v2 Hall of Fame Empty v2 Hall of Fame

Post by Gregers Mon 18 Jan 2016, 12:48 pm

Welcome all to the v2 Wrestling Hall of Fame

Current Members:
(currently voting for initial class)

---
This is the place where we honour the greats of the business that we all love. Whether they are international or British legends they are welcome in our hall. The only rule being that the wrestler must for all intents and purposes be retired (can be a rare part timer)

To begin with we will induct 5 main wrestlers, 1 woman, 1 manager/commentator/promoter and 1 tag team/group.

For a reference point the WWE HoF inductees are in spoiler tabs below
Superstars:
Women:
Tag Teams and Groups:
Managers, Commentators and Promoters:
Celebrity Wing:
Warrior Award:

---
Currently: Accepting nominations
Voting: Week before Wrestlemania 32

When nominating please do so in the following format:

[Name]
Accomplishments:
Why they deserve to be in the hall of fame: (please write in detail)

In order for a nomination to be accepted for voting it must be supported by at least two other posters

I think it's a good idea.

I'd do a lot less than 10, and do it a lot less than once a month though.

I'd say a class of 4-5, then add 4-5 each year. That way the debates don't get old.

How about doing one with people that aren't already in the HoF?

Just thinking that all the usual suspects will go in this year (and the next, and the next). I don't want it to be just for the smarks but it would be nice to come up with a few different names that we think are deserving.

An initial class of 6 and one every 2 months would be good. I think just picking the initial 6 would be an excellent debate. We could all agree without debate on 3-4 but those last two spots would be tough to fill.

Their are currently 114 members of the wwe hof

Taking the actual useful suggestions I'm thinking an initial induction of 8, to include 5 superstars, 1 diva, 1 manager/promoter/commentator and 1 group

Then one every 6 weeks to be added as per crimey and samos suggestions

It was hard to pick 5 superstars with Hogan, Undertaker, Savage, Warrior, Rude, Perfect, Sting and Piper just to mention a few

The Fabulous Moolah was womans champion for 99% of Human History so when with her.

Bobby Heenan is my fav Manager/commentator

I would swap Heenan for Heyman and put NWO in ahead of both DX and 4 Horseman but other than that solid choices.

Edit: I was also maybe bump The Rock for someone else. Possibly Hogan.

Exactly, I think there's a huge argument in the initial five.

The Fabulous Moolah was Women's Champion for all those years in WWE's weird and wonderful warped version of history but she lost the title multiple times. She was also one of the most despicable human beings in wrestling history, essentially a pimp for any women wanting to get into wrestling.

I think Bobby Heenan does have a huge shout, but so do Paul Bearer and Paul Heyman.

I will put a full list of the wwe hof membera later (unless anyone else wants to during the day)

Having looked through them there is so much filler but narrowing down to 5 is incredibly hard

Starting the debate off with our number 1 pick

Austin or Hogan?

I think if you're limiting it to only those already in the WWE Hall of Fame, there's less of a point of us doing it? Surely one part of the debate would be that there are people not in the WWE's Hall of Fame who could arguably be in V2's?

It might also be a good idea to have a separate topic for the debate and not frame it as 1 v 1, because I imagine there's quite a lot of people who would want both Austin and Hogan in as the initial five.

For me the initial five have to be:

Hulk Hogan
Roddy Piper
Steve Austin
The Undertaker
Shawn Michaels

Then the woman, manager and group should be:

Trish Stratus
Bobby Heenan
Four Horsemen

Completely disagree with your picks.

And the reason is that you have gone for the biggest stars. Surely a hall of fame should be about those who have done something for the industry as a whole.

Would you put someone like Justin Bieber in a music hall of fame ahead of Burt Bacharach?

I think people like Steve Lombardi are way more deserving than someone like Shawn Michaels who most probably did more damage to peoples careers than anything else.

Laugh

In all seriousness, I think Vince McMahon is actually a better pick than Heenan for the manager position, but I'm not sure whether he's considered active or not? He's basically semi-retired at this point. He's also probably the most influential non-wrestling (for the most part) character in WWE history. There's a reason WWE have brought him back against Reigns and that is because he played a huge role in getting Steve Austin over.

I dont think that there should be categories but just people that we think are deserving.

I would like to nominate Tim Arson for the Warrior Award if we have to choose categories.

This is a guy who never made it to the big leagues except for a one off appearance on the ECW relaunch. However, he kept going and was still going for try outs with Ring of Honour and the like, way after his brief moment of fame had passed.

Struggling to ever reach mainstream again, he kept trying to get the job that he loved. If that isnt the essence of the Warrior Award, I dont know what is.

Celebrity Wing nominations:

David Arquette - Former WCW World Heavyweight champion who was universally hated (except for me). A life long fan of the business who despite his physical limitations, was game and respectful of the business. Courtney Cox once stated that all he would do is sit around watching wrestling and playing video games.

Billy Corgan - someone who is a star in his own right. Doesnt need the money but has decided to put that aside to join TNAs creative team. Seems to love the industry and even owned his own promotion.

Freddie Prinz Jr - Hollywood actor who joined WWE creative. Apparently hated and mocked by the whole locker room (especially Cena allegedly). After 3 months, he wrote a promo for someone which apparently was praised by Vince and then the locker room realised that he was serious about his work.

I would vote McMahon over Heenan.

5 males.

Shawn Michaels
Steve Austin
The Undertaker
Hulk Hogan
Roddy Piper

Manager/Promoter/Other

Vince McMahon. God damn I want to vote for Heyman but McMahon changed the game forever.

Female

Fabulous Moolah

Group/Stable

nWo

And Adam if you honestly think we should have a celebrity wing then you should be banned from your own site. #NoMercy
