Ref should give Italy the penalty at this scrum after his last mistake

Not judging by the last 5 minutes they won't.
35 to go. I'm not regretting my post yet.
Well that was a bit of a damp squib of a second half from a French point of view.
Great game management by Italy kept them in the game and the French making mistakes. Two minutes left and a very nervous finish
An uncertain performance by the ref hasn't helped this game at all

Got to feel thats a very harsh result that turned on a poor decision at the end.

Once again the big teams get the decisions at the right time. Unlucky Italy.

Absolutely ludicrous decision from Parisse to go for the drop goal.
Too much ego eh?

Silly boy, they should of carried on through the phases. More chance of France giving away a penalty

Agree. Not that surprised unfortunately.
That was way too complicate in the end and Italy deserved something else.
lot of players didn't perform today including most of the pack (except Jedrasiak), Fickou, Medart and Bonneval (although he was playing out of position). bezy and vakatawa are the only positives.

Well, a good win by France. Or rather "A LUCKY" win by France.
Italy should realy have won that game, but at the last minute Parrisew trying to take a drop goal.
Well played Italy. Although they lost, no longer can be the called the whipping boys...lets hope their is more to come from them.

In fairness, no other Italian was putting their hand up to go for the drop goal and I have seen Parisse kick DG's before so not as mad as you would think.

Well Doyle's mistakes change the result in yet another match - the man's a liability with the whistle ... not just the penalty at the end but France's first try came off a forward pass and possible foot in touch - bad luck Italy - robbed.

Foot in touch maybe, forward pass no. Blame the line referee for that.

I think this game highlights 2 things...
The ineptness of France is still there,
and talk of Italy being guarentee'd the wooden spoon is massively premature!

Anyone else notice the amount of empty seats? Is this down to recent results?

Yeah noticed that, French are only into club rugby now it seems. I bet Italy would have had a better crowd for this in Roma.

Re: 6N 2016: France v Italy, 6 February
People have to realise this is the 1st game in the Stade de France since the November terrorist attacks. A lot of people hesitated to come to Paris (most supporters do not live here as well). Both games against Ireland and England have been sold out for a long time as well which means some other supporters went for tickets for those instead.

Fair point, i would think twice about getting to Paris to watch a game after what happened.

Re: 6N 2016: France v Italy, 6 February
I am 100% neutral on this game but the highlights seemed to me to suggest France were very, very lucky. The final two passes for the first try and the scoring pass for the last try all were close to forward, while - as has been said above - the final French penalty (great kick though it was) should have been an Italian pen for the high tackle on Parisse before he was pinged.
RE: crowd - as this was the first major game of any kind at SdF since 13 November and - with all due respect to Italy - perhpas not the biggest of 6N games, was the upper tier maybe closed to help crowd control?
