Changed my mind about the ref. He's not anti-Glasgow, just anti-rugby, and unfortunately Glasgow are the ones trying to play rugby.

Weird half for Glasgow - they should be up by 20 points by now.

It's wet and windy...! When conditions are poor it makes it very difficult to play an exciting game. Likewise a lot of players are more likely to drop passes and miss kicks.
This is due to the slipperiness of the ball, can be like trying to catch a bar of wet soap. The wind also effects the flight of the ball massively.

Glasgow really should be out of sight. They are battering the Scarlets though, surely that will take its toll as the second half goes on

Lol, I'm well aware of the effects. It's nothing new, just saying that teams can play better in worse conditions than these.maestegmafia wrote:nathan wrote:Its all very flat

It isn't windy though and although the ground is wet it isn't even close to raining. Let's not make excuses for extremely poor handling from Glasgow

Wouldnt say a good five minutes as they made 3 errors but that last move showed some continuity and certainly made progress.

That might have been the best cross kicks I have ever seen. Looked like a touchdown pass in the NFL.

Glasgow have re-found their mojo!

What a great win, playing the Warriors way!
Big Tachy showing us what he is all about.
Finn Russell showing that he does not like being benched
Hoggy showing some long awaited signs of life
The scrum rediscovering their Mojo, with especial credit to the Malcolm kid, who scored and certainly did not disgrace himself!
Even Grayshan Hart showed us that there is a rugby player in there somewhere.
Its taken a little while, but it does look like we are getting back on track!

Easy win for Glasgow. Scarlets obviously focussing on the PRO12 and paying just enough lip service to get the eurocup money.

You'd hope not Pot. I'd imagine they'll try and get revenge next week - I guess it depends who they can put out. Scarlets are quite clearly still lacking in squad depth. Didn't see the game but I know guys like Shingler and Rawlings can't really step up to this level.

Re: Champions Cup Pool 3: Glasgow Warriors v Scarlets, 12 December
Well, I think there will be no shortage of posters wanting to eulogise Big Tacky.
So;
Favaro was immense
The GP did amazingly well for a debutant
Hoggie played himself into a good performance and should build on it.
The scrum was on top throughout (when did we last see that?)
Blair controlled the pace and tempo of the match
Dunbar is now operating at about 97%, which is at least 15% ahead of Scotland's answer to Monica Seles in the contest for the Scotland 12 jersey.
I can't think of any Glasgow player who had a poor game. Meatball had a mixed bag, but his errors were when he tried to force things but if you don't buy a ticket you won't win the raffle.
Most satisfying aspect of the day? We saw Glasgow playing the way they can.

I thought Glasgow tried forcing things, sometime a lot. Likely because they felt they had the upper hand. But against better teams that could really cost them. They seemed to me to be more settled in the second half. If they play the rest of their matches with a bit more control and patience, they could be really tough for anyone to deal with.

Re: Champions Cup Pool 3: Glasgow Warriors v Scarlets, 12 December
If they can repeat that performance next week they'll be in a really good place; Russell perhaps let the hype get to him and Duncan Weir, whilst still not being very good, showed he can pretty much almost do a job and he's clearly a trier and God does love a trier. Townsend made the right decision by dropping Russell let's hope that Bennett will prove to be the same when he returns.
Naiyarovoro was outstanding when you combine him with Hogg and Seymour it's hard to think of a more balanced back three in club rugby. But it was a rather weak Scarlets team and that's worth remembering.

Re: Champions Cup Pool 3: Glasgow Warriors v Scarlets, 12 December
Hi Doc, long time no hear. Normally I find myself pretty much agreeing with everything you say but on this occasion ....
Scarlets were playing pretty much their second string so it was our chance to get 5 pointsthereby putting Scarlets out of the tournament and hopefully put them in a position where they play a weakened team next week again. This explains the first 40 where the visitors were hoping to "keep in touch" and hope Glasgow made mistakes trying to force the game. Once Glasgow went two scores ahead and were able to relax they played the kind of high tempo expansive rugby that made them deserved champions last season. It was almost embarrassing when Tacky ran in his intercept try: none of the Scarlets' players around him made any serious effort to stop him: their minds were on games to come in the league (or self preservation).
I can't see Scarlets winning next week which sets up the January visit to Franklin Gardens as a decider between us and Saints.

Saints were just destroyed by Racing Metro, if it's the same result next week then they will probably be out of the tournament, if we can get the next two wins it sets up a double header for the group between us and Racing Metro with the decider at home. I'd back Glasgow to beat almost anybody at Scotstoun in a much win game, we see it season after season around the play-offs.

A combination of injuries and resting first choice players meant this game was gifted to Glasgow. Scarlets suffering from a small squad with a number of fringe players struggling at this level.
Hopefully next season with the injured star players restored to fitness Davies and Patchel together with at least one new big tough lock forward they should be more competitive.

Missed the game and forgot to tape it....anyone know when the highlights will be out on youtube or Warriors Tv?
From the looks of the line-ups, I am not overly shocked. Scarlets should use next week to get their players ready for the derby games against the Osprey's. Win both and they should finish the Pro 12 as the top ranked welsh side.
