Only an excuse......
I am currently reading a book Too Many Clubs Not Enough Balls. Its a comedy about a man who takes up golf and joins his first club.
One bit particularly struck a cord when he was advised that you wont improve without a good excuse whether its as simple as the wind changed on me, im not used to this type of ball to the more extreme of i can't get used to these calm conditions, i play my best stuff in a gale.
So whats the worst excuse you have used and the best you have heard for a bad shot or round..

We have a rule that all excuses have to be aired in the car park, anything after that point is inadmissible.

Doesn't work for Mac then. You'd have to include the bus stop.super_realist wrote:We have a rule that all excuses have to be aired in the car park, anything after that point is inadmissible.

One guy I played with once (single figure) hit a shot off one tee which was basically topped straight along the ground into the rough and his immediate comment was "there must be something wrong with that ball - I hit that perfectly!" And he was being serious. I just cracked up.

Mate once carved one out of town and claimed distraction by a passing cloud.

"Wasn't expecting fescue grass" - not me but it is now the default excuse among some of my pals!

I remember Monty going mental at some spectators moving when I was standing on the tee watching him at the French Open. They were 300 yards up the fairway.
