouse.
His light heavy career is still one of the best
Foster v Kovalev anyone????????

Wow! Foster v Kovalev... Now that's a fantasy match up I'd love to see!
Sad to learn of his passing. Insane power at 175 and though he never managed it at heavy, was seriously outweighed by Terrell, Folley, Frazier and Ali, something like 20, 30, 25 and 40 pounds each.
Probably would have been a world champ at 160 and 168 with today's 30 hour window between weigh in and fight. Now that's a frightening thought!!
