Yes, I know.

A fact I have proven above.
Right, but what's that got to do with his commitment? I don't see the correlation, sorry. What am I missing?
Unless, of course, you're claiming he will play for Wales whilst not 100% fit (as he admits) but not for Cardiff. In which case, I'd say most players would do the same.
So I still don't understand your 'commitment' comment.

That is exactly what I am saying, which shows he is more committed to playing for Wales than he is for Cardiff.

More like gatland will risk him whilst the blues look after his welfare. JD2 gets rushed back from injury to play for wales, AWJ hasn't played since the six nations but is likely to play for gatland against England. Lets not talk about north playing on with a concussion......

Surely the person/player has a say in it as well ? These people are not slaves, they do have rights, if they feel they should not play, then they can say no.

A player wants to play every game he can otherwise why put yourself through all the training. Its up to the management to decide whether they're 100% fit and judging by the performances of some of wales players, they obviously aren't 100% fit

They admitted during the Six Nations that Warburton wasn't 100%, but they played him anyway. (They only admitted after the tournament that Alun Wyn wasn't 100%.) There's every chance Warburton won't be 100% for the first Test in New Zealand, but they'll have to play him because he's the only openside in the squad!

Re: Cardiff Blues Season Thread 3 - Danny Wilson Appointed Head Coach
So we are saying that Warburton knew he was not 100% but still chose to play for Wales ?
Or are we saying that Gatland forced him to play even though he knew he was not 100% ?
I know which one I would think is true. If he plays whilst not at 100% for Wales, why does he not do the same for Cardiff ?

Because the blues have his welfare in mind. Sam Warburton doesn't pick the blues team, Danny Wilson does.

Yes, but Sam Warburton has a choice ? If he is not fit he can say no ?

Yes, he can say no. But it shouldn't be his decision to make.

But he wants to play. Imagine the captain of wales refusing to play when he is named in the team. The responsibility of the players welfare lies with the management

So he wants to play for Wales, whether he is fit or not, yet he is not banging down the door for Cardiff then ?
Or you could answer the question, do you think Gatland is forcing him to play for Wales ?

Re: Cardiff Blues Season Thread 3 - Danny Wilson Appointed Head Coach
Of course he's not forcing them to play rugby because they want to play rugby but they are playing rugby when they are not fully fit and gatland doesn't give a toss.
Do you not think its strange that the ospreys rested AWJ at the end of the season as he wasn't fully fit and you yourself posted he was going to retire, yet just as soon as the season finishes gatland calls him into his team, works him hard in training so he is able to play for wales. Anybody sensible would have given AWJ the summer to rest and get ready for the start of next season (which includes a lions tour), yet gatland doesnt

That's Gatland being cement head and Wales having poor depth. I don't see how anyone can call a player's commitment into question though, that seems a bit low.

AWJ is as committed to Ospreys as he is to Wales, an attribute you cannot give to Sam Warburton and Cardiff Blues.

Alun Wyn plays more often for the Ospreys than Warburton does for the Blues, but that has nothing to do with commitment.

Re: Cardiff Blues Season Thread 3 - Danny Wilson Appointed Head Coach
Well I'm pretty sure it would have leaked out by now if Warburton had pretended to be injured while at the Blues, or if he'd been selected and refused to play.
I don't know how you can conclude that a player selected to play for his region 10 times, for example, is more 'committed' than another player selected to play nine times for his.

Warburton's body can only handle 20 games a year. This is well known. His body is more fragile than is AWJ's body. That's just the way it is.
Commitment doesn't come into it.
I've no problem with him playing more games for his primary employer. I just, given the opportunity, wouldn't choose my club to be his secondary employer.

Anyone know how much £££ do players get for featuring in the Wales XV/23? And is there a win bonus too?

The Daily Nazi claim £5,300 match fee and there is a win bonus.
Re: Cardiff Blues Season Thread 3 - Danny Wilson Appointed Head Coach
Wales are understood to pay their players a match fee of £5,300 per game, with an image-rights payment of £1,500 per player per campaign, but the squad win bonus on offer is much higher than England’s, with £1,035,000 on offer should Warren Gatland’s side take the title. That equates to a bonus of £45,000 per player which, on top of match fees of £26,500, would give each Wales player a total payment of £71,500.
Should Joe Schmidt’s side win the Six Nations, it is understood the Ireland players will share an extra squad bonus of €230,000 (£165,000), equating to a total of €44,000 (£32,000) for those players who have been in every match-day squad of the championship.

Just wondering but do Cardiff, or any of the other 3 for that matter, offer similar for Pro12/LV/Euro games?

When the club won the Amlin, it cost more in win bonuses than they got in prize money.

I see what you did there. Just wondering if there's extra cash on the table when playing Zebra away for example. My guess is there isn't.
